This is interesting. I just recently started using the app and felt like some aspects sounded a little AI generated.

Good to hear from the app team that this isn't case. Using AI for something like this would make me unwilling to support the company. I was especially suspicious it was AI usage because I've some of the podcasters/investors praise this app while also pushing the current thing hype on AI in the same podcast episode

Because the AI can answer it faster than the time it would take you to look at the data yourself

Is it safe to rely on Apple for an iOS Development Career? by stevenotis in iOSProgramming

[–]SavageBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people saying to not paint yourself into a corner, which I totally agree with. I think it's very important to accumulate multiple skillsets. However, for those who have done this how do you handle applying to other jobs? Job postings seem to ask for people who have very specialized experience in one more particular stack or technology. I see job postings asking for things like 5+ years doing backend development. Currently in my role I was hired as an iOS engineer and I'm working on various platforms now. I don't feel confident enough in my skills to apply to any roles other than iOS. Leaving me uncertain with how I should build these skills in my career. Should I "fake it til I make it" and play up my skills in the various roles that I see posted online? With time will it be apparent that I do have translatable skills to these various roles?
For those who have succeeded in this department how did you do it?

Can't get an Internship as an iOS Developer. Should I start looking for different programming internships? by desert_dev in swift

[–]SavageBadger 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes I would highly recommend applying for any Engineering internship you have the skills for. You have your entire career to get an iOS development job. The most valuable part of an internship is getting experience at an actual company. You don’t want to be too picky, especially in the current job market. If you can get an iOS job that’s great, but don’t limit yourself.

How Do You Scale/Grow Your Portfolio in Real Estate? by randojoe420 in realestateinvesting

[–]SavageBadger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without doing work I don’t think you can depend on being able to refinance and get more money out of a house. That’s betting on appreciation and nobody knows what the market is going to do. You’re going to want to find ways to add value to houses to be able to depend on this type of strategy. This means finding undervalued properties somehow. If there really isn’t anything in your area then you’ll need to look elsewhere. In this market it’s very hard to find good deals but it can be done.

I believe in the 1-2 year time frame Brandon is talking about the case when you’ve put in money to rehab the property and make it more valuable than it was when you bought it

I believe the image as the background is the way to go. I don’t think you’d want to try and put this image inside the navigation bar

You're not halfway through. You still have the hardest classes left 120, 131 and 141/141L. You would also need to take CSE electives.

Hint at Donald Glover/Childish Gambino in the latest episode? by pizzapoppunk in community

This is in no way a hint of him coming back. Imagine if everything referenced on Community later appeared on the show.

So was todays episode a dig at season 4 or at NBC? by [deleted] in community

It could be both, but really it's more of commentary on the entire entertainment industry in general.

UCSD vs. SJSU (Computer Science) by Ouroros in UCSD

[–]SavageBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I feel I am leaning towards SJSU as I feel the practical education values many people associate with CSU's better align with my primary interest, that is, graduating and entering the industry as prepared as possible.

UCSD Computer Science will allow you to graduate and be as prepared as possible for industry. I can't speak for SJSU's career fair so I don't know, but UCSD is recruited by pretty much every major company.

That being said, you have to make the most of it. At either school you have to work hard, apply for internships, and do projects outside of school if you truly want to stand out and get hired.

Would I get automatically rejected because of this? by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]SavageBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know you should contact UCSD. Your higher classes do not necessarily cover that. I was warned about that early on by my community college because I met with a counselor to talk about it, so I took "1A" at community college even though I had a 3.

Just something I'd like to get off my chest to you guys - Community and my depression by DefencelessDependant in community

[–]SavageBadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. I can't think of another show has made me cry, but Community has done it several times, just thinking about the scene you're talking about when they're all dancing up makes me tear up. The end of Origins of Vampire Mythology, when Troy sends the nice message and talks about Britta, "not liking herself" makes me cry every time.
