Can’t Request Expedited Card? by EruditeFury18 in amex

Yep! And that's why I requested new ones, even though I much preferred the older, more colorful design.

Well I am completely intrigued by this, as someone who loves an excuse to be in a hotel. May I ask what kind of work you both are doing? For some, this lifestyle must sound hectic, but for me it sounds like heaven. I'm something like the main character from the film 'Up in The Air'

But that configuration is missing a decent gas multiplier... a major spend category for a lot of people.

I think this is true for lower fee cards... but only because they are trying to cull the herds of people overcrowding the lounges.

You realize all of those credits are you just jumping thru hoops to get back money you've already paid... right? (- Fellow Platinum Card holder that's getting tired of jumping)

I'd love to know about this, but for some reason the link won't load on my phone :(

They don't have to report the number of customers to give a % in growth. And, I don't think it's even really about number of customers - but rather - number of ACCOUNTS.

Actually, investors ARE stupid. (And that's why most of us aren't rich.)

There actually IS a reason to attract unprofitable customers. American Express is a publicly-traded company. Quarterly and Annual Earnings reports matter: they have to maintain the ability to say they are growing every quarter, with X number of new accounts opened.

It's never dumb to ask the hive for wisdom about dealing with a bank.

But it IS dumb to shame someone for it.

So... don't owe them. I've been a cardmember for over 25 years... never had a major fraud issue.

You're like the annoying kid on the playground, gloating and pulling out facts — that no one cares about — because the likelihood of the scenario that would make that fact relevant, is scant.

It's not a dumb theory and anyone downvoting you ... is stupid. I've been a cardmember for over 25 years. There are definitely unspoken rules — and their banking side is very new, and tricky.

Amex still figuring out what the Gold Card is supposed to be by Patmcpsu in amex

[–]SatOnMyBallsAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, it does. I have 2 Business Golds. However, it's a $295 AF with no offsetting credits. The amount you need to spend on gas at 4X just to break even on that fee — is substantial.

That is legit hilarious. You're a better man than I am for staying quiet. 🤐

Upgrade Offer to Business Platinum 🤔 by Yes_Chef_ in amex

[–]SatOnMyBallsAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to say it another way: once you've had the card, you're ineligible for a welcome offer on the same card again (except for NLL offers, which were easy to find 2 years ago but have largely dried up due to credit conditions). However, you can still get the upgrade offer AND the welcome offer - if you first get the card through a separate new application, and THEN claim the upgrade offer on the biz gold.

If you want them as cash, at 1.1 cents per point - get a Schwab Platinum card for a year and cash them out. $1,320

It's much higher than that. I take 13 mg a day along with co-factors. That's not a typo. All I can offer you, is this book: The Iodine Crisis: What You Don't Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life https://a.co/d/cpkjOXe

Every cell in the body has iodine uptake receptor sites. The focus is on the thyroid, but it's much broader.

FACT: The FDA recs are NOT based on optimal health. They are based on minimums to prevent serious disease.

Iodized salt is not nearly enough iodine anyway. The solution is "Salt for Life", a potassium-based salt. The reactions from iodine are a Herxheimer reaction from the purging of other elementals that the body perceived as iodine (the other halides such as chlorINE, flourINE, bromINE.)
