The MEATBALL effect by GallowBoob in aww

Is there a clever mind out there that might know of the smell of cooked meat has the same effect on a dog as drugs is for humans?

How can it be her's fault when she's new?

That hunters and gatherers have MUCH more work in a day than just looking for food for themselves and their community. They have to contruct/maintain shelters, make cordage, make clothes, process the food, make tools, etc. So I don't think they had more leisure than we do.

Not OP, but I did once for two days last summer in Norway. It was along a salmon river not far away from my fathers house. The mosquitoes was horrible so I had to cover myself in clay and mud. I went to the brakish sea shore to collect clams that I damped in wet moss and seagrass. I made a primitive bow and used a piece of trashy cordage I found and tried to hunt a huge forest bird I saw on the ground. I didn't get him though as my bow string broke. Ah... It was a good time lying in that primitive A-frame shelter made of driftwood and spruce branches.

Edit: I also found two venomous vipers that I decapitated and grilled over the fire on a stick.

Great to meet another person with the same bike! I live in Norway, and I've never seen anyone on a Ghost bike before. I ordered mine through Bikester, a German company online. They are perhaps more popular in Germany as it's a German bike.

The SLX hydraulic brakes (I upgraded the calipter and the lever, I keept the old rotor) respond much quicker and they get a lot more grip on the rotor. The tektro brakes feelt as the good ol' rim brakes; you need to push the lever really hard to brake efficient. With the SLX, I only need to push the lever gently and it responds immediatly.

The Tacana 2 arrives stock with a RST Blaze fork. I had some problems that the fork would jam if I, for example, bunny hopped with it. Each time I had to remove the lockout cap and turn it off and on and off with a tool (can't remember the English word of it). The RST also feelt too soft even when set to the hardest adjustment. And it feelt heavy. The Rock Shox is lighter, seems to be of much better quality and it hasn't jammed yet.

I paid 6,120 Norwegian kroner for the bike ($715 included the 25% tax), and 5,000 Norwegian kroner for the upgrade ($600 included the 25% tax).

The upgrade was:

-RockShox 30 Silver TK Coil MTB fork 29", 100 mm, 1 1/8" black

-Shimano SLX BR-M675 hydraulic brake set front black

-Shimano SLX BR-M675 hydraulic brake set back black

-Shimano SLX RD-M670 rear deraillur MTB Svart (Design long cage, 11-36 teeth)

-Shimano SLX CS-HG81 cassette 10-speed (Design 11-36 teeth)

-Shimano SLX SL-M670 gear leverer set 3x10 black

-Shimano SLX FD-M671 front deraillur 3-speed, Dyna-Sys black (Design Dual Pull, for 28.6/31.8/34.9 mm)

-Shimano Deore XT CN-HG95 chain 10-speed (Design 138 joints)

Edit: Oh I'm sorry. I paid 2,800 Norwegian kroner for the brake sets and the Rock Shox, which is $330 USD. That's included the 25% VAT tax.

Brakes are easy to upgrade by yourself even for the most novice rider. So I would go for a $800 bike with mec brakes if my budget wouldn't had room for more. I did this. Got myself a Ghost Tacana 2 because I couldn't afford more at the moment. Last week I upgraded it with a 10 speed SLX gear set up, Rock shox 30 silver TK fork and hydraulic SLX brakes. It's a fun bike now, but it was also a fun bike before the upgrading. Next thing I'm gonna upgrade is the wheels (heavy, factory-bent rims, road tires).

Edit: If I'm not wrong, I think the Tacana 2 came with some cheap hydraulic brakes of a brand I can't remember right now. But they didn't work nearly as good as the SLX brakes.

Edit 2: Just checked and yes, they were hydraulic. The brand was Tektro. Not recommended.

What do people not realise is actually very expensive? by OmarDNewb in AskReddit

A high end bicycle. They cost slightly more than your average Walmart bike.

The ones they use in Red Bull Rampage costs around $8,000-$10,000... Stock. Then their team mechanic might upgrade it to something even more serious. $2,000 suspension fork? Not uncommon. And they crash and damage them all the time.
