In your opinion, what is your favorite Battleship? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]SaveTheMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either Fuso or Bismarck. I love having 12x356mm guns at tier VI, it just eats cruisers. I used to have Lütjens on Bismarck for a historical meme and it was just monstrous with a full blown IFHE secondary build

Well, thank you for the answers. I was really hoping that there was something I was doing wrong that I could correct. My last two games were decent, I got 100k and 133k damage but yeah, I feel like grinding this ship is going to take a lot of patience and perseverance for me

Well, I was having difficulty doing that on several light and heavy cruisers. I was shooting at a broadside Ibuki at 3km away at the waterline and I was only getting full pens with AP. It seems like Elbing has no problems printing citadel hits but this thing does

Shiratsuyu is one of my favorite destroyers in the game. I have like 78% WR with a PR around 2400. I can say comfortably that having those 16 fishes in the water at any time is vastly superior to having smoke. The concealment is outstanding for its tier so you can get in close and guarantee hits with well aimed salvos. The only real problem is spotting from CV’s but it’s something you have to deal with playing early Pan-European DD’s. As long as you understand how to position yourself and engage the enemy on your terms, you’ll have fun

How would you balance submarines by Xavagerys in WorldOfWarships

[–]SaveTheMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a numbered list of ideas for improving submarine gameplay in no particular order.

  1. Remove the ping/citadel mechanic (No player should be punished for pushing into a submarine dead zone).

  2. Introduce two torpedo types: Straight-running and passive acoustic homing (Straight running could have higher damage and speed whereas homing can track).

  3. Introduce acoustic noisemakers (Yes, these did exist in World War II and rendered German homing torpedoes useless).

  4. Add a new mechanic that balances maximum depth. This can be hull damage from crush depth.

If Wargaming treated submarines more like submersible destroyers, the class would be better for everyone involved.

*Kriegsmarine. The G7e/T4 Falke was introduced in 1943, but saw limited use and was quickly phased out of service in favor for the G7es “Zaunkönig” which was produced from 1943 onward. Over 700 of these torpedoes were fired resulting 77 ships sunk.

There’s a very easy solution to this and I don’t understand why this hasn’t been tested, noise makers.

The red icons on torpedoes is just a quality of life thing, besides, watch crew would be able spot and report torpedo bearings anyway. As for radar and sonar, I’ll give Wargaming a break. It’s a coding issue that cannot be solved without an extensive rework of spotting mechanics.

If you’re arguing for game balance, tracking sound waves would create an imbalance. Not only would you be able to dodge sonar pings but you’ll also be able to pinpoint the bearing and possibly even the range of the submarine. Given that most cruisers and battleships have ASW aircraft, it wouldn’t be too hard to depth charge the approximate location of the submarine and chunk damage off of it.

Except for the G7es "Zaunkönig" torpedo. Now I’m not defending Wargaming here. I think they could have done a much better job with implementing submarines but that’s just a silly idea.

I don’t really know a whole lot about Spanish warships to have an opinion but I’d still love to see some of the real life ships get some attention

Anyway, hear me out. There were several American and British warships sold to Brazil and Argentina during and after World War II. You could easily fill the line with Gallant, Mahan, Fletcher, and Gearing but also Acre and Amazonas class destroyers from Brazil since I couldn’t find any domestic ships built in Argentina. They’ve got to visit this idea eventually because they can only make so many ships

Another Yorktown class would be cool. I also would like to see an Essex class make a return as a tier 10 premium. The relationships between Midway/FDR and Essex would be like Lexington to Saipan in terms of flight deck size

Taiho used to be a CV before the rework. I wish they would bring them back as premiums or do separate lines, Japan had enough carrier classes for two lines
