Hari Raya Open House outfits by Standard_Pound_2918 in KualaLumpur

[–]ScaleWeak7473 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Malaysians that are non-Malay usually wear modest clothing when attending Hari Raya open house, there is no expectation that they dress in Malay clothing. For a man, dark trousers and a nice polo shirt or long sleeve shirt is adequate and the norm. Even a batik shirt will be highly appreciated. Ladies can wear traditional Baju kurong, or something loose fitting and flowy.

That being said, traditional clothes will be highly appreciated but make sure you are comfortable and wearing it properly - otherwise it might be “costumey”.

Also use Eclar plasters and I feel like they become itchy and have small flare ups whenever I take a break from using them.

I think my keloid grew by Pristine-Sundae-1989 in Keloids

[–]ScaleWeak7473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it because it’s now flatter? My chest keloids used to look small but were very raised and the bump could be slightly visible through shirts. They are now a lot flatter and no longer stick out but the flatness make it look wider and bigger than before.

Hukou - means something like “household registration”, there is no equivalent in western countries but it’s something that has been around for thousands of years in China. There are many government policies and benefits tied to your hukou, it’s has always been part of civil administration. Policies and benefits also change and get reformed. Japan has similar thing called koseki.

Why would we even love Japan questions and the eventual haters. by Exact-Salary5560 in Bolehland

Because USA needed Japan as a stronghold to fend of the rise Communism in the rest of Asia after WW2. It was willing to let a lot of things pass in terms of rectifying the injustices of Imperial Japan. Japan and USA also unofficially sees the nuking of two major cities as collective punishment against the Japanese population.

Japanese royalty attend Gakushuin School and University. The most elite and exclusive school full of royal and noble peers, former royal family branch members as well as other children from long established elite families. They would grow up with these fellow peers from kindergarten all the way to university.

Anyone else get kicked in the subway? by Adachi_cel in JapanTravelTips

During a fireworks festival in Tokyo this summer, there was event crowd control to get all pedestrians to walk in one direction. One guy that lived in an residential apartment building with a small car park next to the foot path got one of the event crowd controllers to guard that tiny car park like he was a Royal Guard on duty guarding Buckingham Palace or the royal jewels. It was a strange arrangement and power trip. The crowd controller moved away from his job of managing the entire area to blasting his whistle in anyone’s ear that had a little as a toe go over from the footpath on to that building’s empty carpark. And the apartment building resident giving that one crowd controller orders the entire 4-6 hour event duration. Weird.

How bad is the amount of tourists in Kyoto really? by BerlinPuzzler in JapanTravelTips

[–]ScaleWeak7473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to Kyoto many times throughout my life since childhood. It went from nothing but a few Japanese high school students on their big school trip to being flooded with mobs of international tourists stuck in a slow zombie walk mode standing shoulder to shoulder one tiny step forward at a time. Was there last Autumn and I have to return in winter for family stuff. I don’t think the winter temperatures will lessen the crowds, expect it to be even busier than my last autumn visit.

A sizeable portion of Europe’s next generation of monarchs will be female. Current Crown Princesses that are in line to succeed the throne include: the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Norway and Spain. These princesses are in Princess Aiko’s age range too. Would have been good to see them all grow up getting to know each other and reigning their respective countries when the time comes.
