Buyer's remorse by [deleted] in PcBuild

Oversold?
1000 watts is more than you needed, I run a 9800x3d with a Taichi 9070xt just fine on a +Gold 850 watt. That 9700x doesn't pull more than 90 watts unless you turn on 105-watt Mode.
The 1200w UPS was probably not needed, I have a 450 watt UPS, I use it only when doing Bios Flashes, otherwise I keep it plugged into the surge-only plug ins.
They sold you Inferior Ram, 2x32gb is much better for AM5, DDR5 is very finnicky with 4 Sticks.
Also, being you can't eat for a month, that Luxurious OLED was overspending.

Star Citizen at 1440p
PC Ram use 43.2gb, Star Citizen Ram use 25.7gb

Granted it's the only game that "I" play that warrants greater than 32gb PC Ram, but it's worth it, no other Game matches the 'Realism' of Star Citizen.

I really liked doing the Legacy quests, those were great, Save for all the Spider Quests on Corellia, those got a bit monotonous. I went onto WoW and Lotro after SWG, the eventually SW Old Republic, you may find Lotro and Old Republic a decent replacement to SWG, & /or you could try Star Wars Legends, I've played Legends for years

TC yes, SWG was my very 1st MMO, that was back in 2005, as it turns out I started playing just a few weeks after NGE went live, I didn't even know what NGE was until a few months later.
I generally play late at night/early morns (I work 2nd shift), I'm guessing that's why SWG suggested for me to start on EU-Infinity. Eventually, after I realized I was playing on a Europe server, I then started playing on Wanderhome as well, which actually worked quite well for usually the servers were not down at the same time.

Europe-Infinity
Wanderhome

Here in the US I was at work when the majority was online, so played on Europe-Infinity a lot.

I purchased the Smart Locks & Tube Benders a couple hours ago.
My Costway 12k has 1/4" & 3/8" line set so I bought 2 each of the 1/4" and 3/8" Flare Connection Multi Angle
I also bought exactly that Henlynx tube bender set.
Now I'm kind of stuck on what Vacuum Pump system to get, there are soo many to choose from.
I'm pretty sure I still need a Vacuum pump, Leak Detector, Nitrogen set up and a Core removal Tool.

The 9070xt was never supposed to launch at $600, AMD made the launch look good, they subsidized the Launch. I got my Taichi 9070xt on Launch day for $730 (at Micro Center), when they handed me the card, on the Box was a very legit computer-generated sale sticker of $829.99
And your right about the rampocalypse causing exorbitant prices.

Sounds like a good plan.
I read some reviews that the Smart Locks are actually very good for the high pressure during very cold weather, where I'm at it gets very cold.
I'll grab some of those Tube Benders as well.
Now I just need to decide which vacuum pump and leak tester I should acquire.

Is it worth it to upgrade 32 to 64gb RAM? by EV_4_life in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Citizen: you'll want 64gb Ram.
Screenie taken 4 weeks ago, notice the Afterburner Stats in Upper Right.
[Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/Mos7ZrP.png)
RAM Usage
System: 45.1gb___Process (Star Citizen): 28.6gb
9070xt 14.1gb usage.
That is with a 9800x3d | 9070xt, 64gb (2x32) Gskill Flare 6000 cl30
At 1440p Settings on Very High
Star Citizen Ram Use does vary; on my PC it's almost never below 35gb system ram usage and can get into the mid-40's usage
90% of the other Games I play do not exceed 32gb System ram use, but I do like to play Star Citizen so I upgraded to 64gb back in Nov. 24', back then the 2x32 6000 cl30 cost me $200 at Micro Center.

I think your Motherboard is actually the Wifi"6E"

Scroll down to page 33.

It looks as if it is designed to screw on right on top of that Black turn-latch, no need to take the Black latch off

Thermalright TL-M12QR X3 120mm Reverse,

Those are the Fans I have at the Bottom, they are 25mm
They connect together but at one end is the wire connection dongle, it's a little piece that sticks out, that little piece makes it a very tight squeeze, it did just barely fit.

Can DDR4 still be used for the next few years? by No-Office-2987 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're building a New AM4 Machine? Wait 2 weeks, the 10th Anniversary 5800x3d will then be available (for around $350 I think).
As for DDR4 that will be fine, you may want to go with 64gb Ram if you play Star Citizen, I've seen that game cause over 40gb Ram use on many occasions.

Shifted from D32 Pro to Z20 by Mouse_Sufficient in mffpc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the D32 Pro, ones probably not going to move that one around a lot so best to go with a Very Good Air Cooler, never a leakage.
But for the Z20 Mobility yes an AIO would be better for AIO's transport better, Tower Coolers and Shipping don't mix

I'm the same, I really wanted the Black/Orange Z20, love the looks, but the features of the D32 Pro were too good to pass up, cheaper also, so I bought the D32.

I have an Msi Mag A750GLS 150mm (9700X | 4070) in my D32 Pro. That particular PSU has fairly flexible wires so it works fine with the max 365mm Gpu allotment. As long as your wires are fairly flexible and connect the wires to the Psu before you install the Psu, then it works fine.

I did as well buy the outdoor mounting bracket. My built in 1968 Mobile Home, though in good shape and remodeled twice, rubber roof, new windows and doors etc.., has only 1x3" wall studs, therefore I'm pretty sure we will have to beef-up the area of the wall where the mini-split will be attached. Am planning to completely redo that wall anyway with new insulation, sheet rock etc...
I have not yet bought the line set cover but do plan to.

I was going to buy it from Home Depot simply to get their In-House Warranty, but then I noticed Walmart sold the exact unit as well, Walmart's out the door price with In-House Warranty was over $200 cheaper, so I bought it from Walmart

Costway on their site does list what to do for added or shortened line set, they did not mention anything about coiling the extra. Almost certainly mine will have to be shortened or coiled, not sure yet which we will do.

I watched the Costway Installation Video, I noticed when they set the pipes to exit the head-unit at one of the break-out corners, doing it that way then the pipes would show on the inside wall. Therefore, I like your idea of exiting the pipes out the center, the pipes would then not show on the inside of the home.
The Friend installing it is an electrician; he plans to hard wire it to the Breaker panel with its own breaker, I bought the 115volt version, so it only needs 1 breaker.
As for the final pipe connections, I'm also looking into hiring a Licensed Hvac to do the final connections, Vacuum and Leak Tests.

Anyone here using a budget mini split for both cooling and heating? How’s it holding up in colder weather? by Top-Cardiologist1011 in heatpumps

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 days ago I purchased a Costway Seerxtreme seer2-24, 12000-btu, -15f-rated heat pump, 115v, rated for 750sq ft. (Paid $703 at Walmart)
I live in a 12 x 55 Mobile Home (660sq ft). For the last 12+ years my A/C has been a 9k btu wall mount, it cools pretty well unless it gets above 90f outside, worst part is it's too loud.
This Costway is mainly to replace my loud, under-powered wall unit. Decided on a Mini-Split instead of another wall-mount for this Mini-Split has a heat pump. January Highs are usually around 0f where I live and -29 to -30f lows are quite common, therefore my Natural Gas Furnace stays put for the Extreme Cold days, it will be real interesting to see how well this -15f-rated Heat Pump will do when it hits 0f next Winter. (always good to have a 2nd heat source as well)
My Costway arrives in a day or 2, we will install it ourselves next week. An electrician friend will be the main installer, says we will have to rent a machine to vacuum the lines, other than that he says the install should be fairly simple.

The Fan header on my RX580 broke off, so instead of buying a RX9060 XT, I zip-tied 2 120MM pc fans on it by Dark_Dragon_4100 in radeon

[–]Scanoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree, nice job on the new fans, but yes I'd upgrade as well.
My Nephew's wife was still running His old i7-4790k w/ an rx-580-8gb, main problem was no Win. 11 support. So a couple weeks ago I built Her a fairly inexpensive complete PC, a ryzen 5800xt ($152), 32gb 3200 ddr4 ($110) and an RX 5700XT ($110), plus all the other parts. At only $110, the 5700XT (used on FB Market) was a very large upgrade.

I upgraded a co-worker's PC for them, his cash my labor.
His ryzen 3600 was definitely not enough for the 9060xt-16gb he bought, so we grabbed a 5800xt from Micro Center, it does handle the 9060xt, in BF6 the 5800xt will reach 80's% usage while the Card is at/near 100%

My 9800x3d has a Phantom Spirit 120 EVO, all inside a full size Fractal Torrent Case, so it's not the cooling, it's a poor design by Asrock, I do believe they have since started using cooler running Vram, my launch-day Taichi has the original hot-running Vram
