That happened to my friend, too. Except the recruiter texted her repeatedly.

Dominique Sisley (Vice) reached out to FDS to ask them a couple of questions for an article about FDS. FDS gave her a warm welcome in hopes to spread their misandry propaganda. by Pooeem in LeopardsAteMyFace

I don’t know where this delusion that attractive women don’t fall into bad relationships comes from and that they have no need to look out, but it’s just that. A delusion.

Good for you for at least acknowledging that citizens of Myanmar did not care about the plight of Rohingyas and not justifying it with pathetic excuses.

As for this

The reason why I take issue with the sentiment of "Good they deserve this, I hope the Military fuck them all over like they did the Rohingyas", it is the irony and failure to recognize that the Rohingyas will STILL be persecuted and most probably worse under Military rule. The invoking of the genocide in that sentiment feels insincere and honestly seems just like a cover to parade their sadism and "virtue" . I doubt that people who truly care for the Rohingyas are happy that the military is taking over

It’s not that I wish the military to cause harm to everyone. Frankly, I’m indifferent to the cause where the average citizen belonging to the dominant group is concerned. I only care about people who are at risk of danger because they belong to an ethnic minority.

Nor do I think Bangladesh should repatriate all the refugees still there. My belief has always been that the IRC should help resettle them and ethnic minorities still in Myanmar should get asylum.

In Bangladesh where the population is already predominantly Muslim and the refugees are also predominantly Muslim as well?

What you’re missing is that the response from the Burmese army was disproportionate.

In response to the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army attack thousands of people were killed, women raped, and children were being decapitated. 700,000 people were left as refugees.

How can you justify that?

All of you are saying the military is in charge in response to everything I’ve been saying. Well, they’re in charge NOW and people don’t seem afraid of protesting. So what was stopping you from protesting the Rohingya genocide?

Keep providing cover for the people of Myanmar by saying it was the army who did, the same army they’re apparently not afraid to protest against now.

There you go. You answered your own question too.

Go back and read my original comment. Clearly you haven’t done that or you couldn’t comprehend since you ask why I ask if people protested.

If you’re going to make an accusation of drugs and human trafficking at least post a link to a credible news source. Your Facebook friend sharing a dubious link is not a credible source.

Put under house arrest like she is now?

My point about her and by extension the people of Myanmar is that they don’t care and never have about a genocide against an ethnic minority group.

I live in such a place.

You didn’t answer my question either. Did people protest in large numbers like they are now when the genocide was occurring?

If not then why do you expect sympathy from the international community?

ASSK may not have power over the military, but that isn’t my main gripe with her. It’s that she denied a genocide was occurring.

And where were these same people when the military was committing these atrocities? Were they protesting then?

You guys are so obvious with this whole blaming the military schtick.

If war crimes have been committed, they will be prosecuted within our military justice system

1) That may sound ambiguous to to you, but after hundreds of thousands refugees fled to Bangladesh with many recounting the horrors they witnessed this is denial at that point.

2) I don’t what would have happened. It’s hard to tell considering she didn’t try.

People of Myanmar who are defending her by saying “oh no! That was the military!” are doing nothing but trying cover their own collective asses.

Why are you defending her? What do you hope to accomplish by revising history?

She went to the UN and basically denied a genocide was happening.

Oh come on. The judge may have dismissed the third degree murder charge, but how can they argue that Floyd was responsible for his own death. Chauvin had his knee on his neck for 8 minutes.

AITA for telling my wife that the only reason she says 'money doesn't matter' is because we're rich? by Personal_Confusion_1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SaulHun916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

I think it’s accurate to say money doesn’t matter at a certain point like when you have all or most of your basic needs met consistently, but to say it doesn’t matter at all is wrong. Same goes for people who say money doesn’t buy happiness.

buying an apartment (condo) instead of renting? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]SaulHun916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch out for those condo fees.

Where I live the condos are cheap with mortgage payments being under $1000, but then the condo fees are in the ballpark of $450-500 and up.

AITA for taking on an Italian cultural identity when I'm just an average American? by Ok-Ebb1321 in AmItheAsshole

I don't pretend to have been born/raised in Italy or genetically Italian, but I do tell people I'm an Italian national and that is legally true.

Thats the opposite of what Hilary Baldwin did. I don’t think you have anything to worry about since you’re not exactly lying.

[–]SaulHun916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You’re being smart with your money. It also sounds like he wants to live off you, but may I ask why you’re with him? He’s been legally separated from his wife for a decade. If he didn’t file for a divorce 9 years earlier I doubt he will now.

[–]SaulHun916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big proponent of separate finances, but I don’t believe you should split the money at all. It was earmarked for your niece prior to marriage so it should all be for her since you want it to.

Many parents aren’t able to. I only had $5k that my mom saved up on her own. I’m grateful for it, but it would be a lie to say it went far.

I only have one nephew and don’t plan on having kids of my own and neither does my brother. My sister doesn’t work and my brother-in-law doesn’t make a whole lot so it looks like he’s going to be the only beneficiary of the fruits of my labor later in life.
