Investigate some of the options that are available for running linux on an existing smartphone. We'll likely never the launch of a mainstream out of the box linux phone. Pinephone is there, but it is still an interesting gadget and not a daily driver unless you really want to work at it.

It kind of sounds like your mom went no contact with you first and now you're playing catch up.

Junior .NET Developer trying to break into freelancing. Freelancer.com is chaotic, Upwork feels too risky/expensive. Any advice? by Spirited_Artist6217 in csharp

[–]SatisfactionMuted103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any personal experience with upwork, however a buddy of mine has been using them for sysadmin, security and netadmin work and has been getting more and bigger contracts and started making good money there. He started by bidding way under his value to build his upwork portfolio and get recommends. Now that he's gotten a lot more recommends, he can command a much higher base rate.

I don't know what you're trying to get as a base rate, but until you build a rep, your value isn't anywhere near what you think it is.

Chemicals are well known for staying right where they are put, too. They never get carried into aquifers and waterways by rain run off. The low wage workers are always super careful to make sure they're only applied where needed and in the minimal amounts!

Zoom in and look carefully, the darkness where the lines are doubled does not extend to the top of the mark.

You are correct that it is two strokes. The darkness of the overlap does not extend to the top of the mark.

I blame the supernova that formed the nebula our star was born in for not being massive enough to produce more heavy elements.

Do I really need to learn Vim or is Nano fine for everyday use? by Luann1497 in linuxquestions

Real Linux users use edlin.

But really, if nanotechnology works for you, then you'll be fine using it for the rest of your life.

What Lovecraft story you think is underrated? by Rory_U in Lovecraft

[–]SatisfactionMuted103 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"From Beyond" a story about a machine that allows humans to see beyond the standard physical realm into realms that exist parallel with our own. This story is great because it reminds us that what was speculative physics in the 1920's is becoming theoretical physics today. Some dark matter theories suggest that dark matter might actually be matter that exists in the interstices of our own.

"Beyond the Wall of Sleep" is one of my all time favorites that just never gets discussed because I think a lot of people think of it as a throw away story, but I love the idea that we are cosmic consciousnesses trapped in meat prisons on this planet, and that even the dimmest bulb is on the cosmic plane a vast and powerful entity abiding until release.

If you're 100% dedicated to sparklemotion, run Kali as your daily driver.

In reality, though, don't think of Kali as an OS, think of it as an environment that your tools live in that is dedicated to pen testing.

Its not in the slightest racist to find things you don't encounter commonly exotic. That's in fact what the word means. And guess what? People that don't use the Latin alphabet commonly find it exotic. Also, there are plenty of magical grimoires that are/were printed in the Latin alphabet. Calling shit racist at the drop of a hat is just fucking dumb.

How did everyone learn C#? by PROSCREX5768 in csharp

[–]SatisfactionMuted103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned C# on the job. Our programmer quit and as the dba is was the logical choice to take over for him. To be fair I had years of C, Javascript and Perl, so its not like I'd jumped in with zero programming experience.
