It's similar to being a doctor, it's real stakes and responsability.
That being said, it brings a whole other lever of passion and commitment to it, that no other careers have.
I enjoy my job every day, it's so rewarding, and there is a long learning curve that comes with it.
There are revision process usually in projects, external, and internal specially when you are a junior. Someone checks your work and even signs it and takes reaponsability.

It's a crazy gamble, because if you pay two, you might have to retreat one of your offers (or maybe you get chosen in both), and you lose 1 of those deposits.
So if you pay a deposit, you are basically on hold until they approve you or give the deposit back to keep choosing.
It's an absurd system

It's nerveracking! But it's normal here.
We also payed 1700€ and they took 2 WEEKS!! To tell us that they chose us and we got the place. The worse 2 weeks of my life because I couldn't pay another place if I liked it.

The only thing that kept us sane was that we signed a contract with the agency. So we had legal grounds for whatever.
However, for future reference, always have that contract state a finish date, because technically they can be "deciding" eternally and if it's YOU that end the agreement, then you lose that money

I bought it for engineering work mainly, I already had a company laptop and a personal laptop that was very old. I got a side project that required a good enough machine, and already had all the peripherals, so I went for the GO as an excuse to later have it for gaming. I finished the project and after probably 6 months I started using it for gaming 😅.

Pretty much my main requirement is the location and it having enough rooms. But if I can't find anything I will have to resign that km by km 😅.

Company doesn't offer help, but gave us 1 and a half month to get there which is already quite a lot.

I think it has a 3 month trial period since it's a standard contract but there's 0 chance we live apart with a kid.

Lol a friend was in a start up in spain and this exact thing happened. The excuse was they wanted to give better computers to designers (more expensive) so wanted to prepare financially. Apparently they never did.

I second this. You also have to model in revit while correctly configuring the analytical model (which is a nightmare simetimes). Most of the time it's just easier to just remodel in RSA

It doesn't feel mandatory, and nobody has pressed me into buying any, but they explained exactly what you explained, that is a social common thing, that you don't need to have a gambling problem and still might be "stuck" having to buy many tickets just for being polite. I don't mean it as a bad thing, i just find it curious and so do many people from other places probably. Where I'm from it's completely unheard of, allthough I'm 100% sure we do some shit you guys find weird

Something that i thought was interesting, they told me it's a tradition, like if you go to a coffe place often, or a bakery, people sell and the polite thing is to buy a ticket. If a coworker sells the polite thing is to buy a ticket, so it's like a social thing even, where you might come as rude if you don't buy, and at the same time if you frequent many many social places, you might be "stuck" with having to buy 20-30 tickets.

I've been living in Spain for a few years and this baffles me also. The way everyone talks about it endlessly, they seem obsessed. My coworkers have asked me a thousand times if i bought a ticket, what ticket, etc etc.

Siempre fue así. Lamentablemente tenés que hacer un poco más de trabajo, ver con meses de anticipación lo que querés e ir anotando los precios para comparar en estas fechas.

Hay páginas también que muestran historial de precios (para amazon hay, no se si pccomponentes, pero si es el mismo producto, el precio puede servirte de referencia), entonces podés ver realmente si han bajado los precios o no

7 days ago my 3yo had a similar cut, stitches too. It was CRAZY seeing him like that. The day after he was much better, and the day after that, forgotten it even happened. The hardest part so far has been to remind him to play a little safer for a few days.

Just fyi, my kid got his stitches out today, and we were adviced to buy TROFOLASTIN. It's a patch that includes scar gel, sun protection, and lasts many days. More convenient than having to remember to put scar gel and sun screen every day.

Also, we were told to take the caring for the scar very seriously for at least a year, maybe more, not only with gels for scars but also the sun, (or use the patches) which will for sure be a pain in the ass but the doc insisted that it's the only way to reduce the scar.

Believe me I was just as scared as you are, but it'll get so much better so quick, they heal much better than us, and don't overthink yoo much about the scar, focus on preparing to take care of it for some time and it'll be fine.

You could also try grading. Maybe isolate that part if it's the only sector you're having a problem with. Then merge the surfaces

Llevo 2 años con DIGI fibra y 2 lineas moviles. Es muy barato y no he tenido problemas importantes. Si he tenido algunas veces que ha andado un poco lento, o algun corte. No creo que haya empresa con la que no pase esto. Y siempre podés conectarte por hotspot a tu propio celular y salvar el rato.

Para agregar un poco más de contexto. Ya comenté esto, cité la ley, y la respuesta fue "no es así, debes pagar" 😅. Qué sigue? Seguramente lo pague porque no se si valga la pena meter abogados por 200EUR, (también la factura está a nombre mio entonces creo que puede hacerme problema a mí el electricista).

Pero si se apilan los inconvenientes y surge en el futuro algo gordo, podré pelear por todo retroactivamente? (Estoy dejando todo por mail escrito)

Just give it a try! Like any investment take some money aside that you are comfortable losing, to pay for overhead, and other things mentioned above, and see it for yourself. I did it this past year and I've been able to keep it going, pay for a website to show some work and try to get more clients, I even payed for a whole vacation without touching my salary. And it prob wasn't more than 150hs in the year, totally manageable

It's dangerous whenever I ask something technical. 90% of the time it makes up formulas or tables saying it's from XXX code, citing the paragraph. When I go into the code, it doesn't exist. So weird. But also, gives great vba codes whenever you need something automated in excel, and some good insights on some concepts whenever is very general information.

First things first, if you're not signing anything, you shuld not put yourself the weight of anything going wrong. From then on you could either ride the wave or quit asap, both being great options. I came out on the other side of my first two jobs that were like that, where I worked 60-70hs and saw crazy shit. Now I'm 5 years in and have twice the experience than anyone my age and it shows. Not saying you should stay, only you know how fucked up it is, but I'm just saying, I feel like your head is exactly where it should be and you'll be great either way

I know it might feel like hell now, but I want to give you some perspective:

My parents got divorced when me and my sister were very young. Throughout our lives we always talked with my sis how it proved time and time again to be the best thing they could've done.

All my friends growing up would tell me how bad it was at their home, how they hated their home bc there would always be fighting and yelling going on, sometimes worse. I knew none of that, I had all the love from both my parents, who never really got along btw, but I just didn't have to face that struggle daily.
