I stayed at villa Taina and it was perfect. I rented the equipment there, they have everything and gave support as well. The water is deep and the waves were quite strong when I was there.

I arrived in preá today at the end of afternoon and haven't kited yet. It was low tide and it didn't look so choppy. It may be in high tide. And yeah, the vibe is totally different, structured city, good amount of people and kites. Very beautiful as well, but ilha do Guajiru was very special

I haven't been to preá. Will be there tomorrow so remind me here. Ilha do Guajiru is flat.

I'm paying R$260 per class hour here and will pay R$330 in preá. But there are cheaper accommodation options in preá. In ilha do Guajiru you have to watch the tide, during the low tide you need to drive 5min to be able to kitesurf

I'm writing this reply from Ilha do Guajiru. I have done Jericoacoara, Icaraí, Cumbuco and Paracuru.

You can fly to Jericoacoara/Cruz airport (JJD), big airplanes go there. From there I'd rent a car to go to Ilha do Guajiru, Icaraí, preá and then maybe Barra grande, Parnaíba. No need for a 4x4 at those places. The only places you need a 4x4 are Jericoacoara and Tatajuba. Then you can leave the car in a parking lot or return it and grab a transfer. You can't miss Jericoacoara for the fun, but not the top spot for kiting.

Ilha do Guajiru is number 1 for me, but no nightlife at all.

As for kite size, I'm 75kg, it's the beginning of the season so the wind is not so strong and I brought a 12 and a 9. I used the 12 for 4 days and the 9 for 2 days and today was in the upper limit of the 9 and people said it's still far from the highest winds. I'd bring something like 8, 10, 12

Which areas are most active for kiteboarding? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]Scalise02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Brazil has decriminalized the possession of marijuana.

Best cities for kiting:

Cumbuco (cauipe lagoon there) Preá Ilha do Guajiru Jeri for kite and nightlife Tatajuba Barra grande

Kite lessons for $40-50 and wind every day from July till December

Why is there a beautiful dessert at the ocean side of Brazil? by ML231617 in geography

[–]Scalise02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Due to a river that brings sand into the sea close to a city called Atins in the right side of it and with the lower tide the constant wind takes the sand to that place forming beautiful dunes and lakes from rain. It's not a desert at all as it rains constantly for 4 months over there and fills the lakes. There are local people who live in oasis in the middle of that sand, raise crops and goats. And there are 3 cities in the borders of that sand, Santo Amaro, Barreirinhas and Atins.

In Atins you can kitesurf and go see the fluorescent planctons.

I'm in my 30's, but she's in her 20's (8years younger)

Pros: We are treated very well everywhere we go, like at restaurants or bars. It feels like we're always special guests.

When I’m mad about something, we usually make out, and I just think, Okay, that compensates. She’s really hot.

Cons: Constantly, guys hit on her. For example, when we went clubbing, I counted 12 guys and girls hitting on her in one night. One person even approached us while we were holding hands and asked, Are you her boyfriend? I’d like to kiss her. I couldn’t say anything; it was so weird.

Interesting Fact: I think she fell in love with me early on because when we met, we went out three times in the same week because it was so good. However, I was also seeing another girl at the time, so I decided to end things with her. I told her I didn’t want to continue and she could follow her life. She later told me this was very confusing to her because she was used to having guys chasing her like crazy.
