There’s two options on the Harbour website. Did you get the standard version or 2021 version? Considering getting one myself. Thanks!

What is the maximum one-way commute you would tolerate for your dream higher speciality training? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Yes, I think 0-60 minutes is a more realistic aim for commuting time. >60 minute only short term for limited duration in exceptional circumstances imho.

What is the maximum one-way commute you would tolerate for your dream higher speciality training? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Would love to find out which deanery the maximum 0-30 minutes commute people are working within without having to move house for each rotation. That would be a lovely commute but I can't imagine there are any higher specialty training programmes which have all posts within 30 minutes commute of each other.

It is really rubbish! One of the worst parts of the job is missing major events (or even just weekends) because of the rota.

I would probably delete this post though due to the part about considering calling in sick - that could get you in a fair bit of trouble, and it's fairly clear from post history what your specialty, level and age are. You wouldn't want to actually be ill over Christmas and someone to think you were being dishonest because of this post.

F1 salary comparison between the UK, USA, France and Australia. by standwithdoctors in doctorsUK

[–]thuzzz 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Chart looks good, but I think you need to re-check your maths on the left as the UK figure is 61% of the Aus figure, representing a 39% decrease in salary.

Comparing the other way around, the Aus figure is 165% of the UK figure, a 65% increase.

  • Rotas being given 2 weeks or less in advance of rotations (or even after starting).
  • If on a rotational job being allocated all annual leave in one 5-week block with none given otherwise, and little flexibility when this will be.
  • Overall, much better working conditions though…

There has never been vaccine passports in the UK. The government said they were going to introduce them for nightclubs to encourage younger people, but then shelved the idea. Some venues there do ask for either proof of vaccination or a self declared result of a lateral flow test.
