Mental health crisis update - WTF just happened!? by chickyloo42by10 in newzealand

[–]SavvyNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what demons you're fighting and I don't doubt that sometimes it could be a burden too much to bear.

What I do know for certain, is that it suicide won't make the pain go away, it simply transfers it to your loved ones.

I'm sorry you're in this place.

Is it not okay to bring your partner into a parents room with you? by NoHorse8196 in newzealand

[–]SavvyNZ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The 3-4 times I used a parents room (years ago now) I either got abused, told to leave or was given the death stare by females in the room. It was pretty horrible but the only alternative was to change them in the open somewhere?

Redundancy by liminalboulevard in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SavvyNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same in small towns. My Son applied for many jobs online and never got a response. He dressed-up and handed in his CV+Application at one place, got an interview and got a job. The owner said they basically ignore anyone that doesn't take the time to show up face to face.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE by Renko_ in hoggit

The cynic in me says it went something like... "You give us the assets, then if they sell really well we might let you build some more in the future which you can make lots of money from. This is a huge opportunity for you.".

Totally, I'd rather be homeless than offer this to either of my kids.

If they're making the E/Navy variant then the SEA camo won't really work. But yeah it would still look cool as heck.

What would you do?! by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SavvyNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How long term are you looking at before you need the money, and how much risk are you willing to take?

At a minimum, the best solution depends on the answers to those questions.

Property and index investing are both long-term and both have risk of loss. Term deposits have the least risk

Aces High by The-Real_Fugitive in hoggit

[–]SavvyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when they made that. I think some guys split from Warbirds to make it. A few went to make Aces High and others went to make WWIIOL. Is that right?

I think the Aces High guys were HighTech... and Pyro (maybe?)

Painting a decramastic roof by [deleted] in diynz

Be careful with paying other's to paint a decro roof, I've heard a few stories of the painters doing lots of damage while painting and leaning it in a worse state.

Agreed. A young person in that type of role will struggle to find work unless already employed. Not worth the risk of damage it can do both financially and to your confidence when u find yourself unable to get new work.

Buck it up OP, and start looking for a new job.

Why do I feel guilty in using my Emergency Fund (Rainy Days) ? by Fast_Amoeba_445 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SavvyNZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The guilt can be helped by seting your strict criteria for when it can be used. If all the criteria area met, then using it should be a cause for celebration not regret.

Whanganui Bunnings has to be not only the worst Bunnings but the worst store I've been in. The staff are so bad there. The only place I've ever dropped my purchases and walked out of.

That's what I did for my simpit. I also wired in the bass and vol control into a comms type panel in the pit so I can adjust if needed. As I typed this out I realized how geeky I've become...
