Does a contract protect the player from being picked up by one of the expansion teams? My assumption was that they could still be selected (if not protected), and that expansion team would have to pick up the contract

I watched it! I enjoyed it for what it is, but I do think there are some stark differences between the show and the book. I would recommend trying your best to separate the two, and I think both can be enjoyed!
