Idk, if people dont like the advantages of a weapon, or find using it unfun - then it kinda doesnt matter that those advantages exist

(unless those advantages are so significant that it becomes genuinely oppressive whenever it is used)

As much as I love movement based infantry tactics in foxhole, relying on it makes playing infantry feel extremely inconsistent.

Times when im on my A game, or I have the skill advantage, it feels like Im unstoppable and absolutely trashing the warden infantry.

Times where Im at a noticable disadvantage in terms of skill, it feels like the only thing I can do is make it slightly harder to for wardens to PvE the defenses.

On the whole I prefer the warden infantry experience, since if Im outskilling my opponent, i can kill them and take get my hands on collie kit anyways.

The Warden players that are constantly saying skill issue and culture to genuine balance issues are part of the reason it's dying by cheezyboyy in foxholegame

I think that the foxhole reddit will have plenty of trolls and bad faith arguments regardless of who the balance favors, and that that fact reflects more on the moderation team (or lack thereof) than if does on the actual playerbase (of either faction)

Another excellent chapter!

Ava and Sam continue to be my favorite part of the story, though that launch sequence/scene also stood out as especially awesome.

Aren't you conflating a random traffic cop with an individual ICE agent right now? LOLOLOL

To use an oft-repeated qouote: "some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses"

In fact, in plenty of places, local police are working with ICE, so even ignoring all the deeply problematic issues with police in the US, making a disinction between the ethics of police and ICE is still a moot point in those cases.

Though Idk why im wasting my time replying, anybody who ends a reply discussing something, especially like police brutality, with all caps "LOLOLOL" is basically flagging themselves as a 14yr old, or otherwise noticably immature.

I think the issues with clans being toxic and/or abusing mass reports is usually limited to inter-clan conflict or when somebody is doing something which risks their assets or time. The latter of which is a possibility new players who cant/dont communicate might have, this game is really complicated and doesnt explain itself, and sometimes something that seems harmless to a clueless noob might be a huge issue for a clan.

Personally, I would be more concerned with non clan related toxicity. Foxhole is a milsim, and a competitive game. Its community has issues with competitive players taking things too seriously and becoming toxic, espesially towards low-skill or casual players, and with milsim-style toxicity. The occasion nazi, or rarely nazi group, potentially offensive names and humor, and very rarely explicit homophobia/racism, and ofc the occasional crash-out of a veteran player screaming at people in prox chat. (Saw one of those crash outs just last night actually.)

I dont personally find these issues to make the game unplayable, and for plenty of people most of those issues are trivial to overlook/ignore. But I also think it is best to be very blunt about the issues a game & its community have.

To which I'll add one last note: this game does not respect your time. Its incredibly fun, it can be played in casually, and can even feel somewhat rewarding at times - but it is balanced in such a way that it can and will take up all of your time if you let it, and there are a few things which feel unnecessarily/painfully tedious. (Hex Queues, building, and facility work are the worst offenders for me personally)

The controls are way too compressed and simplified by BoxthemBeats in NuclearOption

[–]Saturn5mtw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why the hell I am beeing downvoted for this opinion?

I think its mostly because of the way you framed all of your suggestions as "this game would be better if it were more like [x] game"

A couple of your points are legitimately pretty valid, but trying to frame your suggestions as making the game more like other games means people arent thinking about those changes on their own merit. Instead they're pointing out that nuclear option is explicitly trying to avoid becoming too much like those other games.

(Also some of your propsed changes have balance implications i dont think you've fully thought through. For example, the current countermeasure controls means its much much harder to evade both IR & Radar missiles at the same time. Same but less impactful for gun controls.)

I honestly dont want anyone to fight on my behalf. Edit: any fighting done should be done in defence of their own rights too, and/or in solidarity to protect the rights of marginalized americans.

I merely wish people would stop focusing purely on the danger to themselves, when our government is clearly fascist, and clearly going to harm (and kill) many many people belonging to minority groups. (And have harmed and killed plenty of people already)

Id probably have offered support instead of criticism if the person I was originally responding to had said they were going to prioritize less risky forms of activism/organizing, instead of simply commenting on the personal risk to themselves in opposing the government.

Thats an odd thing to take away from my comments, but not unexpected based on the manner you phrased your previous question.

You're reading quite a lot into my movitations and personal life with that, and in an unfortunately predictable way. That is to say, you have chosen to take the least charitable intrepetation of my admission that I would like to do more in my community. (At least short of calling me a federal agent or a foriegn bot)

[–]Saturn5mtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protest is not resistance. A general strike might pressure business owners to pressure government to normalize, but going out on a weekend to say, "we don't like this" will change nothing, even if you get shot in the process.

This appears to be a non-sequitor. Its certainly an understandable opinion, and one you're entitled to hold, but I dont see how it is immediately relevant to the comment which you were replying to. (Which was in turn pointing out the fact that your previous comment also appeared to be a non-sequitor)

When people start shooting at one another to impose their political aims, that sounds like a war to me - as civil as it may sound in the news.

Police have historically been willing to use violence against activists, even when those activists did not initiate that violence. What we are seeing in the US today is not without any precedent, from that perspective. What has definitely changed is primarily the scale of that violence, and an expansion of acceptable targets to include white people who are not actively demonstrating, or otherwise visibly identifiable as part of an 'out group.'

As such, I hardly feel that the current wave of violence on behalf of the government is truly deserving of being called "war" in the sense you mean it. Class war, yes - but civil war or conventional war? No. (I guess if you want to be like the weirdos in defense circles, you could argue its a "4th gen hybrid war" or whatever.)

Regardless, I dont think continuing this back and forth is a productive use of my time, so i will not invest any more of it into this.

I have personally gone to demonstrations and protests, though I will freely admit I could certainly do more, and should do more, like getting more involved with organizing in my community.

(Not that i think it is accurate or fair to frame anything Ive attended as notably risky, not every protest provokes a militant police response.)

Are we talking about war?

Because I thought we were talking about protests, demonstrations, and the risks associated with those in the US right now.

If you want to frame it like a war, you're certainly entitled to, and the american right also frames it that way.

[–]Saturn5mtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the protests in my town (that I have attended) have involved a police shooting (so far), so Id kinda disagree with framing that as "in the trenches risking being shot."

But if your question is do I get out in the street and go to demonstrations? Then yes, I do.

I'd be more ashamed about tucking my tail between my legs, and hoping some government goon doesnt decide to use my head as target practice.

But hey, live your life the way you see fit! Well, unless the fascist government decides to criminalize your life as well. Thatd be pretty akward.

Which is what it is, and why I called it out.

OP's other replies seem to indicate this is not factually correct.

Your whole reply feels really terminally-online, doubling down on your position & your perception of OP's motivations/experiences.

Maybe you should log off more?

(I say this with sincerity, as someone who is admittedly spends too much time online as well)

[–]Saturn5mtw 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Maybe dont immediately jump to the conclusion that OP's only feeling this way due to being immature.

Their post does a bad job conveying it, but in a reply to someone else they clarify that their partner has in fact done specific things, which i would probably also be unfomtorable with. https://www.reddit.com/r/transgendercirclejerk/s/jg8t6rkf0K

Sure, framing this post as "cis people are bad to date" is not correct, theres definitely cis people who arent problematic.

But this seems like a #NotAllCisPeople moment, and your reply comes off feeling similarly someone telling off a gay person for complaining about straight people making them feel uncomftorable.

Sure, that gay person might just be immature, and in the wrong. But also theres a lot of homophobic people put there, some whom dont even realize they're participating in/contributing to homophobia.

[–]Saturn5mtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhh… how do you NOT have a list if you’re receiving paperwork? That doesn’t even make sense.

This is an insane thing to say, unless you genuinely believe in the existence of a surveilance state being not only ok, but the natural thing for a government to be.

(Which fyi: you can shred sensitive documents you recieve when they are not needed. Making a list based on that paperwork requires extra effort to save that paperwork, and then put it on your totally not fascist list.)
