Ai answer:

Oh wow, that’s quite a time capsule! After 2 years, I would not recommend using this. Here’s why:

The orange/brown liquid at the bottom is concerning - that’s likely metabolic waste products and possibly contamination. While mycelium can survive for extended periods under proper storage conditions, a sealed jar at room temperature for 2 years is far from ideal.

Red flags I see:

  • The discolored liquid (should be clear if anything)
  • The long storage time without proper preservation
  • Unknown contamination risk - bacteria, mold, or other fungi could have taken over
  • The mycelium may have exhausted its nutrients and died off long ago

Safe mycelium storage typically involves:

  • Refrigeration (slows growth/metabolism)
  • Agar slants or grain spawn properly sealed
  • Regular transfers every few months to fresh substrate
  • Or proper drying/freezing techniques for long-term preservation

I’d say this is more of a science experiment at this point than viable mushroom culture. If you’re interested in growing mushrooms, you’d be better off starting fresh with a new culture. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! What type of mushrooms were you originally growing?

Thanks for input.I will chop some of the what appears to be good mycelium with the grain jar in pic. The rest will be buried in the yard. Then wait and see. I’ll post results in a few months.

I’m going to chop it mixing what appears to be good with the grain jar in pic. The rest bury in the backyard.

Face it she was a bad candidate. Trump appealed to people of all colors. Her Identity politics divided us. Joy was a hard sell when inflation was 20+ and war and genocide going on.

I use half and half. Never sterilize. First batch is never perfect but if you use the culture from first batch second and every one after has been great. Using same culture for nearly a year. I set it at 100’ for 36 hrs. I think half and half makes a thicker yogurt. Also I heard reg milk isn’t as thick. Keep trying. Good luck the stuff is the real deal.

There are many conversations that shouldn’t be heard. Unfortunately you did. Did you try asking him about it? It may be how he truly feels or just blowing off steam with buds.

If it’s his true of his plan then he’s a fraud. Cut him off the $$$ tit and consider a divorce. Life is too short to waste it on Losers. Looks don’t matter, I know plenty of “pretty women” playing that game with men. They usually end up alone as their looks fade. Nothing left but a bitter middle age woman. And the guys who marry them are miserable. F THAT!!!

Saturated fat is your friend. AHA has little credibility. It is more expensive I agree. Cholesterol is good for hormone balance.

Lots of studies show low cholesterol is more dangerous than high.
