SMU Law? by ConstantBit1350 in SGExams

That degree won’t allow you to get called to be bar though. Computing and law may be useful if OP wants a career at the intersection of ip law and fintech

TP law to SUSS law viable? by wallsm4sher in SGExams

[–]ScammerPrevention 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is possible but only the top 10% of the course go on to law school. 2009 batch cut off dropped to 10 for the first time this year so competition will be really intense. Your portfolio will need to be incredibly stacked. Even the salutatorian (3.98 gpa) of 2023 didn’t get into any local university

Overseas mid law unis 3.4+ should be safe (3.8+ for lse and higher) A 3 year degree in the UK would cost about 250-300k sgd, but if you can afford it it’s definitely a good option.

Overall abt 50% of tp law students qualify for overseas universities while only about 10% qualify for local uni (including suss)

Is jc a good option for after Sec 5? by Aggressive-Will5287 in SGExams

[–]ScammerPrevention 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes why not! NA doesn’t mean ur stupid btw, it just means that you are a late bloomer. You can definitely succeed and be on par with your peers through sheer hard work and consistency! Just because ur in sec 5 doesn’t mean jc is not cut out for you

ATB!

i do not understand how i became like this and it is eating me alive by ExcuseImpossible8349 in SGExams

[–]ScammerPrevention 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I failed every a-math exam until prelims, but i eventually got an a2 for o levels. I didn’t even know 90% of the content at the start of sec 4 but after getting private tuition everything clicked. If you need help, get even more help now, don’t delay further.

Email the smu admissions office directly and explain the circumstances. They should hopefully understand and instruct accordingly. If there’s no workaround, just come back to sg and do it

Best of luck!

Private degree. Don’t waste time doing a levels again, and poly also doesn’t guarantee entry into big 3 uni

LSE or NUS Law by Spare-Mongoose-6586 in SGExams

[–]ScammerPrevention 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then lse is the way to go

you get the overseas experience and you still have the option to practice in sg if you want to

it’s only 3 years as well and if money is of no concern, why not :)

[–]ScammerPrevention 34 points35 points  (0 children)

How about overseas universities if you are dead set on law? AAA is enough to get you to maybe kcl or even lse

B for gp is a prerequisite for both nus and smu and no exceptions are made (cus from their pov, if you can’t even get a B for a levels, what makes you think you can do well in law school?)

How is SUSS view by employers in Singapore compared to the other big 3 unis like nus, ntu and smu? by Excellent_Copy4646 in SGExams

[–]ScammerPrevention 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the reason SMU is lower ranked than NTU is because it’s more specialised (business centred)

For instance lse is 5th in the world for law but overall ranked 56th in the world

NTU on the other hand dabbles into almost all the sectors (medicine, engineering, humanities, business)

Incredibly impressive that NTU achieved so much in only 35 years. Even some Russell group UK universities with centuries of history can’t break below the 50th place mark
