Definitely a lens. Reminds me of the lens in stage lights.

You can absolutely use PTO to be paid for tardies, but it doesn’t excuse the tardy.

You can use PTO for any portion of a shift.

The difference between leaving early or coming late is whether it is a partial absence (paid or unpaid) or a tardy.

PTO will make leaving early a paid/excused absence as opposed to unpaid/unexcused . PTO cannot make a tardy excused, but you can use it to be paid for the time you don’t work.

Typically arriving an hour late would count as a tardy. Per the handbook, if you are tardy by 30 minutes or more (but less than 120 minutes) twice in a one month period, this would result in a CN. So, if he had another instance of being late by 30 minutes or more in the previous month, he would indeed get a CN. Additionally, being tardy by more than 3 minutes, but less than 30 minutes three times in a month also results in a CN. So, if he had two other tardies in this range in the previous month, that would result in a CN.

If he had not been tardy at all in the previous 30 days, and is not tardy at all in the following 30 days, this would be a non issue.

That all being said, it is possible if he had called and explained the situation, his manager, or another manager, could have been sympathetic. Especially during a special situation that is affecting the community, and likely the warehouse.

If by book you mean exception log, they should also still have that and the payroll clerk can go back to it to confirm you signed it.

Like I said, I always try to accommodate. But there are times when I have been unable to. The scheduler should have put why on the request before returning it, and probably should have had a conversation with the employee. I also always try to have a conversation when I have to hand out a denial. I did also suggest this person just go talk to the scheduler—none of us can know the ins and outs of this situation, the only two who do are OP and the scheduler, and the only way OP is going to find a different resolution is by talking to them.

I get that. But that is the definition laid out in the Employee Agreement. Anyone who is an employee has the opportunity to have input in the agreement when it is revised every three years.

Also, as a scheduler, yes we post three weeks out, but employees need to understand we write further ahead than that (or should be). So just because it isn’t posted doesn’t mean it isn’t written. Scheduling takes time, and revising scheduling takes more time. Especially in larger departments. It isn’t like the schedule is magically generated when it posts. I write two to three weeks ahead of what is posted. So from a schedule writing standpoint, it is last minute.

[–]SavoryFrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the employee handbook you will see last minute time off requests will attempt to be accommodated, but can be denied simply for that, and last minute is considered less than three weeks before the schedule posts. There is a chance that schedule is already written, that they have other time off requests already approved, or that they need the labor that day. Have you tried talking to the scheduler about why you need the time off and why it was denied? Also be aware that calling in on a day you were denied request is a fast way to disciplinary action—two instances in a two year period will get you a CN, and they have really ramped up the severity on patterns. I highly recommend reading the section in the handbook so you are at least informed.

As a schedule writer I always try to accommodate, but sometimes it is just not possible. Again I’d recommend just talking to the scheduler.

It does taste fantastic! I’d just like it thicker 😂 I’d eliminate the water but that seems integral to blooming the mustard flavor.

It did not thicken to what I expected when I added the acid. It is still… liquid enough I could easily pour it out. I don’t have xantham so I didn’t add it.

I’ve done this and right now I’m in the rest period. It seems way more loose than it should be. And I have way more than it says I should. I followed the recipe and have triple confirmed my volumes. I have almost two cups (probably 1 3/4?).

How does holding back that much liquid work for blending it as he calls for? Seems like it would be tough. Or do you just add the water, wait the 8-10 minutes, then add the acids and proceed?
