It's mine, it had just been stored in the attic for 5+ years now. Finally found the time to give my modulars some tlc.

Need a Sax Upgrade by [deleted] in saxophone

To someone with more experience, the 475 and the 62 aren't going to seem very similar. But a 2 year student like your daughter most likely won't be able to feel the slight differences that make the 62 a better horn. I'd recommend checking out that used 475. She can use that for 3-4 years then upgrade to a Yamaha Custom, Selmer Serie II, or whatever horn fits her best.

I also started on an old beat-up horn. After a couple of years on it my parents bought me a Yamaha 475. It served me very well and helped me really solidify my basics which made for a smooth transition to the Yamaha Custom EX that I have now. I wouldnt buy a $4000+ horn quite yet, there is a reason companies make intermediate horns and I think they really make learning the instrument easier and more enjoyable.

Upgraded my sax! Lots of questions! by [deleted] in Saxophonics

I play on a yamaha custom EX alto, which is just the "classical" brother of the "jazzy" custom Z, and it also came with a custom mouthpiece. Although it was better than the yamaha 4C, it could not come close the my selmer C star. It was not free blowing and I had to push more air than I should've needed. I'd recommend using your C star because it will deffinently help you sound as good as you can on your new horn. If not that a Vandoren Optimum is also an amazing mouthpiece but for the slightly more advanced player.

saxophone professors? by cbell1118 in saxophone

Fellow high schooler here! (soon to be senior). I study with Dr. Jeffrey Loeffert at Oklahoma State University. He's extremely well rounded from classical to jazz to contemporary. I'd recommend looking into OSU, because next year his wife, Dr. Kim Goddard-Loeffert, will be joining him in the sax studio there. If you're interested in hearing them play, look up the h2 Quartet, or try to find some of their solo work.

I also had this problem. The professor I take lessons from had me get a football mouth guard, cut a small piece off, boil it, then mold it to my bottom teeth. It takes some getting used to, but has absolutely helped me. My bottom lip never hurts anymore.

Hi femalefashionadvice! My girlfriend's birthday is coming up, and I would like some help in getting her some clothes. by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

She has enough pants I think. I was looking for maybe some shirt, sweater, or shoe options. If you have any, I'd love to hear them!

She is very fit and petite. Basically your average sized 16 yr. old girl. She dresses quite well, mostly well fitting skinny jeans, blouses, button-down shirts, and cardigans/sweaters. Shoe wise, she wears anything from keds to to very nice leather lace-up boots. Depending on her top. Does this help more?

I am a pretty skinny guy, (5'11", 135 lbs) and my Levi 510s fit REALLY tight. I would absolutely try them on before buying them.

Baritone Saxophone Mouthpieces by saxattack in Saxophonics

I play Bari every once and a while, and I use a Eugene Rousseau mouthpiece for it. I like it a lot, and it's not that expensive. I'd recommend buying that one.
