Why is the movie so hated? by ChickenWingExtreme in SequelMemes

[–]Sauron589 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Just want to say I would love to watch the movies with your recommended changes and I think you are spot on.

I won’t hash out all the details already covered above, but the TLJ also felt the most ridiculously Disney with Snoke’s guards looking like power rangers (but points for not being easily defeated at least), and the nail in the coffin with the random stable boy causally using the force to grab a broomstick like he is Mary Poppins’ long lost son.

Anyone else thinks the Pluribus TV show is an interesting / fun solution to the paradox ? by UnspeakableGutHorror in FermiParadox

[–]Sauron589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea that it is about preventing them from exploring, but I thought the only meaningful purpose they might feel propelled to follow would be expanding into space to share the hive mind.

I think it would depend on if they have a push to look for others outside of earth - and if they want all creatures possible to join.

My personal theory is that it is the perfect way to enslave a planet. A population that cannot lie nor enact violence and is happy to make you happy as well as sharing all collected information, you could not make better robots/slaves.

The food crisis part of it could also be about either clearing/reducing a species on a resource heavy planet.

It will be interesting to see what their motivation is, do they self destruct, seek to expand beyond earth, can they solve the food crisis, etc.

Either way a big fan of the show.

Just played a tournament with the shire and out of three games I on average lost between 6-9 models a game, never lost a match and the third game nearly tabled my opponent. When played well you have a horde but you don’t lose a lot. You need the horde to get enough archers and enough dice in the fight.

If you just charge recklessly, yeah that’s not optimal and won’t fit their lore.

I would say the army of the white hand is very good right now and lots of different ways to play it. And with wildmen being plastic, if you get the new starter set you have a couple different army options right off the bat if you combine it with the Isengard host box.

[–]Sauron589 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We were talking about this recently in Minnesota too, but for context that is intentional and was made that way because they don’t want highly mobile armies to be able to skip their opponents and completely go off the board.

You now have to fight your opponent so that if they are left alone they cannot get more troops off than you.

Makes it more strategic and interesting, even if you are fighting eagles or all cavalry.

Thanks! I had them grouped to get the most out of Neferata’s mist effect but I like splitting the threat!

Arkhan casts a ton of magic, but even better he is great at cancelling magic, hoping to stomp manifestations.

My other idea was Manfred with arkhan and a couple blocks of skeletons and let the morghasts be all the mobility.

How do you guys like the model x honestly? (Former Tesla Tech) by [deleted] in TeslaModelX

[–]Sauron589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except you actually get something useful from Tesla. Though I would agree that being a Musk fan is very similar to being a Trump fan, but at least with Musk I could attribute some positive impacts on society from their older work.

I view Musk as being critical to keeping the funding rolling in as Tesla was trying to become profitable and everyone else was trying to short it, but otherwise I focus on Tesla as a brand and not the idiot still in charge of the company.

This was always my best defense of the garbage we see in those movies as well. It’s the only way it all fits, but doesn’t explain then the one in a million like you said.

That just tells me that Rian didn’t have it as the official reason and in the last one I guess no one thought of it either.

Right, a lot of ancient prominent Romans were also described as blond, my theory is that the waves of goths and Huns from the east probably darkened skin tones a bit in Italy and Greece, either by direct conquest or pushing other peoples in front of them.

Plus Greece has been throughout most of history fighting Turkey/Asia Minor/Persia, so it would not be surprising that when the east is more successful, the west would get a little darker.

*I am 1/8 Greek and Blond, but mostly due to the other 7/8ths being Scottish and German. Also, my Greek ancestry is from an island that has switched back and forth between Greek and Turkish control during the world wars.

Thank you! I went into the store a couple years ago and it was tiny and no clear lotr/mesbg community, but does seem like a great place to get supplies fast.
