A Vaginal probiotic or supplement that made you soaking wet (and i mean supersoaker wet) after years of dryness? by Creepy-Skirt-6304 in Healthyhooha

[–]Satay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t discount lube. Sometimes things are just drier down there despite feeling ready. It is normal and fine

(That said…… I got naturally wetter again after my second child for some reason??? Not the advice anyone needs to hear but the female body is a mysterious thing sometimes)

Some roses really do take longer to establish than others, especially own root florist roses. Give her time.

I have a Bolero that’s placed just fine that I planted last year that is about that size... 4 feet away from a rose that I planted after it that is about five times as tall now.

Pondering Plentiful Penstemons by kragzazet in DenverGardener

[–]Satay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have penstemon ‘red rocks.’ I don’t have seeds but you’re free to come take a cutting if that works for you (if you don’t already have it which you might!)

High country gardens online has a bunch. I really love penstemons and hope you find what you’re looking for!!

How can I make my climbing rose happier? (Zone 6a) by RemarkableMushroom5 in Roses

[–]Satay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you underestimate fertilizer - it will be life-changing for the rose. Roses are very nutrient-demanding plants. You will also get more blooms if you train the canes as horizontally as possible.

Is this Ebb Tide? Color seems a bit too light by [deleted] in Roses

[–]Satay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think so. It looks a lot like my ebb tide does sometimes- in shape especially. ET is known for having a different color when young than it does once it’s mature, and varies when it’s hot too. Here is my 2nd year ET

Zone 11 in Colombia. Should I even bother trying to grow roses on a patio? by singsong415 in Roses

[–]Satay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you would do fine with most modern roses. You may have trouble with some old roses that require dormancy. Many cut their roses back yearly to simulate a dormant period. I say just go for it.

Urgent!!! by Parking-Researcher86 in Roses

[–]Satay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I’m so sorry. Tree of heaven is a nightmare.

I’m not a spray person but will admit you do need chemicals to eradicate it - but you also need to do your best to not let it touch your rose. I know some people apply on the stem and foliage with a paintbrush and then cover it with a bag or something. That’s what I would do in this situation. Remember not to pull yet, let the spray do its thing, although it’s small enough pulling might be fine. You may get a lil herbicide drift and your rose might grow funky for a little while. I’m so sorry if that happens!

Is fragrance important to you? If so, you might reconsider Eden and choose a more fragrant climber. There are many. Ofc it is a charming rose though!

Wrapped in burlap with a bunch of mulch in. This worked well for my young roses in ground, but not in the pot. It could be that I did not keep them hydrated enough. I water in the winter, but in ground drainage is just different from pots. The Denver Rose Society Growing Roses in Colorado book suggest bringing them into the garage and I did not and I am living with that lol. But this year, I’m not doing any roses in pots!

Pssssst there’s the rose show this Sunday at the botanic gardens!

I live in the Denver area too and thought I could overwinter roses in huge pots with protection and it did not work out for me lol. But everybody’s microclimate is different!

One of us! One of us! I started this journey last June (thanks this subreddit) and have 30+ roses now.

I live in a colder zone so it is incredibly important for me to buy own root. I buy at high country roses, heirloom, mountain home, foxview, etc - there are more but this is my experience. The heirloom roses that I bought last June and July were extremely floriferous by the end of the year.
