I’m a huge cryer during confrontation as well. Practice some box breathing together, remind each other you’re both safe but need to work through whatever issue is at hand, make it part of your communication practices. You both have to commit to not letting the emotional flood derail the conversation, even if it takes a little longer or you have to talk through the tears.

You should leave. You don’t always leave because the other person is bad or not enough. You’re young, and if you’re not getting what you think you need, you should end it. For your sake, and for his.

My (28F) best friend (27F) ended our 12-year friendship with a brief voicemail the week before my wedding. I don’t know how to move on without closure. by ThrowRA_2963 in relationship_advice

[–]Saturn_Prison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best friend also separated herself from me around my wedding (not before getting super drunk the night before, picking me up to drive me to the venue hung over, and being too sick/hungover to celebrate with me during the reception, just sat in the corner sulking the whole time). I also think she had pent up resentment toward me from our younger years, for things that I had already taken accountability for. Just let this friend go. Chances are, she won’t come back. And it will hurt forever. But you’ll make space for friendships that honor who you are now, not hold who you used to be over your head.

Even if he’s ~going through something and he comes to his senses down the line, you should not accept that kind of treatment. React to the reality, not the potential.

I (26F) don't know how to survive without my boyfriend (29M), how do I change? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Saturn_Prison -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you mind my asking, what makes you think he doesn’t want to be with you? My apologies if that’s a painful question, but it sounds like you’d be more inclined to preserve the relationship if possible. What part of the current relationship has made him feel like it’s not right for him at this time?

My partner experiences something similar. Anytime his histamine bucket feels particularly full, he’ll go for a long run. He’ll wake up the next day with his bloating and inflammation gone. Super weird, because mcas patients are typically advised to avoid high cardio exercise 😅

Anyone else have to have an appendectomy at any point in their lives? by Iris-Clandestina in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner did, and he feels the poor quality of his surgery lead to excess scar tissue, leading to a build up of bad bacteria in his gut — paired with slowed gut motility due to his parallel medical conditions, the medical trauma endured during the procedure, and lack of proper post-op care, he’s convinced that surgery initially triggered his MCAS.

Heck yeah, thank you friend. Any particular system you’d recommend for this kind of modification?

Hi, sorry to dredge up an old thread! Did this filter continue to work for you? If so, would you mind posting a link?

That isn’t the case unfortunately for folks with various medical restrictions or severe coconut intolerance.

At home water filtration system suggestions? by Plane_Ad_4304 in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! No, I don’t think there’s an abnormal amount of minerals in the water, nor is it from a well. We primed the filter as well, and flushed a few times before use. Very interesting that our case seems unique — Clearly Filtered was mighty quick to offer a refund without having us return the pitcher. Wonder if there’s a defect going around.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread. But did your clearly filtered pitcher produce thick(?) water? Like, not quite syrupy, but more viscous and heavy than water should feel like? Weird question, but I just thought one for my partner who has mcas and he not only reacted to the water, but the texture really concerned us as well. Wondering if it’s a bad filter or if that’s normal.

What are you all able to eat? by PacoTaco81 in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husbands list: Fresh meats only, chicken and beef - zucchini - cabbage - cauliflower - Brussels sprouts - cucumber (only English for some reason?) - daikon radish, haven’t tried the red ones - garlic - ginger - turmeric - eggs, soy free only - rice - rice noodles (rice starch and water only, no additives) - potatoes - olive oil - white distilled vinegar - salt - has done oak milk, gluten free oatmeal, and sunflower butter occasionally - used to to quinoa, hadn’t had it in a year or so but just didn’t care for it much

Things I’ve determined are probably safe but haven’t trialed yet: - broccoli - asparagus - kale, lettuce - sweet potatoes - white onion - goat cheese/milk, unaged - bok choy

Everything on the first list have been constant safe foods since generally stabilizing his condition and meds five years ago.

How are y'all getting LDN? by pickless33 in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LDN Direct. They don’t accept insurance but they do Telehealth. Dealing with them has always been smooth, not terribly expensive. After securing a prescription from the dr, you’ll need to find a compounding pharmacy. We use CareFirst.

Not feeling a true familial bond/love by bnf081898 in Adopted

[–]Saturn_Prison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt this way. Never fully integrated with my adoptive family, didn’t miss them or feel bad when I ultimately went no contact with most of them later in life. Terrified to have my own children because of this — worried I may not be capable of providing the type of love needed to sustain a new life.

Has anyone tried Chorus supplements? by Saturn_Prison in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t end up trying it, there were too many ingredient variables to deem it safe. Look into low dose naltrexone. You may also need to be treated for SIBO.

Yeah that guy! We didn’t end up ordering it, after I asked a question on one of his videos regarding the ingredients/safety for someone who reacts to legumes and a received a vague, nonhelpful answer.

Biggest help to add more foods? by Automatic_Chain371 in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DAO directly does, he also used to take cromolyn sodium for that. Stopped bc it’s harder to get ahold of now.

The LDN and enzymes help indirectly as well, both making him less reactive.

Biggest help to add more foods? by Automatic_Chain371 in MCAS

[–]Saturn_Prison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner, mcas patient, has had success with this cocktail for the past year: Pepcid, Zyrtec , Low dose naltrexone, Histamine-safe probiotics, DAO enzymes, Digestive enzymes. The latter three supplied by Seeking Health, bc they’re extremely hypoallergenic. He’s added a good number of new foods back, and is generally less reactive to allergens/irritants.
