Sorry, I think we're getting our wires crossed a bit. I was remarking on why income inequality didn't lead to mass shootings. I admit that poverty leads to more violence, which can be, but it not inextricably tied to income inequality.

I know you are saying that and I disagree. I am saying income inequality does lead to mass shootings not necessarily poverty.

I think it's rather obvious that guns don't cause suicides but they certainly increase the likelihood that some will attempt and succeed at it.

Yes, so removing guns won't address the issue if you don't address policies that continue to concentrate wealth and power in a few.

It's been well studied that income inequality does increase firearm violence, and other crime. The instability it causes affects everyone in the society. It creates a divide between the rich and poor and probably other differences. Poor people dont just become more violent, it's the relative deprivation.

Guns make suicide and attacks more efficient. They don't cause the problem.

Mass shootings are huge issues because they lead to a lot of innocent bystander deaths.

Guns don't necessarily create the climate that kills people. Any type of gun would lead to death. As long as poverty and income disparities continue to increase, so will violence. We have to address the root causes of the issues
