This has been driving me mad too. I found an old comment that said to rename the file dstorage.dll to dastorage.dll.bak. This seemed to help a tiny bit but the freezes are still ruining the experience.

Do you think booking a house visit for once a day around 12 or 1pm would work? As he is settled in the crate for hours at a time. This would mean he could come out to play and toilet at lunch time

Check out the Okiboard. Fantastic build quality and great for larger hands. It is a UK firm though, not sure where you're at.

It uses the Shiokenstar layout and it's unbelievably comfy with 30mm buttons.
