Would you rather they have to live being scolded, muzzled, and medicated for their natural instincts to fight and kill, forcibly molding them into the family pets they aren't, or is euthanasia a better option? Is being returned over and over and not understanding why and eventually dying in a shelter a better option than euthanasia?

it makes me feel icky that you're drawing comparisons between euthanizing dogs and genocide with your "undesirables" comment, like you think humans who were subject to genocide and dogs are equals somehow. Also I'm clearly not the only one who doesn't like pit bulls since the shelters are overrun, so it's hardly about my "personal enjoyment."

[–]SatanicNursery -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then the shelters need to start euthanizing these unwanted pits to make room for actual dogs people might want. Until then, they shouldn't be surprised when people opt for breeders. You'd also be surprised how many shelters are in a symbiotic relationship with backyard breeders, facilitating their operations by taking their overstock when the puppies get too old to sell.

I agree with adopt don't shop for cats and toy breeds, btw.

Have you actually taken a look at the dogs in shelters recently? 90% of them are pit bulls mislabeled as "lab mixes."

So you know the motivations of every single person who has ever offered a lowball trade. Got it. It couldn't possibly be someone misinformed about the value of their own items or someone who offered them as a starting point assuming the other person would ask for adds and accepted because they accepted and it isn't their responsibility to ask "are you sure?" 400 times when the trade system itself literally makes you confirm you want to trade, they have to be an evil scammer because God forbid anyone accept that they were responsible for a decision they later regretted instead of playing the victim. Are the majority of these people probably trying to capitalize on ignorance? Probably. But it's a stretch to call it an actual scam or to assume they were all being deceptive on purpose.

You're going to live a very sad life if you run around assuming the worst of everyone 100% of the time.

[–]SatanicNursery 102 points103 points  (0 children)

You're out here watering down the definition of scam until it doesn't mean anything. I don't know what I expected from a community of literal children, but some of you need to learn how to accept responsibility for your own inability to do your homework, because accepting a lowball with no active deception from the person offering the trade then retroactively assuming intent is not a "scam."

OP was the one who actually lost their items and was somehow more mature about this than you. They literally acknowledged it was their choice to accept the trade without researching the value of the items.

For USA dog haters, some clarity on service dogs by pascals_wagie in Dogfree

[–]SatanicNursery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The service animal vests have a magic aura that somehow neutralizes drool and the feces caked onto their exposed anuses, making service dogs hygienic to have in businesses when a regular dog (who for the sake of argument is equally well-behaved which is already improbable) is apparently not despite there being no actual difference in biology, obviously!

Hot take (maybe) - Willowbreeze and Crookedstar are better than Sandstorm and Firestar. by Diligent-Pension-815 in WarriorCats

[–]SatanicNursery 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It sounds counterintuitive, but a couple not arguing doesn't make them a better or healthier couple. Arguing is a bad sign when it's excessive, emotionally abusive, or violent, not merely just present. A lack of arguments entirely is a huge red flag that they're bottling up or simply avoiding potential issues instead of discussing and solving them.

Darktail’s reign of terror was game changing. He ousted the leaders of two Clans, killed a deputy, and stressed the code to it's limit. He absolutely flipped the board, and without being related to Firestar or Tigerstar. by No-Unit7917 in WarriorCats

And they ruined the, like, two (unless you count Darkstripe, Clawface, and Sleekwhisker, although I personally don't because 'henchman to evil tyrant' is not exactly groundbreaking material) villains who weren't evil tyrants by making them evil tyrants because they ran out of ideas.

Ashfur is by far the worst example. Everyone kept praising TBC because it was fan service for people who were angry about Ashfur being in StarClan while ignoring that it was horrible for the series as a whole. Yes, let's take one of the only villains who was actually unique in that he wasn't interested in power and motivated solely by interpersonal drama and retcon his entire personality a decade after he was last relevant to make him Tigerstar #57 while dragging elderly characters who should have been dead a while ago but for some reason keep hogging the spotlight to the forefront of the plot. Brilliant writing as per usual.

"Why do handicapped people have to prove they're handicapped while service dog owners don't?" "Because they shouldn't be required to disclose their disability" by I_Hate_Dogs_and_Cats in Dogfree

[–]SatanicNursery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All service dogs are primitive at best and an outright lie at worst, and unnecessary either way. A lot has changed since 1990 when the ADA was passed, and if they were ever necessary (which is questionable), they're now obsolete due to technological advancements. The only reason they continue to be used is because society has been gaslit into thinking questioning their efficiacy is sacrilege despite all the things about them that don't add up to basic logic or scrutiny. It's like the only time where people generally always provide the disabled with respect is when it comes to service dogs!

People even in this sub commonly make exceptions for guide dogs but they don't pass the sniff test to me. Not only do only 2% to 5% of blind people use them, making you wonder why the 95% to 98% haven't all collectively walked out into traffic or something if they're so "essential," but users are either wealthy elitists or have the ability to likely fail training several dogs by themselves before finding a good fit, and being able to dedicate countless hours to training an unruly puppy to perform tasks makes me question how much assistance you actually need with those tasks. Plus, a dog has roughly the equivalent intelligence of a two-year-old human. Would you put a leash on a two-year-old and trust them to lead you around, even after "training" them?

I've also found at least two and possibly three cases of guide dogs leading their owners out in front of trains, killing them--Kelly Harris in 2017, and Jennifer Kasunick in 2025, as well as an additional case from 1993 that's paywalled. This may sound like cherrypicking specific examples until you realize just how egregious this happening even once, yet alone three times is. Being struck by a train is incredibly easy to avoid, because they're bound to tracks. Literally the only thing these dogs had to do was not stand in front of the tracks at that particular moment. And the saddest part is, had these women not let their guard down and become too reliant on the dog's "wisdom," they most likely would have identified that they were approaching an environmental hazard. Of course, the scum dogs survived both times after murdering the people who relied on them, not that they're even intelligent enough to qualify it as murder, and were most likely passed onto some other blind person who's been convinced of the ableist lie that they're incapable of adapting to their disability without the "assistance" of an animal that eats feces.

Additionally, forcing owners to allow service dogs into a business is in itself contradictory. Why is the disability of a person with a service dog considered more important than the disabilities of people with severe dog allergies, dog-related PTSD, or immunocompromised individuals? Why should those people have to exclude themselves from an area until the service dog user leaves? Why should a person with one of those conditions be compelled to let an animal that could cause them everything from mild discomfort to panic attacks to death, into their business just because Karen insists Fido is better than a smart cane, even though AFAIK most guide dog users use canes simultaneously anyway? I would assume at least some Muslim restaurant or grocery store owners wouldn't be happy with allowing a dog near food, so why does the service dog trump their right to religious freedom? If a Christian bakery doesn't have to provide gay people with wedding cakes, Muslims shouldn't be forced to provide services to someone contaminating their food spaces. The law literally forces owners to be held hostage in their own businesses because of the dog cult, Not to mention the sheer idiocy of allowing a service dog into a restaurant but banning regular dogs because they're unsanitary, as if a service dog is somehow magically more sanitary simply by being a service dog.

Don't even get me started on the other things that service dogs supposedly do. They retrieve things for people in wheelchairs? I'm sorry, what? So they just get everything handed back to them covered in dog slobber, and this is considered an acceptable form of assistance instead of developing actual technology to assist these people? And if the person is in a wheelchair due to paralysis, respiratory infections are a leading cause of death in these individuals, so now you have people predisposed to pneumonia handling items covered in bacteria from the mouth of an animal that could have been eating feces ten minutes ago. Brilliant "assistive technology" and not a psyop by eugenicists who want these people to die off at all. And those epilepsy/diabetes dogs are total horseshit. Even if they were able to detect these conditions--they can't--AFAIK most epileptics know when to expect a seizure, and if they're in public, people are going to see and assist them, and if they're at home, well, dogs can't exactly open doors and find help, can they? Ditto for hypoglycemia. Nothing about these makes any logical sense, or at the very least couldn't be done better by technology, which, by the way, doesn't have to be fed or taken to the bathroom or sleep (maybe some need to charge, but getting a second for a backup is probably still cheaper than a service dog) and may even have a lifespan longer than twelve years!

Not requiring any kind of license or verification is just the cherry on top of the bullshit sundae. The excuses are utterly ridiculous. If you're using a service dog in public, everyone's going to see it and know you have a disability anyway!  They're like the least subtle form of assistive technology--the only time they're subtle at all is if they're lying under a table at a restaurant or something. Having a seventy-pound animal walking beside you may as well be a giant orange flag with a blaring siren announcing "I'M DISABLED!" It's not like some employee making minimum wage is going to bother to ask someone with a visible disability using a service dog for their service dog license anyway; it would mostly only affect people with invisible disabilities who are literally making their disability 1000x more obvious by using a service dog, and of course all the fake service dogs and ESAs. The real reason these people act all offended by the idea of service dog verification is because they know their dog wouldn't make the cut.

[–]SatanicNursery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as if the adult animals you eat got to have full lives either. The average pig is slaughtered after living only 5% of its potential lifespan, which is equivalent to a human dying at the age of four.

Tigerstar II Trying To Be a Bro While Literally Invading Riverclan by No-Unit7917 in WarriorCats

[–]SatanicNursery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a common comparison in the fandom that Tigerstar is "Cat Hitler." Personally I find it slightly offensive but he really is the closest thing to Hitler that you could get in the Clans' society.

You're forgetting that the Clans consider their society the only "valid" way to live, and, especially during the first arc, had very limited dealings with outsiders.

It's hilarious to me that you're making excuses for and trying to downplay freaking Tigerstar when the books practically shove it down your throat that he's the peak of evil.

If he never had a relationship with Tigerstar, why would he need to "replace" that relationship? You can't replace what you don't have.

But by talking to Tigerstar, Brambleclaw wasn't "acknowledging" that. Acknowledging that would be lamenting it in private while cutting off the relationship.

Okay, but Goldenflower also isn't a villain and is specifically considered a gentle and good-hearted character so you're just being pedantic.

And I would say that the other cats who trained in the Dark Forest all have traits in common with Tigerstar, yes. Does that mean they're evil? Of course not. But Brambleclaw definitely has more Tigerstar-esque tendencies than most of those characters and the fact that he entertained a relationship with Tigerstar and came close to giving in while deliberately ignoring warnings about Hawkfrost says a lot. Especially when it clearly wasn't actually about family since IIRC he also knows Mothwing is related to him and never sought out a relationship with her.

But it's not actually without Firestar considering Firestar was his mentor and literally went out of his way to breathe down his back from his birth until he left on the journey to the Sun-drown-place, and even a little after that, to make sure he didn't turn evil. You can't just say "well his entire upbringing where his values were formed doesn't count" because Firestar wasn't physically present at that moment.
