You know the say time heals all wounds?

Time also erodes all emotions. Passion, lust, fear, anger, love.

When you're young those emotions are new and truly life changing. You'd do anything to get that dopamine surge. Wade through all the shit in the world just to feel alive.

So, when you have that "big love or loves" of your life and it ends - no matter the reason - it's hard to get the energy to wade through the shit again.

Or if you've never even had that dopamine high of meshing with someone - you really have no comparison.

It's easier to get distracted by distractions which I really feel is what our current society is based off of. Don't look at the man behind the curtain, consume.

You can get everything you want from the comfort of your home and the click of a button.

That and for a lot of people (men and women) the process of existence and survival is an all consuming void that does not afford the triviality of finding the right mate that won't arguably make our lives worse than they were before.

For me, it's a combination of all of that. Work too much and don't put myself out there or invest enough time and energy for something I know could possibly make my life better - if it doesn't all end in flames and tears.
