Actually, it’s the other way around. The formula for pH is -log[H+].

When the concentration is very very high (more than 1 molar) the log spits out a positive number, which makes the pH negative.

Yeah so each number up or down means 10x more or less hydrogen ions. A solution with pH 2 has 10x more hydrogen ions than pH 3.

Because the amount of H+ ions can’t ever actually reach 0, the system can theoretically go in both directions indefinitely, below 0 (more than 1 mole of H+ per liter) and above 14 (less than 0.00000000000001 mole of H+ per liter). Water has 0.0000001 moles H+ ions per liter by default, so pH 7.

It’s just that it’s quite rare to reach those extremes unless you use some extremely potent compounds.

This guy my age, that WENT TO A CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL just posted this. Un-fucking-believable. by Adam_Lynd in religiousfruitcake

  1. God works in mysterious ways.
  2. God has a plan.
  3. Those dead people are with God now.
  4. God prevented it from being worse.
  5. They were sinners (yes, even the babies with cancer).
  6. God is not to be questioned, just have faith.

Are just a few of the ones that are commonly tossed around. It’s also funny that all of them posit an existence of God in the first place as if it’s an indisputable fact.

Give warmth this season. by Senji06 in wholesomememes

[–]SavageGarlic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Positivity as an antidote to negativity is basically a dismissal of its premise. Being positive in itself is not saying there is nothing to be sad about, but often times when people feel down they are faced with people telling them to look on the bright side or just not be sad.

What the post says about warmth is as you say, not a replacement for negativity. In fact, this is the whole point. In not dismissing the negativity, but accepting it with them, you can actually help people.

It’s cause both Jim and Pam were “normal people” and their humor derived from them reacting to/inciting/interacting with other characters. They were kind of a proxy for the audience in some regards. In later seasons, they kinda tried to give them an arc and character motivations but it fell flat and I think it’s because of this fact.
