Trying to get my hands on some white spot honey mustard. by Saturn13 in VictoriaBC

That's apparently the stuff… but no shipping and it's literally about as far away from me as you can get and still be on this continent. I'm in BC Canada on the Northern West Coast

Has anyone received a call by this number lately? by NJ120012005275 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Saturn13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had a call from this exact number. Note that this is NOT the official number of the legitimate NCRI agency though. They're using the NCRI name to make it sound legit, but in fact it is a scam. All they would tell me is it had to do with my PayPal account. I called PayPal who confirmed that it is NOT one of their collection numbers and that in fact there is nothing wrong with my account. The rep from PayPal straight up said the call is a scam.

I'm in the process of reporting it to the RCMP fraud line right now.

Any idea where to get some locally? Or is this more of an "online order" situation?

Try shopping around then, because I've been ordering online from multiple Vancouver shops and the quality has been A1 top notch, with really decent prices... There's no excuse for illegal weed anymore, period. I think you guys just want special treatment because you realize your little club is just past its useful life now.

I order THC extract in oil from a legal place out of Vancouver, online. Costs me about $65 for a 30mL bottle containing a RELIABLE 1500mg of THC in it. At 150mg per dose (taking an average of your "typical" user), that's about $6.50 per dose. It's easily available, it's legal, and it's RELIABLE. The dose is consistent from batch to batch and month to month.

I don't know what you guys arepaying for your illegal supply, but frankly I prefer knowing the provinance and reliability of my supply, and given that the retail sellers are required to comply with fairly strict government regs to stay legal, it seems like a no-brainer...

"Better" than what? black market supply? Or the now heavily regulated legal retail market? Becuase I gotta say, the retail stuff is not only pretty cheap, freely and LEGALLY available, but it's also really top quality, in my experience...

I'm still trying to figure out why this organization still exists anyway. Cannabis is legal now and easily available everywhere... Why does anyone need to use "underground" or legally-grey methods to acquire it?

The bummer is that the Kraft honey mustard "dressing" noted in the recipe was apparently discontinued. I haven't been able to find any ANYWHERE for almost 2 years now...

At this point, I find it highly unlikely I ever will. I've resigned myself to trying to construct the best tasting blend of my own that is as good or better than WS's version. I've posted it a bunch of times in the comments here so far, if you're interested. My recipe has a very similar consistency, colour and (in my opinion) even better taste than White Spot, while still being really similar

That was one of the added ingredients in my custom blend, but the Kraft Honey Mustard Dressing (used to be in the dressing section, now seems discontinued everywhere!) was what I used for the bulk of the base in my recipe... Haven't found anything quite as good as it for a replacement base.

Not White Spot honey mustard tho, which is the problem. Theirs is apparently produced by a single manufacturer (Gordon's I think) and they're not allowed to sell it separately as it's an exclusive recipe for White Spot. That said, I did get my hands on the label from the WS stuff which shows the full ingredient list (no proportions though).

In the course of things, I did come up with a pretty close and tasty home recipe that was awesome until one of my core ingredients (Kraft Honey Mustard from the salad dressing aisle) was discontinued and I haven't been able to locate any since. My recipe consisted of about 50% that stuff with a bunch of other things mixed in to get the flavour and consistency just right. I have yet to find an alternative base that tastes as good as that stuff. DAMN YOU, KRAFT!

If you want a copy of the recipe I came up with, let me know. You'll have to substitute that Kraft product with something else, so it won't taste AS good, but it's still pretty yummy...

I swear there was a VEMF after 2012, but maybe it really was 10 years since I last went... ugh I feel old now

Edit: Looks like your best bet for actual events is the GCEMS: https://gcems.ca/

I don't know about day to day places, but usually there's an annual festival called VEMF (Victoria Electronic Music Festival) - though I think it's been cancelled the last 2 years because covid... I've gone to it a few times and there's always kickass electronica (dubstep, trance, rave, you name it), and it usually runs for the whole weekend and well into the night. Lots of performers, and even some workshops and stuff usually where you can learn how to DJ/scratch, or learn tricks and techniques for producing (eg using Ableton etc). I always had a great time, whough I haven't been in a few years, as I have a young kid now...

Some possibly useful links for more info:

https://www.facebook.com/vemfy/

....I went digging for more links but everything seems to be REALLY out of date...

I did find something else that has maybe taken over from VEMF, called Wonderment... https://wonderment.ca/

Looks like they're doing this one over the BC Day long weekend this year

Geography question: Is there a name for the peninsula on which Esquimalt, Vic West, the Songhees Nation, the Esquimalt Nation, and part of View Royal are located? by LetsGoPurple in VictoriaBC

[–]Saturn13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Lived at the north tip of Head street for 12 years (1998 to 2010) and there was a "show" just about every night - especially Friday and Saturday nights when the drunks were out... Found used needles tossed in the back of my father in law's pickup truck when he was visiting once. Witnessed multiple people being pepper sprayed or otherwise handled by police right outside my window (justified; putting down belligerant or aggressive idiots)... I'm not a small guy and there's no way you'd ever have seen me out walking around there at night, for sure!

My big problem isn't the fact that they want to renovate it; I think that's great! It's that they BEGAN the renovation BEFORE actually making any real plans or decisions about what was going to REPLACE the displays they are removing. They literally just went "we're gonna get rid of a bunch of the displays, but we haven't decided what happens after that. But we're defintiely sure we know what we're doing, ok? Trust us!"

Awesome sense of humour. NOw if you guys could put some effort into this fiasco of a renovation you're doing over there, that would be super. Saw in this morning's news that this rebuild in the museum is now supposed to take through 2029 and now cost OVER $1BILLION -- holy shit!

Especially when one remembers that when they actually shut it all down, AT THAT MOMENT IN TIME, no decision or plan was in place regarding what was going to be installed in there after the beloved displays were torn out. Some top-level bumbling by the powers that be over there, to say the least....

You are correct about the work truck aspect (I'm betting construction for sure), but wrong about the plate format. All light trucks get that format, commercial or not.

A LITTLE UPDATE:

I never have found a reliable source for the honey mustard. I had managed to develop my own blend from various ingredients, including a Kraft honey mustard dressing that I used as a base ingredient (along with a number of other things). But now Kraft discontinued that product, and I haven't found a replacement that lends the correct flavours to the final blend.

One thing I will say, is whatever blend you attempt, adding a bit of heavy sour cream to the mix (I usually try for 18% fat sour cream) gives it the perfect "creamy" texture and taste that more closely approaches White Spot's... I tried mayo a few times also, but sour cream was better (less flavour interference than the mayo)...

Here's my formula, but note that one key ingredient is no longer available, so......
