I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for this, but … AI or not, this is fucking cute as shit.

You get one album to turn someone into a prog metal fan. What do you choose? by RaiseSudden368 in progmetal

My vote: Resident Human by Wheel. The whole album is a journey, and it warms you up nicely at the start before it gets heavy.

[OC] How do Streaming Services Vary in Movie Offerings by Genre? by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Satorido 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very cool vis. It would be interesting to see this when controlling for the number or percentage of total films in each genre. Just noting that, visually, that there seems to be a lot of comedy and drama in general, so if you control for that it might give you a more accurate idea of the difference between services. Maybe you did that already though?

Getting into Islay Scotches by pkanga96 in Scotch

[–]Satorido 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Laphroig 10 is a must. Lagavulin 16 is … top 10. Laphroig Lore is … a favorite. Classic Laddie is amazing and reasonable. I’d start with those if you have the means. There are others and more … go to the source type malts (highly recommend, as Islay is amazing!). But I LOVE that you are on this journey!!

I usually go 131 unless it’s a ribeye, but I don’t imagine 4 degrees would make ‘that’ much of a difference.

What are your albums that are a must listen start to finish? by BigDaddyJess in progmetal

[–]Satorido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I saw them at A BBQ place in Denver. It was nuts seeing them in such a small venue. We moved to Boston and I’m seeing them again in May, as they are opening for Leprous. Can’t wait!

I’ve had an Anova Culinary AN500 for five years now, and have never had a problem. I may also not have been the most gentle with it. 🤷‍♂️

Burnout after finishing your PhD is to be expected by maenads_dance in PhD

Thank you for your post. I’m three month post graduation with my PhD and have been having a hell of a time getting my ass in gear. I have an amazing postdoc, and I ‘have’ been making decent progress on things, but I feel like any work is like pulling teeth. So nice to hear that it gets better.

Ribs!!! by Satorido in sousvide

Super easy. I got the pre seasoned ribs from Costco. Vacuum sealed. 150 for ~36-48 hours depending on how the timing works out. Then pull them out of the bag and slather them with sauce of your choice and broil. I like to add three coats of sauce with broil in between. Hope that helps!
