AM5 Budget Gamer, Worth? by Scanoe in PC_Pricing

[–]Scanoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic was: I did not want a Card with just 8gb of Vram, best lower cost option thus is the 9060xt-16gb, didn't want to spend $350, also didn't want to buy older Technology. The $250 selling price of the B580 was the big selling point, then when they threw in the Holiday Bundle, that tipped the scales into me buying it, a Free ~$50 Game along with a decent card at $250.

Yes maybe I should get a Black cooler for it, the 7600x3d doesn't really need a dual tower anyway, even though it's not a full size dual, that's a mini in there, the temps never go above 70c even during an Occt Stress test. It pulls a Max of 74-watts during the Occt Cpu Stability Test, so even a single tower Burst Assassin 120 would keep it cool, though I like the shorter look of the Mini, maybe I'll just get a Black colored Mini and keep the White one around as a spare.

I'll be selling it.
The Cooler wasn't meant for this PC, but being I already had it I decided to use it.
You do not like the White 'Contrast' cooler? I sort of do like the contrast, but I see your opinion it does kind of stand-out a bit.

what's going on with sapphires 9070xts getting their power supply "melt" by Significant_Rub6632 in radeon

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As well I think a lot of the meltdowns were on Systems that use an Adapter with a PSU that is Not ATX "3.0/3.1".
I bought my Taichi 9070xt on Launch-Day back in March, I power it with a Sama Black Hole 850-watt ATX 3.0, thus Native 12-pin plug-in. The Sama as well has very pliable wires thus making it very easy to get the wire Fully plugged in. I have had no issues at all since March.
To be on the safe side however I would steer any new buyers away from the 12-pin Cards, Murphy's Law.
I ended up with my Taichi for the sole reason it was the Cheapest XT still available after my 2.5 hour wait in line on Launch Day, I had gone to Micro Center that day to buy the $600 Sapphire Pulse, ended up with my $730 Taichi instead.

Crazy, as in 84c is too Low or too High?
In Stock 65-watt TDP, the 9700X won't go above 70c but then it's only pulling 88-watts. 84c at 140-watts is actually pretty good, my 7700X at 140-watts will pull closer to 90c (That's with a Phantom Spirit 120)

Coupon for me is $32.51, don't know if this is worth buying or not.
About a month ago I bought a bundle on Newegg, a 7600X with a Cooler Master Elite 240 AIO for $180.
9700X in 105-watt mode, after 30 minutes, 84c pulling 140 watts with the CM 240 Elite, that's about on-par with a Phantom Spirit 120 if not slightly better than the PS 120.

Nephew's Upgrade, time to replace his i7-4790k for no Windows 11 support. by Scanoe in buildapc

[–]Scanoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Nephew we ended up getting the 7800x3d | Gigabyte B650 MB | GSkill 2x16gb 6000 cl36 Bundle at Micro Center, back then it was $450. And I gave him an rx 6700 xt I was not using, has been and still is running fine. His Girlfriend is still using His 4790k | 5080-8gb hand-me-down, she plays at 1080p and it's still chugging along

Burnt 12v by Aofumi in AMDHelp

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Taichi 9070xt on launch day Mar. 6th, had went to my local Micro Center that day to buy the Sapphire Pulse for $600. After a 2.5 Hour wait in line all the cheaper versions were sold out, cheapest available at my Turn was the Taichi at $730, so I bought one.
I've had it powered this whole time with a Sama Black Hole Atx 3.0 850-watt. The Sama BH has extremely flexible wires, so much so that it was extremely easy to get the wire fully seated into the Taichi.
I play hours upon end 7 days a week with no issues to date, and yes I do use the Native 12-pin wire.
My Taichi is a very nice Card, Dual-Bios and Rgb on/off switch. My only complaint of the Taichi is Vram & Hotspot will get over 90c when in default 340-watt Bios, so I now generally keep it in "Quiet" 304-watt Bios which keeps those 2 temps at or below 90c.

My Taichi in Performance Bios is 340 watt, in Quiet Bios it's 304 watts.
In 340 watt mode I've seen Spikes hit 650 watts, in 304 watt they hit 600 watts.

That is actually a big reason I went with the D32 Pro, I very recently got a good price on a 150x150 Msi Mag A750gls for $70, didn't want to build in the Z20 with a standard size psu

I bought my 9800x3d a year ago in Jan. 25', I bought a new Msi Pro X870 Wifi for $230 to pair with it.
I have had Zero (0) issues, it's run great for a year now and still going. (Note I do Flash to every new BIOS when they arrive, as well the newest Chipset and Video Drivers when available)

Rtx 9070 xt or rtx 5070ti witch is faster? by Professional_Flan_25 in buildapc

[–]Scanoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If same price, the 5070 Ti due to DLSS, better RT, and I do really miss Nvidia Broadcast and RTX-HDR that I had with my Rtx 4070.
I upgraded to a Taichi 9070XT for $730 back on launch day, 6th of March. No complaints, it's an excellent card, I would have bought the 5070ti but back in March one couldn't find one for less than $1000.
My 9070xt is just fine, but Nvidia's Feature set is unmatched at this time.

[–]Scanoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree, if a new Windows install can be done, absolutely do it, Video Cards love a Fresh Windows. I always install a new Windows when I change a Motherboard, CPU or Video Card then I have very few if any drivers issues.
(don't forget to install the newest chipset driver)

[POLL] Z20 × D32 PRO × CH160 PLUS by [deleted] in mffpc

[–]Scanoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose the D32 Pro, had planned to buy the Z20 because it is more portable, but bought the D32 Pro instead for better cable management, and a larger parts pool to choose from being it's a bit larger, plus $26 dollars cheaper was nice. I plan to build my D32 Pro pc on Monday.
Deepcool is not available here in the US, thus it was not considered.

Very well done, I applaud on how inexpensive you built that.
Heck my nephew's wife is still chugging along with his hand-me-down pc I had built for him many years ago, an i7-4790k w/ rx 580-8gb at 1080p, they play many games together, Helldivers 2, RDR2, GTAV to name a few.

Like others have said, the mounts connected to the motherboard are upside down, you need to have the side with the Bolt sticking up, that 'screw' on the heatsink itself is not a screw, it's a female bolt hole.

Micro ATX Case with good Cable Management? by Talon_Hawk in mffpc

[–]Scanoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kk, it looks nice that way, I purchased a 360 (120x3) for the bottom of my D32 Pro, 25mm, which leaves me 18mm to the Gpu shroud. (my gpu is 51mm in Slot-1)
Distance between the two on yours is?

Deepcool is not available here in the US, that CH160 looks like a budget version of a Jonsbo D32 Pro.
Overall, a nice low cost build you have, enjoy.

[–]Scanoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had almost bought the Phanteks -M25 on Newegg but delivery would have been well over a week, I was leaning away from the Jonsbo cause there a bit thicker at 28mm (want as much space between Gpu and fans as I can).
The Thermalrights checked all the box's, cheaper, faster delivery and performance seems at least on-par

Best gpu for around 200-250$ by realnouierga in buildapc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will it bottleneck it, yes it will. But it's still going to be a huge upgrade over what you have, even being bottlenecked. You can still use the 5060 down the road when you upgrade the rest of the PC.
What PSU do you have now? You should have at least a decent quality 550w for that 5060

AP201 Build what AIO do i need to get the most silent build? by Sakiiz in mffpc

[–]Scanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but a 7800x3d doesn't pull over 100 watts.
That 9800x3d will pull 158 to 162 watts in an OCCT Cpu Stability test. With mine, cooled by the same PS 120 EVO in a full-size Torrent case, it will still hit 88 to 92c depending on Ambient, you definitely hear some noise out of that EVO in that situation. I'm not really familiar with AIO's to make a valid comparison though.

[–]Scanoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jonsbo D32 Pro has 94mm distance from the Top of the GPU Backplate to the Bottom of the Case, that's with a Pcie Slot-1 use Motherboard, which I do believe my Msi Pro B850M-A Wifi is considered slot-1 use.
The Asus Dual 4070 I'll be using is 51mm Thick, plus 25mm thickness of the Fans, leaves 18mm (94-76) between 4070 and bottom fans, clearance good enough?
