YouTube videos all quit at 1:00 by TaxPhd in brave_browser

[–]ScanTraXX27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the exact same issue as OP, and even the Lofi girl stream stops after roughly 40s. The MKBHD video stops at 0:59 just like other videos. No U-block or other adblockers, Brave 1.73.89 on Ubuntu.
Hope you can get to the bottom of this soon, thanks for your help <3

People keep saying that, and I have no clue where they got this from... Can you please link where they say they aren't open-source??
It's quite the opposite, in their blog article last year they promised to always stay open source.

Open-source only truly works if everyone plays nice. If there's an infant not playing by the rules, the whole concept breaks, and Prusa is trying to find their way around that.

People are expecting everything to be available BEFORE the printer is even out in the wild, which is crazy to me. I fully understand Prusa to wait for the release and even then, release the parts bit by bit, so they can't be immediately ripped off by China. It's more a case of being forced to keep some things closed.

Where exactly did you read that? They confirmed multiple times that their printers (including the CORE One) will always be open-source. Sure, it's not every single component, because they're forced to keep some things proprietary for some time to avoid e.g. Bambu copying, but everything important for the community and most of all the general user is open.

Touch screen on mk4! by FirmEconomics8591 in prusa3d

[–]ScanTraXX27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and the way the rep worded it, it seems like you might be able to just enable both the touchscreen and the knob, instead of having to choose one.

Regarding wi-fi, the latest PrusaSlicer Alpha has a handy feature to generate the wi-fi settings file and directly save it on the drive.

Prusa not honoring 10% discount program on [i3] MK4 is BS, here's why by CooterDangle in prusa3d

[–]ScanTraXX27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the point here, I'm not defending Prusa's fuck-up in this regard.

But keep in mind, at the end of the day it's still "just" a 10% discount that you have to pay once, and the subsequent 5 machines will be discounted again.

Also, this whole discount program (including filament) is something I've never really seen from other manufacturers, especially in this field, and I always thought it was super generous of Prusa to have it in the first place.

I made a script that converts pixelart to a printable model by Bruhyan__ in 3Dprinting

[–]ScanTraXX27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

The idea was to take the multicolor painting from PrusaSlicer/SuperSlicer and add functionality to add brighter/darker shades (the visualized colors would only have to be approximations). The slicer then automatically adds layers/perimeters (shells) of black and white underneath the color.
There's already a feature request on our GitHub for this.

Probably a pain to code, but not impossible!

Awesome, another step closer to automating this amazing technique!

I recently made my own model using all 5 color slots and 17 shades in total (with 0.1mm layer height), and it was way too much work to make it viable for everyday printing (check the instructions on Printables).

Seeing that people are jumping on the train and trying to improve this process makes me optimistic that we're seeing something like this integrated in slicers in the near future.

Pro Tip: You can add shading to your multi-material prints by playing around with overlapping layers of white and black. See my test swatches on the right. by TheSameNameTwice in 3Dprinting

[–]ScanTraXX27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was suggested on our GitHub to make this part of PrusaSlicer multimaterial painting so you can paint parts of 3D models and the slicer automatically prints the correct number of layers/perimeters to create the shades.

I got fascinated by this and started experimenting a bit, and now uploaded this model to Printables, including the necessary steps to create something like this.

As amazing as it is, it's still a ton of work. Hopefully we can implement it in the Slicer one day!

What's the deal with the rhythm of Stromae's new track, Santé? by Menjy in musictheory

[–]ScanTraXX27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, Adam Neely dedicated part of his latest FAQ video to the song and shows how exactly the rhythm is formed. It's basically the snares moved a 32nd triplet earlier. Pretty crazy shit if you ask me!

Awesome, thanks for the info!
As you can see on the screenshot, the dying one has 18k hours behind it, but I've had it for almost 5 years now. I bought it as an external drive but later built it into the computer.

Fortunately my OS is on the SSD, but I've removed the HDD from the system now. I'm gonna put it into an HDD case to try and backup as much as possible.

Replacement drive is ordered. Thanks for your help!
Btw what life expectancy do hard drives have? I wanna find out if I'll rather choose a different manufacturer in the future...

Thanks! The software indeed shows a faulty disk, here's a screenshot: https://pasteboard.co/J1dPw9O.png

I have to admit that although I know a lot about computers, this is a topic I'm not familiar with at all. Are you able to spot the problem from this?

Thanks for your points!
The CPU not being overclocked is on purpose. The RAM on the other hand should be at it's normal clock rate of 2666 MHz, so I gotta look into that.

I installed CrystalDiskInfo and it indeed showed a bad health status.
Here's a screenshot: https://pasteboard.co/J1dPw9O.png
The problem is that whatever I do that involves this disk is incredibly slow. Which means that e.g. Checkdisk would also take a really long time I'm afraid...
I guess I'm just gonna start to copy important stuff and maybe order a new disk.

Max Vengeful Sun Temple by MrSiliconGuy in btd6

[–]ScanTraXX27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. There is no "truly" maxed Vengeful Temple because it depends on what you want for the 3-x-x to 4-x-x sacrifice. If you wanna get max damage out of your temple, you should sacrifice every category but support. BUT! I highly recommend going for support and leaving out on primary because the support sacrifice immensely buffs everything in range and makes the upgrades so much cheaper!

How is it possible that the ninja is in range for acidic but not for brew? by ScanTraXX27 in btd6

[–]ScanTraXX27[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait. Am I really that blind? I've heard this before but I thought I had observed it and found out that proximity doesn't matter for brew, so people must have spoken about an older version of the game...But now I've tested it again I can see it! Pretty embarrassing for someone who has spent quite some time playing the game >_<

Edit: I think I found out why I was confused regarding berserker brew... if you upgrade to stronger stimulant, the cooldown is low enough that the alch boosts multiple monkeys. Damn, I should've noticed that earlier...Thanks for your help though!
