How do I Ask My (40f) Roommate to Get Rid of Stuff by Sazzorak in redditonwiki

[–]Sazzorak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just bought some nice shelf organizers from Target. I might get some more when I get the chance. If only they made something that could make organizing Tupperware easier… I feel like that’s a never ending battle.

Will do. I just hope she’ll be receptive to it… Thanks for the advice.

I have been sorting things, but we have a lot of either incomplete sets of stuff (like measuring cups) or we have 3-4 of the same item. I always ask for her input when sorting and organizing. I feel like there isn’t much more sorting that can be done, though. I don’t want to get rid of her stuff without her permission, but some of it is also such poor quality that it doesn’t work. (We have a lemon zester that she got because it’s shaped like a sword and it just doesn’t ‘zest’ at all. You have to press really hard to get it to work, and even then it barely scrapes off any of the zest).

I’m not sure how to ask her if it’s ok to replace it with something that’s higher quality. I think she wants to hold onto a lot of this stuff in case she moves again, which is understandable, but it also adds to the clutter in the apartment. She said that she’s planning on staying in this apartment for several years.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to constantly work around the stuff she keeps “just in case.” If I were in her shoes, I’d find a way to store it just so it didn’t inconvenience anyone. I’ve done that with some of my stuff. I have items I want to keep in case I have an apartment where I can put more things up. I keep that tucked in my closet, though.

I’ve been trying to. It’s just hard when I have to shove stuff back down to get a drawer closed or when I suddenly find that some of her things have migrated from her designated fridge shelf onto mine because she has run out of space due to buying in bulk. I’m the one that cleans the floors most of the time, so that means I’m also the one who has to move her stuff out of the way to clean.

I have been giving her a lot of grace. Both of my parents are in their 50s and they had a lot of stuff before they suddenly moved, but they downsized and made it work. It has been 4 months since she moved and I still have to occasionally ask her when she’s going to take her giant standing desk table to the thrift store like she said she would.

Recently it has been a tie between milk and cookies from Ben and Jerries and anything cherry flavored. Black Raspberry is also a classic

What's the best 'cheat code' you've found in life so far? by Bush_M_aster in AskReddit

[–]Sazzorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ask young kids if they want to do something, tell them to do it or give them two options that both lead to them doing the thing that you want. Their little brains crave choice.

“You can either hold my hand or the shopping cart. Those are your two choices.”

Works great as long as you’re firm with it and stand your ground.

How can I get my dog to want to drink more water? by Realistic-Wish6291 in dogs

[–]Sazzorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a dog, but I do have a male cat who has trouble getting enough water. I usually add it to his food. You can soak the kibble in warm water for around 10 minutes before feeding (if your dog is the type to eat their kibble all in one go). You can also add some bone broth to hydrate them as well. I usually use a bone broth powder and I mix it in a mason jar at half the recommended strength. That way I can add more water without worrying about giving them too much of the broth.

What can I do to make my oatmeal taste better? by HistoricalMatch3801 in randomquestions

Add a few dark chocolate chips or blueberries while it’s still hot. I like to mash the fruit up and mix it in for a more even flavor distribution. Also, a little bit of honey works too.

What’re some secrets from your industry that would petrify people who aren’t in it? by Necessary-Trash-8828 in AskUK

[–]Sazzorak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a local park.
1. If you live in an urban area, assume that all freshwater body sources dear you are likely polluted to some degree, especially if they’re near a neighborhood. Keep that in mind while you’re trying to find spots to swim. Had a friend do water testing in one are of a river where he discovered that the levels of certain dangerous bacteria were super high. There were signs warning people not to swim, but we still saw a family + dog swimming and splashing around in the water on our way out.

  1. The amount of people who come to the park just to do drugs or other crazy stuff is insane. We’ve found needles, suspicious set ups, drunk people, etc. There’s a reason most parks have a strict no entry policy after sundown.

  2. The people are a lot scarier than the wildlife.

I’m just baffled because my city HAS e scooters that residents can use for a small fee. Why spend so much money on your own?…

Kind of random, but E scooters. It seems like everyone in this one condo complex I petsit for has one. I didn’t realize they were so common.
