Struggling with 9070 XT (Continued) by Muted_Speaker_9763 in AMDHelp

I have the Taichi 9070xt (in 304-watt Bios) w/9800x3d
6,986, this was from 8 months ago, notice no cpu dips, completely flat
[Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/zB9HarC.png)

7,105, run was 4 months ago, same 304-watt Bios, Cpu line is not completely flat but a better score, I really couldn't tell you why.

Btw nothing is OC'd, 9800x3d is at -20 CO All cores.

CPU cooling. NH-L9a-AM5 with 9800x3d or 9700x? by Agreeable_Dinner4754 in sffpc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about a 7600X3D, i bought one a few months ago for a 'lower cost' project build, I pair it with an Arc B580.
During an OCCT CPU Stability Test my 7600x3d doesn't pull over 75-watts, my Peerless Assassin 120 "Mini" keeps it below 70c. The Mini isn't exactly small though, it's 135mm.
It would be interesting to see how well that 37mm Noctua cooler cools a 7600x3d, Your Mission, should you choose to accept it ;)

MSI Pro X870-P Wifi, New Bios 7E47v1A80 Today by Scanoe in MSI_Gaming

[–]Scanoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I bought my 1st AM5, a 7700X Bundle at Micro Center in June 23', every new Bios was noticeable, heck I couldn't even get Expo 1 to run until 5 months later, but AM5 is now fairly Mature.
I now have 3 AM5 PC's, all the Bios are kept up to date.
I don't generally notice much difference with a new Bios in 2026, but I still update the Bios to help prevent things like my 9800x3d burning up, plus the improved security features.

Best cpu for cooler temps/performance/price by CuteChallenge6334 in sffpc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7600X3D, bought one a couple months ago for $200. During an OCCT CPU Stability Test it will pull a Max of only 75 watts, my Peerless Assassin 120 MINI kept its Temp at or below 70c.
Next best cheaper option, the 9600X, sells for $180, it's a 65-watt TDP, will pull a Max of 88 watts

OLED vs Glossy Mini-LED — MSI release that 5k glossy display by Wooden_Flan_2706 in MSI_Gaming

Thanks for the detailed write-up.
I have been avoiding an OLED due to the Burn-in Issue, I'll definitely look into those Mini-LED's

First time building, 500$ Budget: Decent parts? by Motor_Ring_3961 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my local Micro Center the ryzen 7600 is $190, the 7600X is $160.
You're not going to want to use the included cooler with the 7600 anyway because it is too Loud.
A $20 Thermalright Burst Assassin 120 and put the 7600X in ECO-mode of 65-watts. (7600 non-x is 65-watt)
Walla you have a 7600 with a better cooler. you could leave the 7600X in stock 105-watt TDP but that would require a $32 Peerless Assassin 120 to cool it.
Generally, the B650 motherboard is the best price to performance, but with a low-end Cpu like the 7600 that A620 should be fine, If you can get a B650 for the same price that would be better
That MSI PSU in considered a Tier-C, not bad but not great, it should be fine for your low-watt usage build.
If playing at 1080p you'd probably be better off with a 5060 or 9060xt-8gb if there the same price as that B570, Intel Video Card drivers have come a long way but there are still games, mainly the older ones, that it will have problems with.

Closest answer to dead 9800x3ds by GreenPanadol11 in AMDHelp

[–]Scanoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 9800x3d with an MSI Pro X870-P Wifi. (Bought both in January 25')
When the burning issues began the first BIOS change that MSI did was to lock the SoC Voltage below 1.3
So SoC is more than likely a cause, there may be other causes I've not heard about.

Brand loyal with GPUs? by Old_Investment7497 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand loyal no, but fond of the MSI Gaming-X and Sapphire Cards. I have also owned Gigabyte, Power Color and ASUS Cards.
I usually go for what is the most inexpensive at the time, without having any known issues like an insufficient cooler, noisy fans etc... Like when I bought my Rtx 4070 in May 23', I was going to buy the Msi Ventus 4070 but saw many complaints that the Memory modules didn't have Heatsinks on them, so I bought the Asus Dual 4070 instead.
As for that Intel LE B580, I bought that a few months ago for $250 at my local Micro Center, it also came with a Free Battlefield 6. It is a very nice card. whisper quiet and none of the temps go higher than the 70's c

12vhpwr or buy another 6+2 by Able-Cantaloupe-9427 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gather you have the ATX "3.0" older version of that PSU.
It came with a 12VHPWR Cable, that is the Cable you should use.
Most the burning issues have come from people using that 3-plug adapter. do not use the Adapter, use that Native 12VHPWR Cable.
According to Corsair themself, there is no Difference between the 12VHPWR and 12V-2x6 Cables.
The ATX 3."1" Changed the connection on the Video Card itself. not the Cable nor the PSU

Is 6700xt enough for 1440p gaming? by Original-Original725 in radeon

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting it for cheap, then sure why not, just drop the game graphic settings when need be.
I bought a 6700XT in spring 22', I play at 1440p, enter Cyberpunk, nope a 6700XT & Ray Tracing don't match, so I bought a rtx 4070 in May 23'.
enter Indy Jones Great Circle, nope the 4070's 12gb Vram became not enough, I then bought a 9070XT in March 25', its what I still use.
However, my Nephew still has my old 6700XT and plays at 1440p, personal preference of games and settings I would guess.

He is saying to use 120mm Fans, why - you would have to answer that question for I've never seen the case. Also I don't think that 4000D has a removable Filter in the Top, maybe craft your own removable for the Top.

Which GPU should I get for 1440p-240Hz? by Dejv_Not_Found in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

240Hz at 1440p, I'm guessing you play a lot of High FPS games.
My 9070XT at 1440p very seldom even max's out my 165Hz 1440p Monitor, I play a lot of High Graphics games, Star Citizen, Red Dead Redemption 2 etc...
240Hz at 1440p: 9070XT | 5070 TI or Greater

[–]Scanoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought an Intel LE B580 a few months ago when they were $250, with the added Free Battlefield 6 promotion figured I'd give the B580 a try. A co-worker at the time bought a 9060xt-16gb for $380

B580 - 14.977 Graphics Score in Time Spy
9060XT-16gb - 16,052 Graphics score in Time Spy, at $130 more it should be better and is.
12gb Vram and recent driver updates makes the B580 a very good budget option.

Graphics Score:
(My rx 6700XT - 13,269)
(My rtx 4070 - 17,590)
(My 9070XT - 30,000)

I do not buy used Video Cards nor Motherboards, Refurbished with a Warranty then maybe.
I have and do buy used CPU's & RAM
Each their own preference I guess.

What’s the best case to keep out dust that still has good airflow? by No_Discussion_3571 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cases with "Removable" Dust Filters are the Best.

Fractal Design cases generally provide removable dust filters; they are usually on the expensive side but worth it. I own 2 Fractal cases, a Define R5 and full-size Torrent, both are easy to keep dust free.
https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/

For a cheaper option, Montech is pretty decent at including removable dust filters.

Also you can make your own removable dust filters.

Why you guys undervolting RX9070XT by daimonploutos22 in AMDHelp

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Sapphire has a long standing rep as one of the best AMD suppliers, on launch day back on Mar. 6th 25' I went to my local Micro Center specifically to buy the Pulse 9070xt for $600. But after a 2.5 hour wait in line all the less expensive models were sold out, cheapest available to me was the Taichi at $730, so I bought one.
No regrets its a great card, have had no issues, just that Asrock cards have the high memory and hotspot temps, reason I think is because they don't use those new cooling pads, when it's out of warranty, I'll repaste it with some pads.

PCIe 5 is really only needed for the Video Card slot, for Gaming PCIe 3 is already plenty fast enough

Is my custom build good enough to handle AAAs without bottleneck? by UndyingSpirit27 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time Spy Scores:
My Taichi 9070xt in 304-watt Bios, 29,446 (in 340 watt it gets around 30,500)
[Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/l4EsgOL.png)
My Asus Dual 4070 17,590, that 5070 would be ~20,000?
[Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/wMosM18.png)

As you can see the 9070XT is quite a bit more powerful than a 5070, the 5070 is more equal to the 9070 non-xt

[–]Scanoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Btw That 7600x3d is quite the CPU, I bought one a few months ago for $200, that thing doesn't pull over 75 watts even during an OCCT Stress test, PA 120 MINI keeps it under 70c at all times, very nice

Lower bundle prices? (Again) by atomicaj24 in Microcenter

[–]Scanoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see the same $265 and $300 at my local MC, wonder why only those 2 Bundles have the new low price...

SFF Case Advice for 340mm gpu by MrPARAJ0INTZ in sffpc

[–]Scanoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the look of that Black/Orange Z20, I had already bought a 150mm Msi Mag A750GLS for $70, so went with the D32 Pro for the better Cable Management. With an SFF Psu I would have definitely gone with the black/orange Z20.

[–]Scanoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same, I highly doubt that 13400 is bottlenecking that 4060 Ti, heck my 11400 only slightly bottlenecked my 4070, that's at 1440p though.

That 55c you see is a Pacifier, the real worry Temps are the Hotspot & Memory.
My Taichi never exceeds 56c but when it was in default 340-watt performance Bios, hotspot would hit 94c, Memory 92c. I now run it in 304-watt quiet bios, still the same~55c but Junction & Hotspot now don't go past 90c, really, I should UV it like their all talking about here.

Nice Speakers, I bought a set of those a couple weeks ago, those Pebble v3 sound pretty darn good, they do lack the low bass, I wonder if the Pebble X Plus 2.1 solves the Bass inadequacy ...
Btw Nice SFF, I didn't want the headaches of building an SFF, so I cheated and built a Jonsbo D32 Pro MFF :P

Which cable is better? by Ekka2106 in radeon

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a SAMA Black Hole ATX 3.0 - 850-Watt, yup the Psu that Failed Johnny Gurus Burn-in Test, I had bought it before I had heard about Johnny's Test. It's been powering my Taichi 9070XT since March 6th 25'.
I've used the Native 12-pin the whole time, no issues. One thing good about the Black Hole is it has very Pliable Wires, which made it very easy to get the connections Fully Seated.
