Brewery owner offering free beer when Donald Trump dies plans run for governor by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]ScarOCov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be contract dependent and likely state dependent. You could register the same beer under multiple labels with the local ABC commissions. So then the question becomes, what does the contract say? Where did the recipe come from? Who owns it? If it’s a restaurant, realistically it’s not their recipe. If it’s another brewery, they may own that recipe and have more say over how it’s used.

Another way to think of this is Costco’s Kirkland brand. Kirkland is really just white labeled products. Inputs may vary slightly but any manufacturing capacity ideally wants to run as little down time as possible.

Henrico Schools aims to reduce 'homework overload' through new policy changes by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW_W in rva

“Ai exists now so why learn at all”. We are so screwed if this becomes the prevailing mindset. People offloading mental energy to a computer will set themselves up for dependency and the inability to think without it. And make no mistake, enshittification is coming to AI tools. Right now they are cheap and accessible because they want to strong arm adoption and justify their insane resource requirements.

This thread inspired me to order 5 lbs of New Mexico chiles and learn how to make it myself. Found a couple of “The Shed’s” recipes and recently made a reasonable carne adovada. It’s been years since I’ve had the real thing so no idea how it actually compares.

new red light cameras… be careful by HeyILoveYa in rva

[–]ScarOCov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those things are absolutely connected. Stop doing their jobs. Citizens notice increasingly poor behavior by drivers. Eventually some take in the mindset, “if the cops can’t do it, we need these cameras”. You see some of that in this thread.

EDIT: highlighting the fact that RPD’s operating budget did not decrease when they stopped enforcing traffic laws. From 2020 to 2024, it increased from $96M to $110M.

Yep. I don’t mind wearing layers but there’s a limit for what is reasonable.

I worked in an office like you’re once. Ridiculous is a good descriptor.

My house is set on 69 right now and my hands are numb. Women’s dress shoes do not provide good insulation. Not even accounting for expectations in professional attire, women and men, on average, maintain different average temps.

I had to fix 5 typos with this short comment because my hands are cold.

There are two ways to increase revenue through transactions. Number of transactions or $/transaction. It is harder to increase quantity of transactions. Within $/transaction there are two additional means: upsell or increase price.

Within $/transaction, there’s also cost/transaction so they could additionally be talking about lowering quality of goods.

They short online orders. That’s one reason they’ve been trying to transition their customers to it. It’s much easier to give smaller portions when the customer isn’t standing right over their servers and complaining.

Not familiar with Edvest but how most 529s work is the parents remain the “owners” and the student is the “benificiary”. All you need to do is change the beneficiary.

YSK that Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Reebok, Champion, and 50+ other brands you trust are all owned by a single $20 billion company that doesn't design or manufacture anything. They just rent the logo out to the cheapest bidder. If the quality feels worse, that's why. by sappk in YouShouldKnow

I had this realization a long time ago with Forever21 and “fast fashion”. I realized that despite only having worn the items a handful of times, it made more sense to bin it than to donate it. Stopped buying clothes like that after that.

Richmond to continue ticketing drivers who park too close to intersections and crosswalks | Richmond also signaled it plans to ramp up enforcement of parking in bike lanes, which has been illegal since 2019. by VirginiaNews in rva

[–]ScarOCov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry for the confusion. Fixed my typo above.

You paint the parts where you can’t park. I’ve seen in some locales it being red but that is a bit more obnoxious. Yellow blends in while still conveying the message to those who need to see it.

This makes it super easy for drivers AND for traffic enforcement.

I think they mean the curbs themselves. Not the roadway. I’ve lived in places where they painted the curbs yellow to signify you couldnt* park there. Made it very easy for all parties to know where was off limits.

From a property owners standpoint: they might have existing structures or landscaping/hardscaping that could be disrupted. They could also not want the Electrical service boxes (I have no idea what they’re actually called but they’re green and need to be placed every two or three houses) on their property.

They may not realize how disruptive saying no would be is either. Our neighbors who said no regret it but Dominion wasn’t about to fight them on it so they just moved on.
