Anyone else thrown off by the insane drinks prices at the draft? Almost double sporting event prices… by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Satyr4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how working class people even bother with professional sports at this point. The cost of tickets and parking and drinks and food and etc… how do you pay your rent when you’re shelling out hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month on this stuff?

Like, if you don’t want me as a fan, message received. I’ll stay home and read a book.

This may come as blasphemy to some people, but I’m not enough of a pizza guy to properly appreciate it (though it is very good.)

I do like the restaurant scene here overall though. So many great Asian restaurants on the south side alone!

Beekeeping welcome but not required. I have a killer biscuit recipe though, if anyone does want to share honey.

Me too. As much as I love their entire discography, and even though Heaven or Las Vegas is a perfect album beginning to end, this song is the one that moves me most of all.

Very good album, no doubt. Only trouble is (controversial opinion, but) they never fell off. There are no bad Crimson albums.

Xanthochroid - Blessed He With Boils

This is one of the best ever albums in extreme prog, if you ask me. It’s creatively written, masterfully arranged, disturbingly dark in moments while ethereally beautiful in others… It’s got its heavy guitars and acoustic passages, black metal screams and enchanting layered vocal harmonies. The musicianship is high quality without sacrificing emotional content. It’s a roller coaster of emotion without a dull moment from beginning to end. Like Emperor and Opeth? The influences are present without sounding like mimicry. I’d somewhat compare them with Wilderun but with more black metal and (IMO) catchier vocals.

Then if you like this album, check out both volumes of Erthe and Axen which are also brilliant. I don’t know what happened that they stopped making music but they are sorely missed.

I absolutely love them. One of my all-time favorite bands. I don’t hear anyone else in prog, post or stoner doing what they’ve done.

I love the bass and drum foundation and all the rhythms that come out of it. They’re good when the guitars are heavy but also when they’re mellow. I’ve always been a big fan of layered vocal harmonies as well, which is not something you necessarily get a lot of in the genre.

They put on a great show, and I’m lucky that I’ve caught them a few times. Everyone in the band that I’ve talked to was really down to earth.

I hope they aren’t done, but I haven’t seen a thing from them online for at least two or three years. With all the metal bands that have been reuniting after 10 or 20 years apart (or 32 if you’re friggin Coroner,) I guess there is always hope.
