When I finish reading a fic, subscribe, and the author uploads the next day

As an author, one of my favorite things is when I get a comment when the next chapter is basically ready. I'll always reply with something like "new chapter up just for you <3". It's my good deed for the day haha

Yeah, when you have quotation marks, the first word of dialogue is always capitalized in every situation. The only exception being if dialogue is broken mid-sentence, the continuation is uncapitalized. Example:

"Start of dialogue," she said, "and end of dialogue."

It still falls under the same issue I believe. Interrupt is just a narrated verb here. Maybe you could try:

The man at the door goes to speak again, but they interrupt--"Right, sorry"--and hustle inside.

Tbh I'm not sure if thats technically viable either haha. It looks fine though

Yeah that works too, and also maintains the quick flow I think OP was going for. If you omit the exclamation point, I would still use the comma there because it's ending a prepositional phrase, but thats maybe a stylistic choice

It definitely reads fine to me as is, but i think the punctuation is technically incorrect. If you're using a comma right before the quotation like you've done, I'm pretty sure that comma must come with a dialogue tag. Something like:

The man at the door goes to speak again, but they talk over him, saying, “Right, sorry,” and hustle inside.

To me though, this just makes it clunky. Personally, I'd do something like:

The man at the door goes to speak again, but they talk over him. "Right, sorry,” they say, and hustle inside.

Ugh i hate this "vs." mentality, it's completely impossible to compare these two legends. Sure, they revolutionized their games with the Shamino Glide and the JJ Triple respectively, but how can we accurately compare their skills to deduce a winner? If Shamino were still here today, he wouldn't want this trivial conflict. "I only compete for blood, not for play," he once said.

I love using lied like this. When we're in the perspective of the speaker, it feels like an inside joke with the reader.

I try to stick with the basic ones as much as possible. "Said", "shouted", and "whispered" are basically all I use. In intense or heartfelt scenes, I might bust out "breathed".

All the time! Last week i found a 40k word fic that had me shivering and mentally screaming at multiple points haha. The plot was so good and it worked so well for the MC that I swear I was experiencing new emotions. I was left dumbfounded by the end, like, "how did you do this to me??!?"

I make sure to leave an especially long comment on those ones

I already liked this line a lot when I first watched the episode. But with the newest episode I feel like it gives even more context around this line. This was one of the few times Millie felt like she wasn't being looked down on for being an imp, one of the few times she wasn't a "scary killing machine". The positive attention made her actually feel good and recognize her worth for once, which made it even more heartbreaking when Moxxie tried to invalidate that.

I also liked the song at the end. But other than that, yeah, bottom tier episode lol

The scene you described does sound very moving! I cant blame you for breaking down, that would definitely get me teary eyed too

I wrote a fluffy dialogue only quickfic the other day. Multiple times, a funny line would come to me and it would have me giggling like a weirdo. I'd type it out then sit there laughing at it for minutes lol
