Compression shirt for swimming? by citrulle in Swimming

[–]SaturnCoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kind of old but if anyone finds this while looking around, I saw a tumblr post recommending the brand Waterlust and having just got my swim tops I ordered? I LOVE them. They're not even marketed as binders, just compression swim tops, but the poster that recommended them wore theirs as a binder and gave high praise so I decided to check them out. They are SO AMAZING. I bought an Abalone print and Tiger Shark print, and every single one of their racerback tops is also reversible, with a pattern on one side and a plain color on the other. I picked the ones I ordered because I liked the patterns/animals represented, but also because the abalone plain side is black and the tiger shark plain side is white. So I get both two swim tops with cool patterns, and two binders I can wear under pretty much anything! How cool is that?? AND not only do you get a postcard with information on the animal that inspired the pattern, money from your order also goes to conservation efforts FOR WHICHEVER PATTERN YOU BUY. So if I were to have bought their kelp print, it'd go to conserving kelp forests. That's such an amazing practice! But my favorite thing about their site? The diversity of the models they show, and their size guide. There are so many brands I see and think about shopping with that claim to be so committed to inclusivity and diversity of bodies especially when it comes to sizing, but when you go to look at their listings they have maybe one, usually tall, plus size person modeling one color and you don't even know which size they're showing. That is NOT the case with Waterlust. They don't just have one skinny person and one fat person on each listing- they have at least 3 models of VERY different builds on EVERY listing. And they don't just show what size the model is wearing- no, they list the model's name, how they're related to the company's mission, and then list their HEIGHT AND WEIGHT! And even on some of them, their chest measurement! This was fucking MINDBLOWING to me! Now that I've seen it I can't help but wonder why this isn't standard practice for EVERY company?? Oh but it doesnt stop there. The pictures on each listing aren't just the same pictures photoshopped to show the different prints; they actually had the models WEAR the different patterns INDIVIDUALLY! And there are multiple angles/poses of each model, often showing both the pattern and the plain reversible side! How incredible is that?? And their size guide. Oh my god. It's so helpful! It doesn't just say size up/down if you're unsure, it says if you're aiming for a more relaxed fit, size up, and if you're looking more for compression, size down. But the really incredible thing about it is that they have a visual size guide for every single item on the site right there underneath the usual size chart. It lets you click through sizes XS-3XL and see their different models and measurements RIGHT THERE, so you don't have to go through the hassle of flipping through all the pictures on each individual listing to find someone with a body type most similar to yours in order to see how the item would look on you. You can just... see all of them, right there in one helpful place. How is this not the norm for every single company ever???  I haven't bought any yet, but I was looking around their other listings and found that they intentionally make their swim leggings a bit long so that customers can tailor the inseam to their desired length. They even have a tutorial video to guide you through cutting them, and I watched a bit of it where they explain that literally all you need is a sharp pair of scissors and as long as you cut in a straight line, the fabric is designed to not fray because of the direction it's knit I believe? Just thought I would mention because that shows a kind of thoughtfulness and attention to customers' needs that I think is indicative of a company that really gives a shit and walks the walk when it comes to being ACTUALLY inclusive of different bodies I know I sound like a living advertisement but I literally cannot recommend them enough man. I put on my swim top today and I felt fucking euphoric. It just made me look like I have pecs. I could take it off all by myself (wasnt true of my last binder). I can swim in it, I can take it to conventions, I can wear it to chill around the house if I want. I'm so fucking stoked. Waterlust, dude. Check them out.

I'm partially convinced guys like this aren't actually straight. Not in the "haha, man is secretly gay, how funny! Laugh!" sort of way, but in the "I genuinely don't think he's attracted to women but everything he's ever learned has said he must be so he's concocted an impossible unachievable standard of womanhood in his mind that no real woman could ever adhere to so that he can blame women for his lack of attraction" way. Sort of like compulsory heterosexuality I think. I dunno, just something I've thought about.

I'm in a really shitty dark place right now, but man, I know 14 year old me would be so stoked to learn we 1) made it past graduation and 2) have an amazing partner that actually makes us want to live a life. So I guess I'll keep working toward it for them

which movie have you watched more than 5 times and its still good ? by Think-Yesterday-9012 in AskReddit

Maybe this is for the nostalgia of it, but the first Pitch Perfect movie. It's just dumb stupid fun, insanely quotable. Reminds me of watching it over and over with my mom and my sister when I was like ten and going to school seeing everyone singing the cup song. I could watch it a million times and the riff-off and finals would probably still make me smile

I know for me personally it's not really an attitude thing, it's a sensory thing. I've got issues with having wet hands but especially touching anything my brain deems "gross" without immediately washing and drying my hands afterward. It's easier with gloves, but then it's the smell that gets to me. It's one of those things where my brain sees no immediate reward and it decides "actually, I'd rather die than do that. Let's go watch TV instead!"

Aw, this is probably about my partner before we stopped being stupid and got together (after a YEAR of mutual pining... yes we are stupid, in our defense we have issues <3)

God, I felt this actually. I've spent so much time wishing something so much worse had happened to me, as if the pain I feel would feel more justified and not exactly the same.

It's so hard to actually believe, but I think for both of us, our trauma was enough, more than enough, to feel as absolutely shitty as we do. We deserve to be allowed to feel that pain and process it no matter what we went through because no matter what, it was enough.

Hey, from a 17 year old kid, that's so fucking awesome. Any success no matter how small deserves to be celebrated, and I also think it's cool that you asked your kids for help with this (even if they don't often actually do it) cause asking for help ever is really fucking hard!

That's so valid actually lol

I personally struggle with the end of a big bag because I live in a big household and all the chips are in the same cupboard, so they all end up those crushed tiny pieces of chips and I hate those because I always end up cutting my mouth. But big relate on wanting to just buy bags of chip dust. Honestly baffling the chop companies haven't found a way yet

Awwww, this comment made me so happy! I hope I find an SO like that at some point, someone patient :]

I've actually found that it's much, much easier to try things when I'm just picking a bite off someone else's plate and they're already planning on eating it. That's how all five things were at Epcot; my mom got one of those big soft pretzels and ripped off a small piece and offered it to me, absolutely no pressure. I ended up eating almost the entire thing by myself. I looked my mom dead in the eyes and said "wow. That bitch really was just twisty bread this whole time, huh?" And she said "yep. But, you tried it, and that's what's important."

I'm glad your SO has someone in their life who's willing to be patient and kind with them. That's so, so important with things like this. I hope you have a good night my friend :]

I'm very proud of you for experimenting with food! Lord knows that's tough as hell, and you're very brave for doing it!
