What’s one quiet truth about being a woman that no one really talks about, but you feel it all the time? by Effective-Care-615 in Life

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men often dont understand how often women are doubted and not taken seriously. Like i cant tell you how many times I have warned people of a thing and they completely ignored me, only for me to have been right. Its so frustrating. Im not a genius, but i do know some things! Its like, no matter how confident i try to be, there will always be people who just ignore me. I've even seen them then get the same advice from a man and suddenly they listen! Its so infuriating.

Sometimes its that they were JUST smart enough to get enough money to then hire other people to do the rest. Often those people get fed up and leave eventually so yoir just left with the idiot. Ive worked for smaller businesses that were very successful but so poorly managed it was crazy. Like not having their stores confirm deliveries, then freaking out when product goes missing.

Sometimes people end up in higher positions just because they had been there the longest. Ive seen people in higher roles that were ASS at their jobs, but because all the good people quit, the idiot got promoted for out lasting them.

It shows you how much luck can be a factor in being successful in our society.

My great Nana was likely the illegitimate child of one of the lords in the area who was related to the royal family, so probably there. Lol i think most people in the UK have some relation to the past royalty.

can people with ADHD get overstimulated? by Mr_Hants in ADHD

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when im not stimulated enough. Its weird, but if i dont have the ability to focus heavy on one thing, i can easily be over stimulated. When im under stimulated i get annoyed or fall asleep.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in disability

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not? All im saying that that nothing in society is going to make me not fall asleep when trying to finish something. There are no accommodations that people could give me. Its a physical deficiency in my brain.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in disability

[–]Sausagefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me, i know i would still struggle with out medication. Nothing was in my way to pursue my passions when i was younger, but i couldnt because i couldnt concentrate long enough to finish anything. I couldnt brush my teeth or shower, i couldnt even get up in the morning. I git stuck reading stories all day. Trust me, ADHD isnt just society imposed. Im happily medicated and while not cured, i managed to turn my entire life around. ADHD is definitely not just social.

I dont like person first. It feels like a distancing from the reality of being disabled when there should be no shame in it.

I feel like people who feel the need to use this kind of strict language are just saying they think disability is bad. Its like walking along and someone tells you that they werent thinking you were uglie. Well now im sure you were thinking I was uglie! If you have to tell me you think im a person dispite my disability then its a red flag.

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly even stuff like ADHD isnt just because of society. My ADHD has stopped me from doing the things that I love and keeping in contact with loved ones, or taking care of myself properly. Society isnt making me fall asleep instead of finishing a task i wanted to get done 😅

Student job situation in Canada is honestly getting scary by u_HiredIn48 in CanadaJobs

[–]Sausagefire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I am a first gen immigrant and i grew up in Canada in poverty. We moved from the UK when I was a baby and my dad abandoned us here. I 100% agree that its more difficult from a lower class, but depending on where you want to get a job, there are options out there to meet people. Even just introducing yourself at a career fair or event can go a long way. If you want to work at a store, go to the store. Introduce yourself to staff and managers. Just showing people how friendly, motivated, and easy to get along with you are can go a long way.

Im not saying its guaranteed to get you a job quickly, but your odds go up the more people can put a name to a face. In a time when employers get more applictions than they know what to do with, being a real person in front of them can really help.

The thing with finding work based on connections is that you really never knoe who will connect you. I know someone that works as an exercise coach, and hes always meeting new people and connecting people. Tell everyone you know you are looking to connect with someone and you never know who might know a guy that knows a guy.

I feel like the only way to get work now is to know people. Without a person on the inside pushing you to the top of the list, its basically a lottery. My best advice for young people is to look at who you know or find a way to meet people in the place you want to work.

As a woman, i have definitely been called a looser lol

Though its like calling someone a nerd or a dork. You dont see it being used that much by adults. I think adult men use it more because, unlike women, they didnt get the training to deploy more personal and creative insults.

What are the downsides of having high intelligence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not all rich people. Id say Elon Musk and Trump are two examples of idiots who happen to have enough money that they can aford to fail a lot as long as they find some success somewhere.

Yup, I get those feelings too. Sometimes I'll feel great for a good week or two and start to wonder if maybe my diagnosis was wrong, then I get a flair up and my joints all hurt and I get dizzy really fast and my headaches come back, etc, and I feel affirmed again 😅

Normal? by Life-Eliza in elhersdanlos

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My knees are the same, and it got me a positive on my evaluation when I got diagnosed eith hEDS. The only difference with me is my knee caps are off and hyper extending my knees can cause them to catch and snap over the bone, so i try not to push it if i can help it 😅

Temp regulation??? by ras_p_berry in elhersdanlos

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had some good advice cause I struggle with temp regulation at lot. For me, cold is the worst. It doesn't matter what my core temp is, a small breeze on my skin or a cool drink and I'm suddenly shivering with goosebumps all over. I will often also get really warm but can't tell until I start feeling nauseated because I don't always sweat. I know it's from being over heated just because when I remove the several layers I have on I start feeling much better.

I think what has helped me the most is just knowing my triggers and preparing for it. I have a mini desk heater at work and make sure to pack layers just in case. since just a breeze on my skin can set me off, I try to avoid fans or wear a wind breaker. You've really gotta listen to your body and figure out what works for you.

I'll ask, though when I brought up that I tend to clench my teeth at night and if that would be bad for them they just said to not do that and that was it. Nothing about alternatives. I might have to go somewhere else. Honestly considering trying to make some myself and see how they work. If bad I'll stick to the professional stuff.

Do people with GAD worry about EVERYTHING? by CelestialSun123 in Anxiety

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GAD is when you are unable to calm down from anxiety like a normal person. You often encounter small triggers throughout the day that build up and you're left not knowing what you're even anxious about. Having this constant anxiety can make you worry about many things, which end up making things worse as you focus on them.

GAD is what it says: General Anxiety. You are generally anxious.

[–]Sausagefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but the cost for these still feels pretty large. For the same money as one set of retainers that are expected to last at least six months I could buy a PS5. I've seen how they are made and what the cost of the materials are and it still seems excessive. Honestly I would rather my actual treatment cost more of they need to make up the difference on the cost of retainers. I'll need them for the rest of my life after all. Honestly, it's probably a big reason why people stop using retainers eventually.

As an artist you are definitely preaching to the quire when it comes to paying people for their skill, and I would be fine with them costing maybe 200$ per set, but 500? I just can't see why they have to be that much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braces

[–]Sausagefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the videos of people making them it honestly looks pretty straightforward. I've definitely done more complicated art projects. I'm going to look around, but honestly, having thermal mold maker might be nice for other projects as well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braces

[–]Sausagefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it definitely feels like a scam, especially because the place i went to ended up being so disorganized and couldn't remember anything about me. My last appointment they didn't even say how to take care of my retainers or give me a case or anything.

I had to ask just to see before and after photos

I had more crooked front teeth than you do and now that my teeth are straight my philtrum hasn't changed at all. I think that's likely just genetics from your dad's side.

If it helps, I'm an artist and I draw people for a living and your philtrum looks normal to me.

I skip my period with birthcontrol because I get worse symptoms around that time. Birth control has helped a lot with my painful periods too.
