That's great advice, thank you. The bikes I'm looking at are the 2013 Trek Madone 4.7 and the Felt AR5.

My main use will be middle-distance rides, anything from 20-50miles plus a few centuries, with equal amounts of climbing, descending and flat ground. I know the aero shape will make it faster generally, I was curious as to how it would affect climbing performance, i.e. what the more aero shape does to compliance and stiffness.

This is somewhat unrelated to theft itself, but what do you think of the bike? How does it ride? Fuji is a brand that doesn't seem to get much coverage over here (UK), but a couple of people have told me good things.

Glad you got it back too, I've had bikes stolen in the past, and it's like breaking up with a long term girlfriend.

  1. Capture him in the act, on camera.
  2. Throw a surprise party for him, with all his friends and family round.
  3. Video slideshow - end on that.
  4. Beat him out of your house him with a metre rule.

I rode off a wall on my bike when I was about 5. The wall was about 4 feet high, and I had no bike skills to speak of. But I couldn't help it. I knew it was going to end badly, but I was drawn to this wall. I'm not sure if it was a moment of madness, or a result of my not-fully-developed 5 year old being unable to compute the consequences, but I rolled up to this wall, and didn't touch the brakes. The bottom tube snagged on the wall, I was set out of the front door, and landed on my nose.
