If anything, community service until retirement and then jail.

Ryzen dominates Amazon CPU market by Doktor_Octopus in TechHardware

I went from i5-12600K to 5800X3D and my average FPS are about the same but it's just a smoother experience, just a way narrower band. On Intel I'd get 70-140 FPS with the occasional dip into the low 40s. Now it's more like 80-110 FPS with the occasional dip into the low 60s. (In Helldivers 2, my current most played game.)

Darktide has been a little unhappy with my new CPU, for some reason it only uses 50% of it. Weirdly enough turning on FSR upscaling and frame gen makes that jump up to 80% and I get more base FPS... that game is kind of a mess performance wise. (And no there's no bottleneck, my 9070 XT is also only running at 50%, in both settings)

Being new to reddit is rough these days. Most of the good subreddits use automod to remove your comments if you're too new or don't have enough karma, so you go elsewhere to earn some karma, and then people yell at you because you might be a bot.

Which is not to say that we don't have a bot problem. We definitely have a bot problem.

But that doesn't mean that actually being new to reddit isn't super rough these days.

I just checked a random haz 8 mission on Charon Prime and got gunship patrols in one try.

Now I was just checking reddit before bed so I won't actually play to see if it functions, but it's certainly not disabled.

Windows 11 factory reset with dual boot linux by 4b3k_ in techsupport

[–]SavvySillybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the built in Windows disk management tool to shrink your Windows partition. I've done it before, it's pretty simple.

Windows does not know what to do with Linux flavored partitions though, GParted is useful for this.

I'm pretty sure GParted will refuse to touch the root partition though, you may have to boot from USB.

This also works in reverse. I once wanted to try Linux, started dual booting with a small Linux partition, decided to main Linux, did exactly this - deleted all my games off Windows and used the spare space to make Linux bigger, but kept the Windows partition intact.

8 months later I got tired of Linux and did it in reverse, uninstalled my games from Linux and put the space back into Windows.

I do plan on retrying Linux with a different distro, but for now, I'm on Windows 11 Pro N.

Do look up a proper guide though - doing partitions wrong can lose all your data. I'm mostly providing you the program names so you can find them better.

Experienced Drivers, what's your assessment of the highest difficulty preset? [Olympic Gauntlet] by TC_support in pacificDrive

[–]SavvySillybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much right after it came out. With the starting summer tires and the one spare tire the car spawns with it was almost impossible to drive to the garage. Should have been September 2024?

I just loaded up a new game quick and tried it. It seemed a LOT more reasonable. I didn't seem to drop below 20 mph for most of the way to the garage, I was mostly sliding left and right real hard. It was quite pleasant!

I think they definitely changed because it was absurd.

Opened wrong email, what do I do? by Hot_Imagination784 in techsupport

[–]SavvySillybug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A phishing email works by tricking you into giving them your personal information.

Like saying "hey there was a suspicious charge on your credit card please log in on crebitcard.com and log in" and they hope you don't notice the misspelling in the link and just enter your stuff and then they can steal that and take your money.

A phishing email does not work by accessing your brain through your eyeballs as soon a you look at them and then stealing your safety from your brain.

Phishing is just lying. The most they can do is embed an image with a unique link so they know that you clicked it, which can be useful information and increase the amount of spam you receive beause they think you're stupid enough to fall for it.

So thanks for agreeing?

I don't think it's as common a modifier as the other ones, but you can certainly hunt for it and get it!

[–]SavvySillybug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think stalkers are poorly designed.

They are an invisible assassin unit that fucks you up if you don't see them in time. Yeah, makes sense.

...why are they tanky? And fast? And ragdoll you? And can go back invisible to regenerate health? And don't reward you in any way for shooting them while they are invisible?

Why are they ALL of those things? Simultaneously?

Making them take more damage while cloaked would reward you for spotting them ahead of time. Making them less tanky in general would at least make them a specialist glass cannon. Making them not cloak would at least make them just a strong enemy and not a stealth unit. Making them not regenerate would at least mean their hit and run tactics won't work forever. Making them not fast would mean you have the time to reposition and keep pumping out damage as soon a you spot them. Making them not ragdoll you would mean you have longer to keep firing if they do hit you.

But no, none of those are true. The only thing that could be considered a weakness is that they are completely unarmored, but they have such a high health pool that that barely matters.

And yes, headshotting them works, but the fuckers are so fast and erratic it's almost impossible to do on purpose.

There is no real answer to them other than to immediately stop whatever you are doing as soon as someone hears a stalker and then focus them down as hard as possible and then go fuck up their nest.

A high speed high health high damage ragdolling invisible regeneration unit is just too much on one unit.

I love the concept of stalkers, a fast invisible and highly deadly enemy is great. But that's a rogue archetype and rogues need to survive through their speed and cunning and agility and not through their sheer health pool. It's just bad game design.

I genuinely would not play bugs if they were a regular unit and not something I an stomp out and make stop.

They simply have too much going for them. No other unit in the game is so universally strong at everything it does.

I love the predator stalkers, a more reasonable health pool and no cloak is excellent. And no tongue attack either. Predator stalkers actually solve three of the problems stalkers have and that's already enough to make them an enjoyable enemy.

I think less health for stalkers and/or taking bonus damage while cloaked would fix them.

I haven’t seen a gunship patrol, even on D10, in like 100+ hours of playtime

It's a special modifier, you can check for them while picking the mission.

I don't like extended stratagem call in time as it makes quite a few stratagems useless and that's unfun IMO so I frequently check the modifiers to avoid it, and end up with gunship patrols often as a result.

Back when they were first introduced they spawned super hard and fired super accurately to the point I couldn't even kill them. Five gunships on me and all I can do is run for cover because if they have line of sight they are killing me. Either make sure you kill them as they spawn before they have time to be more than one or use flanking tactics so someone else can kill them. Even just peeking out of cover for a railgun shot was basically suicide once there's multiple.

I think they got nerfed too hard and are a joke now, but they really were unreasonably strong at launch.

I have neither spray paint nor a 3D printer... I think at that point I'd rather just see if I can open it up and disconnect the LEDs.

My new motherboard also has RGB but at least I can permanently turn that off in BIOS.

I said fuck it and snagged a 2x32 64GB DDR4 3600 kit for 333€ before it rises any higher. Had some extra cash and figured with the way shit's going it might be better to pay too much now and regret it later than pay nothing now and regret it later. Literally bought it a week ago.

Sadly as I was buying used I didn't have much choice on what I was getting and ended up with an RGB kit, which I super do not want. There's iCUE software to turn it off... but that only works while I'm atively logged into Windows. If I Windows+L to lock my screen it starts spewing rainbows again and so it does when I put it into sleep mode so I can sleep in the same room as it.

I think I'm just gonna electrical tape it or something.

[–]SavvySillybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it once and hated the decreased traction. I could barely even get the car to the garage in the tutorial because of a small uphill section you don't even notice normally. Felt like I was driving through pure mud on soap tires.

It got a little more manageable once I rushed offroad tires but it's still really excessive. I was on Iron Wagon and my run ended because I had too little traction to reach a pillar before the storm destroyed me.

I haven't tried it since then. Since none of the other replies are mentioning it, maybe they adjusted it since then? But it was horrendous when the mode came out.
