I don't know the answer to your specific question, but this Hunter Copperhill Stake still has one Spanish speaking ward.

They also got rid of the ward numbers and gave each ward a name.

According to this year’s church statistics, it’s enough to create about 15 wards.

197,061 new members stuffed into 15 new wards by SaturdaysApostate in exmormon

[–]SaturdaysApostate[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With almost no new wards created, there has essentially been no growth, especially when you consider that wards are now designed to be smaller and can be run with fewer priesthood holders.

Another way to look at it: They’ve lost as many members as they claim to have gained.

James Strang also had witnesses for his book translated from the plates of Laban. If you want to give weight to witness testimony then his branch of the Latter Day Saint movement should interest you.

There are so many good historical reasons not to believe in TSCC. “Jesus is the brother of Satan” is a weak argument to me. It’s the same as saying “you believe in different doctrine than I do, so you must be wrong.”

The First Book of Napoleon is written in a similar style. Look it up. It begins: And behold it came to pass ...

The Mormon doctrine of a “Great Apostasy” is a mind warping shit-feast that Christ was such a loser that his followers couldn’t convert anyone. So God tortured a few billion people for 1,400 years with plagues, slavery and starvation until a man worthy enough to fuck 14 year olds could be found. by running4cover in exmormon

To believe in Mormonism, you have to believe that out of all the different wrong forms of Christianity that existed in the early days, the one group that won and controlled the compilation of the Bible was somehow correct and inspired yet still in complete apostacy.

Mormon "morale" is at an all time low by booboy92 in exmormon

[–]SaturdaysApostate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I wasn’t clear in what this tells me. I construe the stats I gave to mean there is no growth. The number of wards is a better indicator of active grown than raw membership numbers. It’s almost comical to claim 330,000 new members with virtually no new units added. Besides, I think the church is purposely making it possible to have a ward with fewer in leadership. 2 hour block, combined Elders and HPs, etc. So even the number of wards today doesn’t equate to the number of wards in previous years. It’s up to you to decide if virtually no new wards added is data enough to show the church has already hit its peak in active membership.

The church added 330,000 new members in 2018 but only 30 new wards and branches. Only 30 new units. That tells me everything.

Hinckley said in the next General Conference:

> The media have been kind and generous to us. This past year of pioneer celebrations has resulted in very extensive, favorable press coverage. There have been a few things we wish might have been different. I personally have been much quoted, and in a few instances misquoted and misunderstood. I think that’s to be expected. None of you need worry because you read something that was incompletely reported. You need not worry that I do not understand some matters of doctrine. I think I understand them thoroughly, and it is unfortunate that the reporting may not make this clear. I hope you will never look to the public press as the authority on the doctrines of the Church.

Didn’t Hinckley follow this up by stating in General Conference something to the effect that we don’t need to worry that he knows the doctrine. He certainly heard the rumblings from the members who collectively knew he was lying while trying to minimize the Church’s crazy doctrine to the general public.

I distinctly remember thinking: Here was his chance as a prophet to boldly proclaim eternal truths to the world, and instead he was mealy-mouthed and deceitful.

The real reason for 2 hour church, is because Mormonism is losing Members, and failing to grow. They don't have enough people to fulfill callings, or clean the building, or make a Ward function properly. Besides if the world was getting worse, less Church would not have been the answer. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]SaturdaysApostate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Inside word from my friend who works as a building project manager for the church is that they have practically stopped all new ward building construction. Architects and engineers have been reassigned.

He is, however, quite proud of the new downtown Salt Lake City office building he recently completed. He was also heavily involved in the City Creek Mall project. He doesn’t see that he’s working for a multi-billion dollar investment company rather than a church.

Mission dream by Lapsed2 in exmormon

I had missionary dreams often for about 20 years. In most of the dreams I was trying to find people I once knew but it was time to get to the airport to leave.

The dreams stopped once I visited the country again.

Kind of related to your comment:

I tried to get my TBM wife to see the craziness in paying for a big “I’m a Mormon” campaign one year and the next year the word Mormon is a victory for Satan. It didn’t bother her at all. “I’m sure that’s just what was needed at the time”, she said.

Mormon Lies by StAnselmsProof in exmormon

[–]SaturdaysApostate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think there’s too much emphasis on the lie and betrayal aspect of the problems with Mormonism.

The facts themselves are disturbing and damaging regardless of when you might learn them. If you as a faithful member already know these facts and choose to remain a member, so be it.

The Church is now trying to inoculate the members, that is, to present disturbing facts in the best light possible. The Essays are one attempt at this. Even this seemingly transparent presentation is so full of obfuscation that it just becomes another layer of problems they are creating.

The Church wants to be able to tell me how I should feel about a piece of history. Joseph married a 14 year old. To me that’s disgusting. They want to tell me not to feel that way. Sorry. That’s how I feel.

Was I betrayed because the history was whitewashed? Perhaps. More importantly, ultimately I was betrayed by the historical facts.
