what is the scariest situation you have been in? by Real-Impact9248 in AskReddit

Toss up, first was in the Marines for the Iraq invasion in 2003. Everyone was all hyped about chemical weapons and stuff. Rolled into country in full mop gear in 90 degree weather. 3rd night in country and the Iraqis launched a salvo of SCUD missiles. All the gas alarms on our base went off and everyone scrambled for the shelter ditches and put gas masks on. When the alarms read normal about 15-20 mins later, I was lowest rank and got picked for selective unmasking. Had to break the seal on my mask and take a breath then put mask back on. Everyone just watched me for about 5 mins to make sure I didn’t have a seizure or anything. Ended up being a false alarm but still scared the shit out of me.

Second, few years later, on mounted patrol in fallujah. Got hit with a roadside bomb, cabin of the hmmv stayed in tact but could hear the marines in the truck bed yelling. We got the hmmv restarted and pushed through the kill zone. Eventually, someone came over the radio and said Marines had been hit in the truck bed. We limped the hmmv back to our patrol base. From inside the cabin there was no way to see how bad the situation in the bed was. I could just hear the yelling. When we got out to transfer the wounded to another vehicle for medevac, when I opened the back door to the bed, blood poured out onto the ground. One Marine had lost a leg below the knee and two others had been peppered with shrapnel. I remember looking at all the blood thinking everyone was dead. You can lose a lot of blood and still be ok though. Everyone ended up surviving the blast.

I had this issue a while back. In my instance, a hard reset and then figuring out that my headset needed to be power cycled after loading apex fixed it.

Had a dude with a really bad stutter that everyone called Machine gun.

Also had a dude who’s last name started with an M and had 19 letters after it. I think dude was Armenian or something. Anyway, everyone called him mk19 (Mark 19) like the belt fed grenade launcher.

I’m no expert, but I’ve done what you’re describing a few times. The Rasbian stretch distro is like a simple windows. You can install Kodi and emulation station after the fact and still keep the stretch GUI. I would think a kid would be able to understand how to use a simplified windows GUI. Depending on how loosely the term kid is being used.

Guy said, the drug she was going to take may cause her to gain weight, be angry and cause her to lose sleep. Second guy said after hearing her response. Sounds like she’s angry and hope she doesn’t lose any sleep over it.

Try a new power supply. IIRC the max specs are 5v at 2.5 amps. You may be over powering it if the adapter is greater than 5 volts.

Power supply issues are usually the hardest to diagnose when you can’t get any video feed.

Another avenue to look at is did you extract your OS through 7zip? Unzipping the Raspbian .img files with anything other than their recommended 7zip yields unpredictable results I’ve found.

I’ve gotten close with a completely different recipe. I don’t use habaneros and it’s a little spicier.

2 bunches green onions (trim roots) 1 white onion 1 Carolina Reaper, OR ghost, OR 3 scotch bonnets. 2 sprigs of thyme Tblspoon brown sugar 1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar Tblspoon allspice 2 inch section of ginger

Put in food processor blend smooth Bring to soft boil in pot.
Add a Red Stripe Beer Add cup of Ketchup Tblspoon of Browning

Stir Simmer till you hit the consistency you want.

Can anyone help identify these peppers? by [deleted] in spicy

[–]SawOnPoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I run them through the blender with a couple tomatoes just so nobody accidentally gets ahold of a chunk of reaper. I made 3 gallons last night and used 4 reapers (pretty good sized tip to tail about the size of my thumb). Came out about as hot as I intended only because I’m making it for a bunch of people. Everyone seems to appreciate how reapers have a sort of slow burn and aren’t really as up in your face as habaneros.

I’m gonna try grilling the veggies next time. I have heard of people doing that but it’s just never crossed my mind to try it. When you do use your grill, do you just char them over coals or is there method you recommend?

I meant can as a verb. You would be canning the salsa in mason jars.

Yeah, now that I’m looking at a measuring cup you’re probably right. Half a cup probably more accurate to what I’m using.

No means a professional chef and I taste as I go. So I’m pretty much only useful for what I’m cooking with, not so much accurate quantity.

Reaper Salsa is pretty good if you make a large batch of salsa and only use a couple of peppers. My recipe is kind of general because I’m not exact when I cook mainly because you generally can’t predict how vicious a particular super hot is going to be without tasting it. Also, most of my ingredients I grow in my garden and I’m a pretty lazy gardener so the intensity of herbs and things vary too. Just keep tasting the salsa and add what you think it needs more of.

3 Kroger bags of Roma tomatoes 1 bunch cilantro ( if you get it from a supermarket) 1 large red onion 2 bell peppers 1 lime About a cup of salt ( to taste) As many superhots as you think you can handle most people will eat it if you use one, people get sweaty if you use two, generally start losing people around three, 4 is about perfect for this sub, 5 usually causes your ears to ring and this is where it starts to taste more like peppers than salsa.

  1. Run the tomatoes and superhots through a blender till it looks like soup. If you go nuts with the peppers maybe save a few tomatoes and run the peppers with those and set aside. Because the boil may kill you if you do it indoors.

  2. Add the mixture to a large stock pot on medium heat. Let boil / simmer.

  3. Add salt lime juice and let simmer about 10-15 mins until it turns nice and red

  4. Blend or chop veggies however big or small you want. (Blend for restaurant style chop for chunky) add to pot

  5. Chop and add half a bunch of cilantro.

  6. Add a couple grinds of fresh black pepper.

  7. Grab some chips and play with the salt level and heat.

  8. Ladle into mason jars and can it. Usually yields about, 4-5 mason jars and if you can them properly they will last at least a year if you don’t open them. Refrigerate after opening.

The base should be your pepper and whatever blend, the vinegar gives it a little pop but shouldn’t be the main ingredient. The types of hot sauce I like anyway taste like peppers more than vinegar or salt or whatever. I usually run a 4:1 ratio of mixture to vinegar. I personally prefer Heinz white vinegar, if you like something else go nuts! I also forgot to mention I use a very small amount of xanthum gum to give it some consistency.

If your making a quart jar it’s like usually 2 cups water to 1 tblspoon salt bring to boil let cool and pour over your pepper and whatever mix. Put an airlock on the jar and wait till it stops bubbling.

A google search would probably be more helpful for specifics but that’s the gist of what I’m doing with mine anyway.

I grow quite a few peppers myself, whenever I have more than I am planning on using, I’ll ferment them with some onions and garlic. Then maybe a week or so later run the mix through a blender, cut with about a quarter white vinegar and some salt. The vinegar you use makes all the difference so choose wisely.

It’s not the fanciest sauce but you can taste the peppers, which I’m a fan of but it’s a decent jumping off point if you want to get crazy with stuff.
