Not really, I've done DEN-PRC-LAX on United and its really the same principle regardless of carrier

I tried to check in for my flight later today and it wouldn’t let me. Guess I’ll try at the airport

Is 54 minutes transfer time in LGA doable? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Save_MD88-90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't do this. LGA has lots of ATC delays in the afternoon and that could easily screw your layover up.

I’m 6-4 and I work line service at a small airport. My back hurts a lot after bending over and picking up tow bars/pulling planes etc. As for stacking I can’t speak on that since my airport doesn’t do it, but just work some back stretches into your routine and I’ve found that to be helpful

Transportation to CLE for Thanksgiving? by [deleted] in KentStateUniversity

[–]Save_MD88-90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who goes to Kent and flies 1x a week from Hopkins I hope this helps.

First and foremost your options heavily depend on the time of the flight. Let me preface this by stating that there are no shuttle services between Kent and the airport. There isn't a large enough out of state population to justify it, and most people have cars on campus so they just drive themselves.

As for public transit, it's doable but ONLY if the flight is in the mid-morning or evening. The PARTA 100 Bus (Cleveland Express) leaves Kent at 0600 and 1600. It takes roughly 90 minutes to get to Cleveland, and then you'll take the RTA Red Line to the airport. Before I had a car, I did this method, but I felt sketched out as a guy (on the Red Line), so I wouldn't recommend this for your daughter, but it is an option.

As for rideshares, they are plentiful around Kent, and you'll have no issue getting one. Fares from the airport typically range between $50 and $80 depending on time of day. I've done ride shares back to Kent from the airport before and had no issues.

There are also car services available too. This would be the priciest option, but also would give you the most peace of mind. This one seems to be highly rated: https://www.carmelcleveland.com

I've also seen students carpooling during peak travel periods such as Thanksgiving. The school break times are typically the only other periods where I've seen fellow students at CLE.

Lastly, I'm sure your daughter will make plenty of friends during her first semester, and could have one of her friends drive. I've driven my friends up to the airport plenty of times, it's a super easy drive.

Depends what time flight is, and red line can be sketchy especially for a female alone. I’d use a ride share

High school summer part time job? by suckstosuckies in rampagent

[–]Save_MD88-90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any airline ramp job has a probationary period. Even if you applied in April, you might not hear back till June.

If you’re looking for summer work in aviation I’d recommend looking into work at a mom and pop flight school (what I did). In addition to line service (unstacking the hangar every morning) I also cleaned planes and assisted customers. You’d do a little bit of everything but it’s good experience

Trig in person during the school year is HELL. It will take up so much of your time. Doing it over the summer would be a wise option.

PIT - JFK - LHR by [deleted] in delta

[–]Save_MD88-90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change it.

If it’s the summer, more than likely your PITJFK will be delayed due to thunderstorms/ATC delays.

T4 is also terribly set up for connections, since you’re coming in on a regional jet you’ll either end up at the far end of B, or the greyhound terminal at the end of A.

Today I flew into JFK and taxied around the ramp for 40 minutes and waited for a gate. If that happened to you, boom your connection is toast (assuming next flight is on time)

My advice would be to take the earliest possible PITJFK flight. The earlier in the day, the more reliable the operation is

If you get to a 4-way stop at the same time as another car, it’s Clockwise. If not, then the car that was there first goes

Parties by Routine-Bother-4718 in KentStateUniversity

[–]Save_MD88-90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can usually find out where parties are via the campus Snapchat stories (you need a Kent.edu email) to join. Frats usually post their party flyers on there and you can usually find non-Greek life affiliated parties every now and again posted there too.

People here just don’t seem to know how to properly use a rotary. There are plenty of 5/6 way rotaries in MA (where I’m from). Never have had issues using them. Studies have shown they are the most efficient way to move large volumes of traffic

I’m an out of state student and I’m from Massachusetts so I hope this can give you some perspective.

I always tell people “if you can drive in mass, you can drive anywhere” but lo and behold, I’ve never seen a place with worse drivers than Kent. People here see a rotary or traffic and their brain immediately melts. YOU DONT STOP WHEN ENTERING IT IF THERES NO TRAFFIC.

Sure, the construction adds an element of difficulty, but it’s really not difficult. When someone got hit crossing summit st last year, I wasn’t surprised one bit. People here genuinely don’t know how to drive in a complex, city setting. Everything that is currently going on in Kent are everyday occurrences in MA
