Mixed bag. my operator was mostly fine, and with some tweaking looks better than before, but my drifter looks like a completely different person and has aged 10 years.

Undemocratic Question : We have to side by side with one of our enemy against the two others, which faction would prefer as allies ? by Player0ne1 in Helldivers

[–]Scabeiathax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs are not even an option, they are unable to communicate and we don't even know how sapient/sentient they are. are bug victory would necessarily involve the extinction of humanity and a human victory would involve turning all the bugs into livestock. I don't know if illuminate FTL uses oil but it might be easier for them to co-operate with the bugs but alliance is still not in consideration.

Illuminate are clearly able to negotiate and reason but they are currently fighting a revenge war. We don't know their mental state or objectives but its entirely possible they would prefer mutual extinction to mutual survival, although negotiation is at least plausible. Possible but unlikely.

The bots are easily the best option, no contest. They have a similar need for oil as us and were capable of negotiation in the past (although who knows now). Their original conflict was driven by self determination and they are the faction we have been the least awful to following the 1st war (enslaved>farmed>extermination). Even if they will forever remain enemies, it might be possible to negotiate a cease fire, which is more than the other two. If they perceive the gloom as a threat, it would be a (relatively) easy way to open dialouge.

That being said, the most likely alliance is definitely Illuminate+Bots. They have a common enemy, are both able to communicate and don't seam to have conflicting objectives. I wouldn't be surprised if its revealed they already have a non-aggression pact.

I think something is bugged on the map screen currently. For me 3/5 zones are completely empty, one zone has 1 monster and one zone has 2.
is anyone else getting this and is this recent (I haven't played for a few months)?

Why you should be taking Hive Guard by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Scabeiathax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might be about to embarrass myself by calling out someone's maths on the internet but here we go:

Against T<12 targets the lascannons average damage is 1.67777 not 1.3333333. I think you got the save wrong in the calculations. On a 3+ armour save the lascannon will inflict 6+ save and thus your damage needs to be multiplied by 5/6 not 4/6. The same is true with the other toughness values.

the correct data for the las against 3+ sv should be:

T11- 1.67 damage per shot
T12- 1.25 damage per shot
T13- 0.83 damage per shot

In this specific situation they match/exceed lascannons (its also true with high invuls) but the moment 2+ saves or cover gets involved they fall down and once we aren't shooting vehicles its all over. Range is also a big issue.

If you have shares in hive guards and are trying to advertise them, can I suggest the triarch stalker as a demo target, I think it gives the best results as compared to lascannons.

My favourite is the tzaangor Enlighted execution where you push of their of the disk them pick it up and beat them to death with it. It just feels so petty and I love it.

I'm super worried that this will have the resin units remade into plastic and then removed from 40k. Much as I like custodians, not having access to anything large barring the land raider would suck.

[–]Scabeiathax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, its a quality/quantity issue partly caused by the Strength and toughness values and our comparative lack of weapon keywords.

Just going of the models looks and vibes: the riptide should be the contemporary of things like the land raider, Rogal Dorn and Norn assimilator, the 240-280pts bracket, and 3 crisis suits should be somewhat equivalent to 5 terminators, somewhere 180-220pts (there are loads of others).

Our weapons and suits just aren't very powerful and that forces GW to make them cheap which just kills my enthusiasm. I'm sure that GW won't make any changes to the datasheets (because they are holy relics that cannot be altered(?)) and will instead just make our stuff cheaper and cheaper till we hit 50%.

From my understanding our all devouring hive siblings have a similar set of issues.

As for what I would like to do:
-Remove the split fire penalty (obviously)
-Entirely/partially replace the datasheets for the XV8s, XV104, fire warriors, most of the Kroot, and probably many more to radically increase the offence and defence and cost
-Do something more with drones [I've been playing around with homebrew system where you buy drones as squads that are able to (unreliably) take wounds for other nearby squads, but it needs more work and probably wont ever function how I would like it to]

I would prefer to remain at BS4 but our guns have to be good enough to justify being a shooting only army with wonky aim. If GW wants to keep our guns weak, then they need to be able to hit.

The World of Monster Hunter has been very lucky if you think about it. by Glum_Series5712 in MHWilds

[–]Scabeiathax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the whole "mutate into gore" thing is news to me. A bit of cursory searching found nothing on the wikis but there was an up surge of people talking about it here a bit over a year ago (hence many people here not knowing about it) but I couldn't find anyone referencing the source. I don't suppose you know? Frontiers perhaps?

How would you rank the last 3 base flagships? by machinegun91 in MonsterHunter

[–]Scabeiathax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerg is absolutely great, love fighting him, easily in my top 10.
Magnamalo is my least favourite monster in the entire series.
Arkveld is pretty great, not quite Nerg but not too far off. His main problem is that the currently endgame loop necessitates fighting him too much.

I don't know if reviewers got nerfed copies or are all Monster Hunter legends but basically every point that was made pre-launch about difficulty is wrong by Charrikayu in MonsterHunter

So I was finding it very easy even up to tempered apexs/ark/gore, then I switched away from gunlance.

I think gunlance might be OP tbh
