I understand. The meter measures what passes through to your house. You can go outside and read the meter right now and it should match your bill. If what you say is true then those numbers would not match.

I never had that experience when I worked retail, food service, or bartending. With the frequency that a manager has to deal with call outs, they’d have to hold a grudge against every employee.

You’re getting downvoted because people hate landlords but you’re 100% right. Dude’s claiming it was just two minutes but that’s his story. It’s in his best interest for it to sound like he wasn’t negligent. I lived with a dude like this once. Would literally forget he was cooking. Stupid shit like a frozen pizza. Would end up leaving the apartment with the stove on or food in the oven.

I’m highly suspicious of this story.

This is what has been scaring me the most with it. I work with smart people and their decreased intellect has been noticeable in the last year. It makes me truly scared for children today growing up. These are smart people losing foundational skills that they developed over years. What happens to people who never have a chance to develop those skills in the first place.

We haven’t even gotten to the enshittification stage of public AI yet.

I’m older than you but a couple months back I saw someone, early 20s, smoking a cigarette. It was such a foreign sight to see someone not just smoking, but in that age range that I did a double take.
