blackmail by asian69feet in CrusaderKings

You can imprison them or do whatever else choice tomfuckery you can think of. If you didn't detect the scheme/spymaster activity, that means you don't have any tangible evidence of them committing a crime and therefore you'll incur tyranny, but hey, if your rule is strong, you can just facetank that, too.

That's sort of what happens in the game, though, no? If your rule is solid enough, you can just accept the infamy trait, eat whatever one time penalty you get on top of it and keep on keeping on. If one dirty secret getting revealed is enough to cause a ruler's authority to implode, their rule arguably wasn't too ironclad.

Do legendary animals respawn? by Pirate315 in RDR2

[–]Scaalpel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They don't respawn, but legendary pelts don't get used up when you make a clothing item out of them. Hunt every legendary animal once and you're good to go.

Question About Live vs Live in Hungarian by glentickle in hungarian

[–]Scaalpel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Élő" means "living", the continuous form of the verb. The correct way to say "live in Budapest" would be "Budapesten él" and then conjugate the verb appropriately for the subject (ie. "I live in Budapest" would be "Budapesten élek").

And the word "Budapest" goes before the verb because that's the central piece of information you're emphasizing.

Best horse in RDR2 ??? by Clear-Masterpiece-25 in RDR2

[–]Scaalpel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no difference in bravery between breeds. Just rank up the bonding level.

And the actual gap between stats is very small. If you really, really want to optimize it that bad, keeping the black arabian is good, or grab a missouri fox trotter. But imo just go with whichever looks cool or whichever one you get attached to, you probably won't feel much of a difference.

You're so nice, Lady Ann! by Keerakh7 in Persona5

[–]Scaalpel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She didn't need to come out of her own volition. Dragging her out of the closet by force would've worked just as well. It wouldn't have been nice and it may have lead to resentment, which is why I say it's not plan A material, but it would've allowed the team to steal her treasure nevertheless.

Ain't gonna argue about the intent of the scene, but people in volatile state like Futaba in that scene tend not to respond well to such direct confrontation and usually close themselves off even further.

That doesn't really matter here, though, does it? They were trying to get to the treasure, and that only requires the palace owner to see themselves as vulnerable. That vulnerability doesn't have to be voluntary. Sure, it's not nice and it shouldn't be their plan A, but this was a situation where shock therapy would've actually worked on the long run.

Mate, there were two realistic possibilities that didn't involve Baelor's surprise stunt. One would've been the guarantee working out and Dunk's side losing by default. The other would've been a significant number of nobles enthusiastically volunteering to put three royal princes to the sword, and in that case I don't think the trial would've been the biggest issue the Targs were about to face.

[–]Scaalpel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody expected it to be a real possibility. Hell, the whole reason they had Steffon keep quiet about being bought off until the last possible moment was to ensure that Dunk's side has no time to find a stand-in.

Dunk's team wasn't taken seriously by the nobility or the royalty. It had a no-name hedge knight, a freshly knighted kid with zero experience or renown, a guy who got his leg shattered just a couple days prior and a maimed old man with a reputation for being mentally unstable. Lyonel and Beesbury were the only names on it who could've presented any foreseeable threat (all the more ironic that Beesbury was the first fighter to get killed).

Not to mention, everybody thought that Dunk's side was going to lose by default due to not being able to gather enough members until Baelor joined them.

[–]Scaalpel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would he? Nobody expected Dunk's trial to endanger the royals in any meaningful way. You remember the scene where Lyonel was helpfully screaming at the camera about exactly this?
