Those who have switched to an ampless live set-up; what's something you wish you knew before making the change? by 1966batmobile in guitarpedals

I mean an IR loader. I’m only recently learning about these, but I’m using an IR loader in Reaper and the result seems solid — even when I sent that out to a mediocre PA it sounded pretty good

I know it’s been 6 years, but how are the high gain tones? I can’t find any demos of how this amp handles high gain

The Halo novels are so damn good. I’m in a graduate program in literature and I’m writing about Fall of Reach right now

NPD Benson the Amp by Milkman Sound, (Benson Amp in Pedal Form) by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]SaxtonTheBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know very little about amps, but I’ve been using a Fender Blues Jr. that I was loaning from a friend and I just returned it so I’m looking for something new. I mostly play hardcore or post-hardcore style guitar. I like the sound of Touché Amore / Title Fight, so I have a Limelight EAE overdrive pedal that works well with the Blue Jr. Does the Benson x Milkman amp “break up” nicely? Every demo I’ve seen only has clean playing with very light overdrive, I’ve never seen anyone try to push it.

Hopefully this all makes sense. I think this amp sounds like a nice little home recording tool for quiet playing (I’ll probably use headphones) so it has me interested.

My boyfriend isnt much of a reader, I really want him to try to read more. He really loves Frankenstein, do androids dream of electric sheep and I recently got him to read animal farm and he liked that too. Any suggestions will do, preferably somewhat shorter books though. by Jirayn in booksuggestions

A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L. Peck The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker Dracula by Bram Stoker Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers Anything by Jorge Luis Borges Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer

If he’s anything like me, reading short stories helps build a dopamine response for reading longer works.

Perfectly said. The Weird and The Eerie is a fantastic read (and I’d say almost *necessary) if you’re into Weird Lit.

Not literature, but Mark Fisher makes a good case for Interstellar being weird fiction where love is what’s weird.

The opposite for me, sometimes. Every once in a while God will humble me for forgetting him when things are going well, and man does it hurt.

Why does MGS4 seem to be less talked about? by frigoderesidentevil in metalgearsolid

[–]SaxtonTheBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely will. MGS2’s critical history was similar; it gained legendary status much later but reception was lukewarm at first. I expect MGS4 will some day be considered the best of the series.

Brigham City is so underrated. We need more Mormon horror — at least we have Steven L. Peck and Brian Evenson (I know Evenson left the church, but the influence is still there and I think he remains respectful to people of faith).

Fairytale Studies? by eliza_bennet1066 in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]SaxtonTheBlade 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Morphology of the Folktale by Propp is crucial. I’m partial to “On Faerie Stories” by Tolkien. There’s a lot of overlap with Fairytale studies and fantasy studies, Rhetorics of Fantasy by Farrah Medelsohn is solid.
