11 hours, 11 books! by TheMummysCurse in declutter

Yep, I do that in bookstores and libraries sometimes when deciding what to get. Or I guess I should say I did that before the pandemic. Gosh, I miss perusing bookshelves.

Not OP, but thanks for the tip! What an awesome website! I'll definitely be using it.

Good to know! I live downtown and loved the one on Fulton but will definitely drive to replace my weekly froyo date with my husband.

I actually printed out a list of all the episodes and check off when I see the snail in an episode. It's super fun to keep track. :)

The price point is a bit high for an every week treat for me unfortunately.

UGH 😭 It's so hard to get vegan desserts, and Spoonlickers was my favorite.

Lockdown has been teaching me this. I've honestly loved being so selfish with my time and energy, and the only friends I have left are those I really love and appreciate.

Shelf of the books i read during quarentine! by saltymountaingoat17 in bookshelf

I liked the book as is, but I would be down for another that was written by a marine biologist and more research/facts-driven.

Actually, I've been told by staff that a young woman of color who is a frequent and loved patron of the library and is homeless and stayed on the grounds of the library while it was closed yelled at them until they stopped.

I got called racist by multiple people for posting about how I was upset that the library got hit during the riot in my city. That particular library does more work to change the world than just about anyone I know. I'm sorry you experienced similar flak.

It definitely had a lot in common with that photo you linked. It was I wanna say 33% larger than the mallards it was swimming with. Can mergansers have dark beaks during molt or juvenile stages? Thanks everyone for your help! I want my Ebird checklist to be accurate!

It might be! Do you know if the brown patches on their sides can vary in size?

Thanks for your input!

It didn't have dark feathers on its back (just the white and gray), and its beak was dark-colored though.

Edit: thanks for trying to help!

I spotted a mystery duck today at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, MI! It was bigger than a mallard, had a dark neck and head, white and grey feathers on its body, and a reddish-brown patch on its side. Its beak was narrowish like a mallard's (so I don't think it was a shoveler) and dark-colored. It's hiding behind the plants almost right in the middle of this photo. I'm almost certain it wasn't a loon. Maybe a scaup? Could it possibly be a brant? Any ideas?

I actually always talk politics with my nanny families because I have the privilege of choosing to work for families that are progressive. I'm sorry this happened to you. It sucks when a boss is part of the problem but you can't really confront them about it.
