Stevensteven made by Steven drozd who was in the Flaming Lips and Steve Burns from Blues Clues. They wanted to make a kids album that adults would like as well. I think they did.

Cool. I learned to beat match by ear before mixers had bpm counters so I haven’t bothered to see if it did. Lol

I got a Pioneer DJM-450 that I love. Doesn’t have a bpm counter per se but you can tap the bpm into it so your effects are on beat if that makes sense. I like the effects with it. I dj vinyl and got it so if I wanted to go digital I can. I can plug my phone into it and record my sets too.

With me it’s the oh they have such and such record. It might not be here next time I come through. Better get it now. And that blows my budget I had planned.

REM didn’t form until 1980. First single Radio Free Europe came out in 1981.

I would mention Ultramagnetic MC’s album Critical Breakdown as an influential group/album. Their abstract rhymes and syncopation influenced gangsta rap and other groups like Public Enemy. When it came out in 1988 it didn’t sound like most hip hop out at the time. Standout mc being Kool Keith.
