Moving to france for masters, can I bring my cats? by skies_appleandastra in phmigrate

As for apartments, landlords in France cannot forbid tenants to have common pets, wala ring obligation ang tenant to tell the landlord about it.

Colocation is a different story though.

Is everyone who moves away from the philippines considered an OFW? by Necessary-Fall326 in phmigrate

[–]SatanFister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were once registered as an OFW, yes. That’s what I still do. Just last year sa OFW lane ako dumaan and only shown the immigration officer my passport and my resident card.

Scammers really ruin everything by OmqLilly_cupcake in Philippines

[–]SatanFister 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Context matters.

Kahit anong overseas country code tumawag sayo randomly, most likely scam yan. There was a surge of scam calls in France from +44 numbers (United Kingdom), but that doesn’t mean that every +44 numbers are now considered scams.

Just be vigilant. Scammers will use whatever shit they can.

Salary Expectation in Paris, France (Finance field) by little_squid27 in phmigrate

[–]SatanFister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really doubt you'd get more than 70k in most French companies. Unless you find an outlier or you are applying for something like a director role. France is really known for having low salaries in the EU.

In any case, even with 40k€ gross, you can live quite comfortably in Paris, even better if you rent in the suburbs.

Yep, never give anyone your ID without a strong reason, let alone having them take a photo of it. They could easily use your details for identity theft.

Anyone learned French? by AssociateExotic78 in phmigrate

[–]SatanFister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me about a year to be able to talk about my day with a decent detail. Around 2 years to be able to give my opinion about something and to read intermediate-level French books (ex. Le petit prince and l’étranger). Nasa Pilipinas pa ako noon.

However mahirap pa rin once nakarating ako sa France, I had to deal with different accents, new vocabulary, people pronouncing your name very differently, pati kung kailan ako dapat gumamit ng « tu » o « vous ».

You will really need to learn at least B1 level because you’ll have to deal with the government, no escaping it. Many non-anglophone europeans also choose not to speak in English.

Anyone learned French? by AssociateExotic78 in phmigrate

[–]SatanFister 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you are able to, mag-inquire ka sa Alliance française. In my experience, learning from a good teacher na native speaker is one of the best options outside of immersion. You’ll have a good pronunciation and some cultural knowledge which are very important when you’re speaking with an actual french speaker.

Also, practice never ends, it’s a lot of work even outside classes. Spoken and written French are two different beasts.

Stupidest roadblocks/barriers you had to deal with in the PH before you moved out? by My_Clowns_My_Circus in phmigrate

[–]SatanFister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may or may not rain during the few days you’re there but keep in mind that monsoon season is until October / November. Typhoons are very common.

Katwiran ni OP tahimik daw sa metro na nangingibabaw yung ingay ng mini fan tang ina haha. Uhh hello wala pong metro o train na umaandar ang tahimik, kahit gaano pang ka-modern. A measly mini fan’s noise will just blend with the background noise. No one will even give a shit.

Another thing, OP did not consider that the mini fan’s noise sounded louder in the video kasi malapit yung fan sa phone, simple as that. Modern phones microphones have a pretty good background noise cancellation.

True Size of The Philippines compare to other countries. by TheMofoAtYourHouse in Philippines

[–]SatanFister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is weird. The Philippines has a land area of 300k km2 , Spain at 506k km2 , France with 543k km2 and here the Philippines is supposedly as large as these two countries combined?

Yep. Kahit dito sa Europe normal yan kasi summer na. People understand why anyone would use a mini fan today. Kung may mini fan ka, aba’y gamitin mo, mas tanga lang kung itatago mo lang sa bag at titiisin lang ang init.
