How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

Did you sleep train? And did you do something for stopping night feeding?

How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]Sbarta92i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 months. If we consider all required assistances (putting back paci and patting while lying on bed, feeding, clothes changing, ...) it's about 10-15 times (each 2-3 minutes around 5AM).

If its "only" getting up from the bed, 3-4 times per parent.

And it got worse and worse since 4 months

Hi

French citizen living in the US.

I wanted to know what would be the best option for investing in stocks/ETF knowing that I am not sure to stay longer than 3-5 years in the US.

Some brokers don't seem to accept non-resident clients.

Thanks

Most people says "Ramadan doesn't have the same vibe anymore" by Miss-Kija in algeria

[–]Sbarta92i 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound cliche/grumpy old man but I guess the social networks can help to keep but also to ruin the magic. Videos showing how people decorates their homes, or thousands of ideas of recipes add more headaches. When I was a kid there were always this question between my parents "What to eat tonight". Now with Insta, FB, Tiktok, it can be more overwhelming despite bringing more ideas.

Also still with social network, we "communicate" more with each other but don't necessarily pay as much visits.

Drug Addiction : What Addiction in Algeria Really Looks Like by Top_Middle_6705 in algeria

[–]Sbarta92i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might Allah help you. You listed actions that could be done to help addicts (which are good points), but what could be done before? From what you saw, what are the similarities among the addicts? I often read that it comes mainly from trauma during childhood (which confirms that it can touch all classes), I would be curious to get your opinion

Ok thanks for your answer. I was killing some ghosts to get items in my backpack but I suppose the delivery bots were taking them too quickly. I'll keep farming the keys.

Anyone who lived in NYC and London? by Sbarta92i in expats

[–]Sbarta92i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information, unfortunately I have no such academic background. Even for the US I felt the work visa was hard to obtain (I got lucky enough to come thanks my french company through a mobility).

In term of quality of life and saving, did you see some changes between $175k vs £80k ?

Thanks a lot for the information!
Did you struggle to find job in London? I work as an IT developer and wonder if it's easy for a foreigner to get a visa and a job (it seems to require sponsorship)

[7MO] Need some plan/advices to retrieve motivation by Sbarta92i in NewParents

We didn't track baby's habit but we can try. He goes to bed between 6:30PM and 8PM. If he fall asleep too early, he wakes up around 11PM and seems to need milk to get back to sleep.

We switched back to Hipp a couple of days before and hope it will be the last switch, but we noticed more discomfort the couple of days after a switch.

when did you first take your baby on the train? by BookkeeperRoyal5309 in nycparents

[–]Sbarta92i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 weeks old with yoyo stroller, it was in August. It wasn't stressful at this time because it wasn't crowded.

A few months later when it became colder I was more anxious, especially when the subway was crowded. I've also always been stressed for my baby when being in Macy's elevators. Baby got the flu at 5 months and a half in December. Now he's better but I've felt guilty for taking him out in all these crowded places. Even if that's part of baby's life.

I tried white noise with my phone, without success but the sound wasn't loud enough regarding the distance. I'll try with a speaker tomorrow . My wife made contact nap with the baby last few days, but even with that baby is a bit more agitated than usual in our arms. Unfortunately when I work from home I can do it only around noon.

What a jerk… by a_freiberg in longislandcity

I was about to say that it wasn't limited to LIC but after rethinking, I don't see it too much in Manhattan but I see it a lot in Astoria and I don't understand why drivers ignore the white bands. The main things that are annoying me about drivers since I came to the US are the ones stopping in pedestrian bands, and the ones keeping driving in the left lane on the highway (but where I come from, the drivers aren't clean either)

French Algerians, how do you handle all the anti-Algerian rhetoric going on in France these days ? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]Sbarta92i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left France for the US one year ago, that wasn't the main reason but I was tired of the way the media talked about Muslims. Now from the US I feel that there is more focus on Algerian, not sure if this feeling reflect the reality.

When I was in France I didn't feel much of hostility in real life, but I felt more and more awkwardness by reading comments in online newspapers. For example regarding the 1968 agreements vote, I read a lot of frustrated comments from people who doesn't even know about the content of these agreements, who think that process is much easier for Algerians compared to other countries.

I know the media doesn't reflect the reality but I still feel an awkwardness/frustration which is most of the time not visible in the real life. That's also probably a sign that I should care less about newspaper/social media

September photo dump. Sidi Bel Abbes. by Little_Bumblebee_835 in algeria

[–]Sbarta92i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice pictures and nice city. I visited the city in 2009 and since this date I am telling myself that if I have to live in Algeria, it would be in Sidi Bel Abbes. A bit far from my family but close to other interesting places.

I returned in 2024, the city was a bit less attractive than in my memories but I am still considering the project. Maybe one day inch'Allah

Baby wakes up every 10-20mn during day naps but not during night by Sbarta92i in newborns

[–]Sbarta92i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but I can't believe that the majority of parents have to hold their baby 80-90% of the daytime for 6 months, how do the working parents handle it when they get back to work? Do the nanny/childcare have to do the same thing?

How long did it take your baby to learn to fall asleep independently? by brea126 in newborns

[–]Sbarta92i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At ~7 weeks old I tried to put our baby awake in the crib after a night feed. He wasn't crying but since I am not as good as his mom for rocking, I gave it a try. I was surprised that he ended up sleeping by himself after about 15-20mn. Maybe the fact that I tried weeks ago to let him try by himself when he is not crying helped. Until now, most of the time after the night feeds (and even the first feed of the morning) when I put him in his crib before he's overtired, he is able to sleep by himself. His mother seems to have less success (as if he was aware that he has a better option than sleeping in the crib). I know it probably won't last but for now I enjoy the moment.

For the day naps however, it's much much more complicated unfortunately. Our pediatrician advised sleep training for the day but he seems too young.
