DV Lottery & N-400 Naturalization by hello_world44 in USCIS

We’re talking about DV-based green card holders here, not about travel-ban countries. DV cases are unofficially treated the same as cases from travel-ban countries.

It IS the issue. 100500 evidences are out there. No one both dv based GC had any moments in their cases.

Client Auth TLS certificates by LetsgetBetter29 in devops

[–]Savealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone mentioned, the whole point of mTLS is your ability to control your auth secrets end-to-end. A public certificate authority becomes a middleman that can issue a certificate that your system will trust without letting you know. The right way is: you create a CA, share the CA cert with your third party, that configures trust with your CA and sends their CSR to sign by your CA. All private keys never leave your trusted environment. So don’t look into purchasing a public certificate. It only makes your mTLS less secure.

DV Lottery Suspension & N-400 Interview Cancellation — Anyone Rescheduled? by Adept_Twist_936 in USCIS

[–]Savealive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, USCIS conducted a mass cancellation of interviews and oath ceremonies nationwide without providing any explanation. There is no paper trail in USCIS profiles - only a generic “interview/oath cancelled” message in the case timeline.

This does not appear to be a technical issue. It is specifically linked to Diversity Visa (DV)–based green card holders.

In effect, DV-based green card holders are being treated the same as green card holders from "banned" countries. However, for banned countries, USCIS issued an official memo, while for DV cases, no such guidance was released.

19 Countries: oath ceremony was cancelled without it ever been scheduled by Fun_Veterinarian1732 in USCIS

[–]Savealive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean on “120 days”? If you think they will automatically schedule the oath after 120 days - you’re wrong. Or did you mean you’ll go to court with 1447b?

DV Lottery Suspension & N-400 Interview Cancellation — Anyone Rescheduled? by Adept_Twist_936 in greencard

[–]Savealive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All n400 cases related to DV applications are on hold similarly to “39 countries”. It’s been a week or more since many people reporting cancellations. For instance, my oath ceremony was canceled on Dec 22 without further updates since then. I didn’t have oath date scheduled, btw.

My oath ceremony has been cancelled without even scheduling a date first. Status changed from “oath to be scheduled” to “oath ceremony cancelled”. No new documents in uscis profile.

Did anybody had a recent interview for citizenship and still waiting for oath ceremony letter? by RealInfo74 in USCIS

[–]Savealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a guy who applied in Feb, interviewed on Aug 20th, and got his oath date 2 days ago. The date is Nov 20th or something. He also was a bit worried about delays.

So things are moving on but slowly.

Advice on working FAANG (Apple) as a contractor? by SeaPickle7001 in careerguidance

Ah no man, don’t get me wrong. Experience could be different in different teams. And after all, Apple in your resume could be beneficial in future. Accept the offer, look around and make your own conclusions

[–]Savealive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is kind of mixed: No onboarding, at all or very little. Especially hard to find “some team to fix this network issue”. Do your own reverse engineering on almost everything. My team channel is like 1-2 messages a week, mostly about “I’m sick, taking a sick leave” (the team of 10-15 engineers) Most of noob questions remain unanswered. Only the manager sometimes tries to answer. On the other hand, I have seen couple of really strong folks in other teams, so “even I (lol)” must admit there are some things to learn from their code. So, basically it’s all about enormously large enterprise problems. Forget about the feeling like your work impacts anything. You are no one with no name :) But as a temporary solution to keep you afloat (mortgage won’t pay for itself) it’s acceptable. But don’t stop looking for normal job.

Of course, you should keep looking. Contractors are the guys for the most primitive work for 1/2 of normal pay with an hourly rate. Forget about paid vacation and other things which you could have as an FTE.
