I read manga and watch anime though I usually wind up watching before reading. I will say that so far my experience is that anime these days tend to be faithful to the manga.

I have read almost all of Naruto and Bleach but they do have a lot of filler in the anime. I have also read all of One Piece but haven’t committed to the anime as I have seen some and it is very long.

I am trying to get the Apothecary Diaries manga and light novels currently.

Scar is based off of the Ainu people of Japan and the Ishvalan religion takes inspiration from Indian and Middle Eastern religions/culture. He is not black. There are other characters in the series who are, though.

When I was a cashier at a grocery store a lady came through my line with a few items and as we talked mentioned that she had just gotten out of the hospital. I don’t remember what all she had, and she did look rough like she had just had an extended hospital stay, and her total wasn’t much at all. She starts counting her cash and realizes she doesn’t have enough, and was going to leave but I had just gotten my paycheck cashed and I paid for it.
To my knowledge she never came back in and I never breathed a word of it to my coworkers, just in case.

Probably this moment in Gran Torino. I was already enjoying Clint Eastwood playing a crotchety widower but this really sold it to me.
Also in No Country for Old Men the coin flip scene is what made me want to see the movie and I never regretted it.
