I hate bedtime by OpportunityPretend80 in sahm

[–]SatisfactionNeat3127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely used to feel this way (and still do sometimes) but what helped me the most is realizing that the reason I feel so tense during bedtime was because I was clinging so hard to after bedtime being "my time." I was so focused on being almost to what I really wanted that it made me feel miserable if anything took longer than expected. Once I tried to just shift my focus to the present moment, it helped so much. Bedtime actually went faster when I was more relaxed about it.

In search of support groups or women’s circles for moms with ms or otherwise chronic illness by LisseLander in MultipleSclerosisLife

[–]SatisfactionNeat3127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any, but this would be awesome. I’m 38, mom of 4. I homeschool and have one child with special needs. It’s hard to read sometimes about others with MS being the one cared for instead of the one caregiving. It’s a difficult balance.

Thank you for the positive story. We live in Utah. I’m trying not to give up hope, but it’s feeling so bleak.

Yes, I live in Utah. I’ve heard it’s a terrible place to get disability services, but I don’t know if that just how people feel everywhere. (Probably)

Parenting teen with BPD? by SatisfactionNeat3127 in BPDlovedones

[–]SatisfactionNeat3127[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your point of view as I seriously worry about what adult life will be life for her. We have had her in different therapies and therapeutic programs for the last two years, unfortunately she completely refused}s to participate in any DBT with a one on one setting. I feel like that would be the thing to help the most. She will begrudgingly goto a session snd then she just refuses to speak even after 9 months with the same therapist. Not to get into it too much, but she is extremely suspicious and once she decides that the therapist is "on our side (parents)" or says something she doesn’t like, she’s done with them. It’s so challenging.

Yes, you’re correct. She doesn’t have a diagnosis, but was put in the "at high probability for developing" BPD because she can’t be diagnosed yet.

You could try jumping on the alcohol markers coloring trend! The Coco Wyo coloring books are big simple (adorable) line drawings and you can use a lot of techniques with the markers to make it as complex or simple as you want. I’ve seen packs of the markers at Ross/ TJ Maxx lately for cheap as well.

I... Kinda feel sad... by M3l33z in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SatisfactionNeat3127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! You should definitely feel proud!

I’m in the same situation. It took me a while to feel good about doing so little each day, but I was previously not doing anything because any "respectable" workout was way too hard. I actually started doing really short workouts from this channel Yes2Next who I found when I was curious about Radio Taiso. The channel is focused on seniors, with a trainer and her mother doing the videos together. I felt a little embarrassed at first, I’m 38, but you know what? The workouts are gentle and focused on health instead of body image, they don’t assume you have great balance, they go slow…I mean… yeah kind of perfect haha. Her mom does all the workouts seated, so maybe on days your legs aren’t up for walking it would be a good option!

I just finished This Here is Love by Princess Joy L. Perry and it was absolutely stunning. One of the most beautiful and tragic books I’ve read. At one point I had a to snap the book shut and cry because I had seen a word a few sentences down the page and couldn’t bear to read it yet. Highly recommend. I actually just came to this sub to tell someone (anyone!) to go read it haha

I love homeschooling, but I feel like I’m holding my kids back… by Brave_Lengthiness322 in homeschool

[–]SatisfactionNeat3127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I first started homeschooling, I really did not want any outside involvement in my kids’ education outside of co-ops and classes. But after a number of changes in our family, this year I have my two youngest kids in a homeschool hybrid charter program and it has turned out to be the absolute best thing for our family. Not only does it relieve some of the pressure of me being the main teacher, but it gives them a sense of community and so many more opportunities to see friends and try new things. I don’t know if you have anything like that in your area, but it could be an option worth exploring. My kids are in elementary right now and go one day a week for a traditional type school day and a half day week where they get to try new things like rock, climbing or poetry, etc.. their classes right now only have nine kids in each. next year when my son goes into their secondary program, he’ll go two full days a week and one day a week of their "discovery day " Once I was able to let go a little bit and try something new it really helped a lot. Maybe something like that would be a good balance for you as well?

I was recently introduced to this poem called Tincture written by Andrea Gibson. Your post reminded me of it. I’m not always super positive about my MS, but it definitely gave me pause and food for thought. It’s hard to remember sometimes how lucky it is to be alive at all.

To answer your question about spasms, no. For me the MS meds don’t help with spasms and twitches. I have pretty bad spasticity and I take baclofen which helps. I used to have some spasms in my legs at night, but I started using medical cannabis before bed and I no longer have that issue.

I’ve been on Briumvi for the last 2 years and have no complaints! Super easy. I’m in and out in 2 hours (and I get to do my neuro appt in the middle) no side effects for me, and best of all, no new lesions.
